Artie Shaw Concerto for Clarinet Yevgeny Yehudin (principle clarinet of Israel Philharmonic Orchestra) Alex Nemirovsky (drum set) Eyal Ein Habar (conductor) Israel Philharmonic Orchestra
Terrific jazz clarinet playing with fire yet retaining beautiful tone and intonation The smiles on the players' faces says it all. These guys can swing.
What i love about this are the faces of the other members of the orchestra. They are obviously really loving this. Especially the fine lady with the cello. And that Klezmer typr of sound suits this soooo well. I also play but can only dream of sounding this good....
Speechless!!! I had listened to other versions of this piece previously and came across this version accidentally in mp3 format. It was astonishingly different from the others in its beauty but there was no performer's name on the audio so I searched and listened to the various performances on youtube until I found it. Thumbs up Yehudin
A great performance from Yevgeny and the orchestra ( loved the choreography!). I played in the orchestral sax section for a performance of this piece with Gervais dePeyer and the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra (South Australian Symphony now) in 1977. This version seems much jazzier and Yevegeny uses a lot more kletzmer inflection to great effect!
Yevgeny is a fantastic musician and clarinettist This is the best recording I have heard of this work and the IPO is also playing with him. May HaShem bles you all. Thank you. Bill. UK
An outstanding performance of Mr Shaw's concerto that honors the Klezmer, jazz and classical elements of his composition. And Maestro Yehudin is up to the task: great tone and articulation.
Yevgeny Yehudin (principle clarinet of Israel Philharmonic Orchestra)!!!!РУКОПЛЕЩУ Евгению, дирижеру, оркестру, и правильному звукооператору!!! Одесса, Гасюк
I really want to learn this and audition to play with my university's symphony as a soloist 😣 it is beyond gorgeous and fun, and it's pretty different than what our symphony normally plays. I really want to take lessons with someone who plays jazz clarinet, because I cant quite get my clarinet to sing the way it does in a lot of jazz compositions. If anyone has tips/recommended courses or teachers, please comment and let me know ❤ i hope to improve as a clarinetist.
