I was worried a new vocalist would ruin it a bit, but the new guy sounds great. I loved wills vocals, but im not hating what im hearing from the new guy so far. Still the best DM band in the world by a significant margin imo
Saw these guys in a random suggestion on Spotify a few weeks ago and thought the name was cool so I checked them out; I've had their three albums damn near on repeat ever since. Such a great sound, it's like if Mastodon went the other way.
As much as I love Will his approach was the only "static" thing about AB. Some like it, as I said I do as well but Paparo killed it here. Adds so much dimension to their sound but I will absolutely miss Will. Can't wait for the new record!
I've always been surprised that Artificial Brain has such a "live" sound on their records. Watching this just confirms what I always thought because it doesn't sound that different then the records!
They record with Colin Marston. He's a master at capturing a live sound in the studio, gets the band to sound exactly like themselves with zero bullshit.
I knew the musicians were gonna be great but the vocalist really surprised me here. He sounds much more dynamic and brutal live. I love all three of their albums. Edit: Oh, they have a different vocalist from the recordings. No wonder.
I miss Will's vocals. This new vocalist is great for any other death metal band, but he just doesn't sound like an alien insectoid machine like Will, haha. I like that Will's vocals were buried in the mix, sounding like some other alien instrument that was entirely undecipherable. The growls here are too prominent, too much like any other modern death metal band. Too human. Can't wait for the new album though, glad we have one more with Will.
Bingo ! You took the same words right out of my mouth !!! Either turn this vocalist's microphone down or get rid of him. It's destroying the feel of the vocals from their self-titled release. His vocals are either too loud or need to be lower like Demilich. Totally agree !!! 100%
I didn’t think of it that way until I read yr comment, but it was really well said. I think I will listen to the new album 100 more times now, thanks! 😅 👾👽☠️
@@JaxJSwiss Dan and Jon are the OG guitarists of the band and I've been a full-time member since about 2015. We all split tracking duties for the upcoming release and I've contributed some writing as well. Everyone has full-time jobs and commitments outside of the band, and most of us live many hours apart from each other. By having a roster of sick and willing musicians to keep the spirit of Artificial Brain alive, we're able to make shows happen and simultaneously be able to tend to our earthly needs. We all cherish the band and are blessed to have such a flexible collective of great people to keep AB going.
I dont dislike this vocalist ( i like his vox) but just listening to the first 10 seconds of the track 'Artifical Brain' in this set is a perfect example of why Will will be missed. Iconic gurgle that's just...gone
Second best deathmetal band in the world behind Gorguts! To my ears, at least... The only thing about Artifical Brain that irks me is the drummer's setup. I'm not a fan of the minimalist setup in deathmetal. He doesn't need any more drums, but having a hi-hat, ride, china, and what it looks like, one crash, makes the sound sources repeatative. He doesn't need a huge George Kollias or Kevin Paraidis setup, but having 2 or 3 crashes, and a splash or 2 would make a big difference. I know it's not a big difference to most, but to me, a drummer, it stands out.... Dude's a rad drummer, though, and the lack of cymbals doesn't change the fact I love this band.
Dans vocals in general are heavily underrated imo..His vocals on The Blackest Reaches or Maniacally Unleashed are just extremely well done. I even prefered his vocals and songwriting over Daves when he was still in Revocation.
I cant believe how many people are saying this guy is a better fit than Will, Will's vocals are a huge part of what makes Artifical Brain special and unique. What happened to Paulo? He seems like hed be a closer pick to filling Will's shoes. This guy sounds fine, just like countless others in the DM scene.
I love everything abt their records, but I always felt the vocals were the weakest part. Great gurgling lows, but kinda one-note and monotonous after a while. I appreciate how someone with dynamic versatility sounds in the mix here. But to each their own.
Man the lows in the vocals are gone, this is closer to black dahlia murder style then that sick brutal death metal rumble/gutteral, really miss Will already, im so bummed cause he was a huge part of why this band was one my favs, its bittersweet cause were gonna get a good send off with the new self titled atleast, end rant.
Nice one! I'm glad people are saying their piece about how great Will was. Be a shame to see this become the style going forward. As someone else mentioned Paulo seemed like a better fit and I hope they still intend to bring him in.
You guys are jumping to conclusions hard as fuck,, Will is a champ,, but this dude is going hard & displaying a level of variation that only those who can attentively listen can appreciate. The man is replacing a legend without being on any recordings/being able to display what he's made of under those disciplines,, so suck walrus nuts and enjoy the band. And don't get sooky because I don't care
The comments seem much more tilted toward "wow Mike is really good with this band" than "wow Will sucks!", so it sounds like people ARE enjoying the music and you're the one with the problem.
To anyone who knows, did Will permanently leave the band, or is this a temporary fill-in singer? I’m new to this band but I honestly like this vocalist better
will left the band for personal reasons just prior to the release of the self-titled. i personally will miss him; the vocalist filling in here is mike paparo of the band inter arma.
Now offense to the new guy @artificial brain, but you can’t replace Will with him. Not sure if this is the replacement but you’re better off with Paulo if you can get him
Either turn that lead singer's microphone down or get rid of him. His voice isn't low enough. It's just destroying the feel of the vocals from the self-titled release. His vocals are either too loud or need to be lower like Demilich. Trust me, he's ruining it.
