The Steelers named Arthur Smith their new offensive coordinator. Smith joins Coach Mike Tomlin’s staff with a wealth of experience, entering his 17th year in the NFL, which includes the last three (2021-23) as the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons.
He previously served on the Tennessee Titans coaching staff from 2011-20, the final two seasons as offensive coordinator in 2019 and 2020, years in which the Titans offense was rated as one of the NFL’s best.

Mason Rudolph is all we need-and this is no bandwagon comment. I have been saying for years that Mason was the answer. Play him a full season and we win the Super Bowl. Matt Canada would still be employed had Kenny Pick-Six and Mitch Toorisky been benched. You need a competent QB first and foremost 😀

I can't say I was familiar with him, but he sounds like a perfect fit. We'll see if they'll start a trend of not just promoting from within. His offensive success ranked near the top, in every area the Steelers need help in. Y.P.G., Red zone, rushing, passing, total yards. And I think he has just as good and some cases better WR's & RB's to work with as Tenn & Atl. Will he get Pickett QB to be come back player too?. I would definitely through training camp let him decide which QB he prefers.

Context matters Did Atlanta score when it counts? 3d down conversion rate 40%, 13th in the NFL. 4th down conversion rate 42%, 29th in the NFL Redzone Efficiency of 46%, 29th in the NFL Atlanta franchise records broken, no NFL records broken. Bijan Robinson Atlanta's rookie yards from scrimmage record: 1,463, isn't even int the top 25 in NFL, nor did he break 1000 yds rushing. The last game he could have broken 1k, held to 28 yds @ 2.5 per att. The previous record was 1,174 by Algeier 2022. Najee Harris was 18th with 1,667 under Matt Canada. Kyle Pitts Atlanta's rookie TE yards record. 110 targets 68 receptions 1026 yds 1 TD. That was good enough for 2nd in the NFL. Behind Mike Ditka's 56 receptions for 1076 yds 12 TDs. Kyle Pitts had 356 yards, 2 tds the next season, and 667 yds 3 tds in 2023. Exactly what Falcon fans were very upset by. Drake London Atlanta's rookie WR yards record: 72 rec 866 yds 4 tds, doesn't even do top 30 NFL WR Rookie yards. Just from 2020-2023, Puka Nacua, ja'Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson above 1400. Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave and Jaylen Waddle above 1000. George Pickens had 52 rec for 801 yds 4 tds and 1140 on 63 rec for 5 TDs this year. But Rooney hates dominate passing game, so expect more inline with Atlanta's numbers. His OC time in Tennessee, great regular season stats, come playoffs, has run game stuffed in playoffs and offense sputters and dies and exit playoffs. He'll fit right in here. Lets Go!

This is my opinion. The Pittsburgh Steelers are the best Sports Franchise in Sports History. Sometimes I just trust what decisions Arthur Joseph Rooney II makes. I have followed the Steelers Football Team since I could speak words. I just ask one important question about the Quarterback position? I feel The Steelers Football Team needs a Quarterback Who brings Stability and Sustain to the Steelers Offense. Mason Rudolph Saved Our Football Season. Mason Rudolph Showed Experience coupled with maturity as Leader of the Offense. Unless Baker Mayfield is looked at seriously to be brought in to compete with Mason Rudolph? Then I feel Mason Rudolph is the QB of The Pittsburgh Steelers Football Team.

How are so many people excited about this hire? Smith has 2 years of play calling experience. Far from a “great offensive mind”. His offense in Tennessee was driven by star power, not scheme. They ran Henry on first and second down, then threw to one of their two 6-4 receivers when they needed to. Defenses knew what they were doing. Their offense was a “you know what we’re going to do, but I dare you to stop it” type offense. Nothing schematically impressive. Not as predictable as a Matt Canada offense, but still pretty easy to figure out. The Steelers don’t have any players like Henry or Brown who are just always better than the man lined up across from them. They don’t have a team that can get by on just talent. They need a great scheme to be a 25ppg team like the Titans were. They need a playbook that keeps the defense second guessing and never comfortable. You’re delusional if you think Arthur Smith is the offensive mastermind to turn this offense into a top 10 unit. The guy has 2 years of experience where he called plays like a high school team. Run on first, run on second, pass when needed. Far from a proven play caller, and far from someone good enough to be excited about.

KC's 26th ranked run defense, and Baltimore's defense figured it out pretty quick in the playoffs. Held King Henry to 69 yds & 40 yds.

Well, hard to say how this is going to work out but..........given what is known about this guy, I'm not so certain its a good fit. Sure, he has the experience and apparent success as an OC, but that doesn't always mean its going to work well. The problem I see is that this guy comes from a privileged background as we are told he is the son of the CEO of FEDEX or whatever, so essentially this dude has a silver spoon in his mouth. That being said, he even looks like one of these whiny spoiled brats who expects people to bow down to him when he says so and expects them to not only jump but expects them to ask how high they have to jump.....based on what we know of the Steeler culture under Tomlin, its not exactly exuding that kind of atmosphere, so its really going to be interesting to see how that dynamic works with some of these players on the roster. So, I wish this guy all the luck in the world, but I'm just not seeing him fitting in. The other thing I hate about these kind of guys is that they never played a stich of football in their lives, yet somehow become a high level coach? How exactly does someone like this relate to the players and how do they not look at players like they are chess pieces instead of human beings......thats all I gotta say about this person and some assumptions about him, but to be fair, I could be TOTALLY wrong about it; however, I don't think so..........
