Because we are not speaking about any specific plays that he wrote. When we speak in general, we use a plural noun without an article in English. For example: Please like going to the beach in the summer. I like seeing movies in the cinema (= movies in general). BUT: I like the movies by Bass Luhrmann (= specifically his).
Nice! Thanks for sharing this. I agree with another comment, I think it would be helpful to hear the voice say the sentences. However, this is helpful practice that I'll be using in an EFL lesson tonight. I'll be pairing it with a video from MmmEnglish about articles :)
The is used before UK because 'the' is used with the group of the countries and the UK is group of countries- Great Britain, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, English. Similarly that of USA. That's why we use the UK.🙂🙂
