Hey everyone!
Happy Friday. Hope you're all doing well. I've been getting some recent comments and likes. Thanks for sharing what's been helpful. I'm so glad these videos are helping some of you. Here is an overview on arthritis. I found OA and RA confusing to distinguish when I was studying so I thought an overview would be nice. Obviously, I can't cover everything but I tried to cover the main takeaways about this condition. Small note: Paraffin is spelled with two f's. I made a typo there!

Hi everyone! It looks like a few of you had questions/comments on when prom should be used. From my experience and research, arom is used for rheumatoid arthritis when there is no flare up or inflammation. If there is inflammation, it is recommended to rest inflamed joints to prevent exacerbation. So gentle prom and rest is best during flare ups. There is a nice breakdown of rheumatoid arthritis here: www.hopkinsarthritis.org/patient-corner/disease-management/rehabilitation-management-rheumatoid-arthritis-patients/#exercise As for my second slide about overall information on arthritis, when I say limit prom, its referring to non inflammatory types of arthritis/non inflamed joints. Typically, when you work with arthritis patients, its important to strengthen and do active or active assisted range of motion to decrease pain and stiffness. A lot of patients will avoid movement because it hurts but we have to educate them on consistent ways to maintain mobility so it doesnt get worse. I hope this clarifies/answers your questions. Remember: RA is degenerative and is immune based with flare ups/inflammation. OA (most common) refers to the bone so think osteo for bone. The bones begin rubbing together and causing pain due to thinning tissues between the bony edges. www.arthritis.org/about-arthritis/understanding-arthritis/what-is-arthritis.php

The way I remember the difference between Heberden's and Bouchard's is this: I think of HD like HDTV (high definition television); therefore Heberden's is Distal I think of BP like the BP gas stations; therefore Bouchard's is Proximal

Another easy way I remember Herbedons and Bouchards nodes is that B comes before H in the alphabet and when looking at your hands the PIP joint (B) comes before the DIP joint (H)

Hi OT rex! I am a little confused about the acute vs. flare up phase. I imagine that the flare up phase refers to an inflammatory phase but I am a little confused over what you mean by acute.

I love your little HERB mneumonic, but it's actually Heberden's nodes, not Herbedon's. Just so people know. I know this video is super old. lol

After I gave birth 2.5 years ago, the middle joints of my fingers permanently expanded. I haven’t experienced any pain or reduced range of motion. However, since my hands 🙌 used to be one of my best features with long smooth fingers, I was wondering if there are any cosmetic procedures for restoring their old shape.

Can you tell which joints expanded proximal joints or distal joints of fingers. And in one hand or both hands. Bcoz I also developed this a week ago.

@@usamashahzad6029 Both hands, all the middle joints only. I’m not concerned about my thumbs though.

have you had any luck? Or like any new information about it at all? I find nothing about cosmetic procedures on the internet and i'm getting really mad. I got one heberden node because i injured my finger (WHY DID I HAVE TO DO IT) and now i just want to fix it. So any information would be helpful.
