I love how Bradley just "Which do you think is stronger: Romance with Gwen or Bromance with Merlin-" " *Bromance with Merlin.* " " *NO C O N T E S T* "
Bradley is exactly right. Arthur is in love with Gwen, but his relationship with Merlin is special. It's set apart from everything else, even Guinevere.
I love the Lancelot and Gwen ship 10x more than Arthur and Gwen. I mean, I ship Arther and Merlin (I guess I have a bias) but like she seemed like she actually loved Lancelot. It’s so sad :(
@@vegapondz totally agree. Gwen was obviously drawn to Lancelot, and with Arthur... it wasn't passionate. It was something quiet and respectful (beautiful in its own way), she saw his potential to be great and just leader. But Lancelot left her without even giving her a choice.
accually not so much xD I don't ship Destiel, like at all and I just don't like it but I have to agree with Merthur and TenRose, and I would say it si like Johnlock to Sherlock
In the latest DR Who episode the doctor admits he had a man crush on the master and then he stated time lords are above sexuality or something along the lines of that while talking to Bill
MsShadows no he compared finding his sister and feeling the relief that would come in finding your wallet. He wanted to put it in relatable terms I think.
You normal humans don't understand how actor brains work so you can't process our words about character analysis the way we mean them when it comes to depth of why they do each action is what Bradley was talking about though
Bromance //Romance , either way there 's a lot of intimacy between the two . I like the bromance cause it 's fun to watch and nice to see two guys being all chill and fun together . The romance is just my guilty pleasure .
ShinyUmbreon01 really?! Omg how do you know??? I've always wondered that it just had to be in purpose, because sometimes it was just to obvious! I would die if it really was canon!!!
Inez de Groot Here's a link that talks about what they say in the DVD commentary ^^: www.hypable.com/merlin-showrunner-shares-his-thoughts-on-the-series-finale-in-dvd-commentary/
Lord Minty personally Arthurian era had this end itself so no matter what the end was inevitable and had to be done that way. But I hoped they would make a modern era merlin (not the old look one) and Arthur who isn't a prince or something like that u know like 21st century supernatural series.... would have been a hit.
*spoilers* If you look closely, Arthur mouthed "I love you" before saying thank you and dying, I don't have a source but it looked like it and someone else said it was confirmed by Bradley James (their comment was how I first noticed it). He always believed in Merthur. There's also a moment where Merlin sighs after telling Arthur to get some sleep, and it sounds like he says "I love you" (this one is not as sure but it sounds like it).
Arthur is in love with gwen, but his and Merlin's relationship is special. They are soulmates and it doesn't have to be romantic, you could think of it as such but it doesn't have to be. They are meant to be together as a team and they are two sides of the same coin
Just started watching the show. Am still on season 1 and how I wish it didn't end so soon :( Am I the only who wants merlin to be told in the modern world? Like it would be really fun to watch that :))
I think the fact that he compared finding Morgana again after a year of absence, to finding his lost wallet is quite amuzing. He probably needed a bit more love in his childhood, or another sibling or something like that. ^_^ It was interesting how quickly he knew the answer to that last question. I would had had to think on it longer. It does make a difference though that where he's in, series three is still in the making. I've seen all five by now. They went by far too quickly!
I love how they just pan over to let us to know that Colin is also there, he’s just being quiet. Also, it took less than a second for Bradley to say “BROMANCE WITH MERLIN”, and I’m adding it to my running theory that the whole cast secretly shipped Merthur
I adore Bradley's honesty. He just charges into an answer head first without actually thinking about it, even if the answers don't actually make a lot of sense. It's refreshing compared to all the other actors who seem to have every answer planned out. He's a genuine character, that Bradley.
Bradley and Colin have more chemistry in this interview (even with Colin off screen!) than Arthur and Gwen will ever have. I love that Bradley is brave enough to admit that he really isn't all that enamored with the Gwen/Arthur thing, that kind of honesty is refreshing. He just seems like a nice, normal, down to earth man.
Bradley James is a very gifted gifted actor. He is a very lovely person inside and out. He is very professional but yet still knows how to have fun on sets. It is very lovely to see him grow as a person throughout the years. Bradley is a very versatile actor he can play drama he can play romance he can play seriousness as in war he can play comedy as well as horror. As I said he is a very versatile actor and I can't wait to see what he does next in 2024. What a lovely lovely person. His smile is so beautiful and genuine he really lights up a room. His parents must be quite proud.❤
i love that colin is there the whole time and that bradley keeps on looking at him and laughing because colin's laughing at him. brolin is a thing. their bromance is way too cute.
He said it SO FAST like.....lol at these people trying to say "he said BRO-mance not romance. Gwen still wins cuz he's still SO STRAIGHT ohhmergooood." Clearly he meant what he said "NO CONTEST". Now get over it. Arthur is gay for Merlin. Merlin is gay for Arthur. Merthur is cannon you dollopheads.
fairygrrl45 Not quite. The very idea of sexual orientation wasn't even conceived until the late 19th century. For most of human history intimacy was intimacy was intimacy, and even in the most "holier than thou" societies intimate friendships between men were highly esteemed and honored. But intimacy does not mean sex. All sex is intimate, but not all intimacy is sex. Just because there is intimacy between men does not mean they're getting it on all the time, or even at all. Point is: Arthur and Merlin were not gay (even IF they were romantically involved). In the pre-modern and ancient world there was no concept of sexual orientation. There was just love and intimacy, and the innumerable ways such things could be expressed (some acceptable, others not quite acceptable but tolerable, and still others that were outright taboo or punishable). So to say that anyone before the late 19th century is gay, straight, bi, etc. is painfully anachronistic.
Wow. Thanks for the lesson, that I didn't quite need because I'm a gender & sexuality minor, and knew all of this (Foucault and all, lol). Anyway, I believe you misunderstood me. I was making fun of those who would say that Arthur was so straight (that's why the quotation and "lol at these people") and couldn't possibly have an intimate (sexual, emotional, or otherwise) with Merlin. But even if you didn't misunderstand me, and this was your chosen answer to my very wry and facetious comment, I think you might be taking yourself just a LITTLE too seriously. I'm all for educating others but there are ways to do it that are way less preachy. Especially on a RU-vid thread.
I've seen this interview in different sections before, mostly the bromance/romance part, but I think this is the first time I've seen it all in one. I had no idea Colin was there for the whole thing. I figured he was just glancing over in a general direction and had no idea he was glancing at him. I wouldn't say this means he shipped Merthur exactly, just that he was saying it was a stronger relationship at the time than the romance. There's a difference between bromance and romance. I would love it if he did ship Merthur though!
I love that in every other question he took his time to explain thoroughly every detail but when it came down to Merlin or Gwen Bradley just answered “bromance with Merlin” and that’s it. We stan a merthur stan.
You're kidding me ,right? The relationship between Merlin and Arthur is exactly one of those things that literally live/ breathe/ exit for❤❤❤ this show means the world to me!!!
Arthur only thinks hes in love with Gwen cos its the only explanation for his feelings but really its Merlin since hes always around when hes with Gwen
Yes. I like Gwen, but Arthur,, fall in love with you her'' after she started to be...,, Rude' '. And all know who is always,, rude' ' to Arthur, who is he really in love to. (I know it's been 5 years, sorry)
Arthur’s sole reason for falling in love with Gwen was that she stood up to him and did not let him get his way. She was not acquiescent, just like… MERLIN. Since day one. My theory is that Arthur was in love with Merlin but would not consciously let his feeling flourish, as homosexuality was severely frowned upon in the Middle Ages, maybe even more than magic, so he merely projected his cloistered, new found feelings for Merlin into Gwen.
one of my VERY MOST FAVORITE series.....I have watched MULTIPLE TIMES all the way through and continue to restart from the beginning once again........THE BEST!!!
Merlin and Arthur shared a very special bond. It didn't have to be romantic or whatever, but there was a strong connection there, and it was heartbreaking to see Merlin try to save Arthur and eventually lose him.
Whenever I watch Colin and Bradley interacting, even when one is off camera like Colin is here, I get the feeling that they're carrying on a silent conversation between them that no one else knows about. It ain't romance or slash--it's BROMANCE!
Okay he answered SO FAST Everything else he sort of thought for a while to collect his thoughts and things, but then with the Gwen or Merlin question, he didn’t even breathe before answering 😂
I think a lot of us felt that Merlin was in love with Arthur and that Arthur enjoyed his affections but would never go there. It is what it is and that is life sometimes. My only issues is when they tried make Merlin chase after girls. I was like what? who? That didn't make sense but I forgive it because I loved this show.
