Most of those listed already were; you see Uncle, Pearson, Swanson, Karen, Trelawny, Tilly and Abigail come to Arthur for comfort, reassurance and Leadership (and not Dutch) in Chapter 6. Mary-Beth, in turn, gives comfort and reassurance to Arthur if you choose to talk to her at Beaver Hollow. Charles, Sadie, John and Abigail were Arthur's support system until Charles had to leave to help the Waipiti Indians escape (and he didn't belong in Dutch's gang anymore), and he made Sadie and Abigail abandon him to meet up with Tilly to get her son back at Copperhead. Sean looked up to Arthur as an Older brother to him, and would've been dismayed at Dutch's willingness to abandon his two sons (Arthur and John) to die. Lenny would have been smart enough to see the forest for the trees starting in Lakay, in regards to Dutch's mental decline, if he were still alive to make it that far. Kieran was loyal to Arthur alone, although he wanted Dutch's trust and approval at Clemens Point.

They should have kept him alive because I doubt that it would mess with the story because him being a former odrisscol he wouldn’t have a strong influence on Dutch
