Back in 1981 I was connecting to Compuserve with a Commodore VIC-20 and a 300 baud modem. Arthur C. Clarke was on there also with a Commodore and I had several chats with him. A brilliant and fascinating man who had a big influence on me.

Years ago when I was a much younger man stocking shelves at Wal -Mart we had a door greeter Mr Jim . Jim was a quiet unassuming guy that genuinely carried pens in a pocket protector . He passed away suddenly only a few months after I met him . In his obituary we all learned that he had retired as an electrical engineer for NAsA and had worked on the moon shot .

We would not assume to imagine fb or utube or God help us tik Tok. Lol... Scientific evolution is truly a spectacle to Behold. I wish Arthur would have just gotten to see the advancement of mobile phones to what they are today. He would have been so proud and rightfully proven right in his premonitions of decades past. Strange that he commissioned a UFO monument in my Scottish local the very same year he did the same in a shitty outback town in Australia. Reeks of world government propaganda. And once more.... Many indications suggest Clarke is a founder member of NAMBLA. Not a man to be celebrated in his fullest, or recommended without reservation. Sure I don't have proof to convince you; or to defend myself from a libel action.... But it's my moral duty to share my firmly held belief and point the sensitive and research minded towards the existence of much suspicion, shade and at least circumstantial evidence that he was involved in abominable crimes (NASA scams and militarism aside.)

One of my favorite writers in my childhood I read many of his stories . Later in life learning more about him that he was more than just a science fiction writer was very impressive. A little later in life somewhere around the birth of RU-vid I found something that identified him as being gay and at that point I really did not care... it's like my introduction to him was about so many wonderful mind-expanding things have benefited me as well as broadened my perspective and appreciation of the Sciences... now if the first thing I've learned about him was that he was gay before I read any of his books my mind would have already been Limited. I think his character is something a lot of these lgbtq people could benefit from... Stop screaming in the streets about your sexual preferences, nobody's telling me that you can't do whatever you want to cuz apparently everybody's already doing whatever they want to oh, there is no Injustice... Now go out be human participate with the rest of us create and build something to inspire others stop focusing on sexuality it is a very small part of life. Sorry that's my rant. I have nothing against gay people and I totally appreciate Arthur C Clark. The world we live in is focused on so many of the wrong things it's hard for anyone to move forward

@@illfightforfreedom2954 not everything is a lie. it's time to loose the notion of belief. to accept something as if true with no empirical evidence, is mental illness. We can accept that something has possibility and probability, without it having to be true. Then when we find out it's not true, we can amend our knowledge banks without crying and butt hurt. When i ate my chocolate and walnut ice cream, there was definitely a spoon, and if anyone says otherwise, they must bring forth their empirical argument that demonstrates how spoon = no spoon. while i smack them on the third eye with it and they whinge about the pain and growing lump that the un-spoon caused. ;D We are subject to the indoctrination of foundationless thinking. Occums razor will be the ticket to enlightenment, my friend. and be sure you have much importance in this place we find ourselves.

@@illfightforfreedom2954 When you come to realize that all of science has become polluted with unsubstantiated beliefs, it's time to set a new datum. a new base line for understanding. a new, proper foundation to build your tower of knowledge on. I will give you this and you must verify it for yourself. to not verify it is to live in belief. Water at rest is flat and level. this one truth will prove ultimately valuable as you learn all of the implications.

Pretty sure Clarke would be very impressed with the direction and progress of spacex. Both he and Musk don't think in the mundane.

Only musk is autistic as in scoring high in the spectrum up to diagnosis asperger. Yet he 'believes' to save the world by owning a social media platform. It doesnt do justice to both men comparing them in any way i think. Let musk write a book first...

I wish I'd gotten to meet this great thinker and amazing writer. I love his book, " Time enough for Love"

Richard; Uh, "Time Enough For Love" was written by Robert A. Heinlein, not Arthur C. Clark. That being said, I would have loved to meet them both! Heinlein and Clarke did meet in Sri Lanka in 1953 or 1954 when he and his wife Virginia took an around the world trip. Heinlein wrote about the experience in his posthumously published book "Tramp Royale". Evidently Clarke showed the Heinleins quite a good time.
