In the latest installment of "Note to Self," famed portrait artist Chuck Close writes a letter to himself at age 14, offering himself advice on how to overcome his learning disabilities and his problem with face blindness.
I remembered my photog history professor showed this in class... Amazing work!!! And it is the definition of inspiring watching someone like him doing what he is doing...

This is one of the best stories in American history. His life was tragic but that is completely subjective. I'm beyond in ah of this man story. We are lucky to have him still here with us.
Chuck Close is brilliant, Ive loved his work since i was a young artist myself, bless you and keep up your spirit as well as the beautiful work you create..........
Picasso said “When art critics get together they talk about Form and Structure and Meaning. When artists get together they talk about where you can buy cheap turpentine.” In other words, artists know each other and have well-developed B.S. detectors, while those who make money off of artist's efforts know what the buying market swoons over, and what inflates valuations beyond all reason. Working artists in the 20th Century often traded works, in part recognizing any one might become famous, and so were enhancing the possible retirement funds of one another. They weren't speculating, but sharing the wealth. No B.S. there.
Well that's a silly statement. Of course they do. People that go to college are attempting to learn - not become something they're not. You have a complete misunderstanding of Education. College has nothing to do with success - it has to do with expanding the mind. YOU have a problem with expanding. And I hope the "Auto Body Repair Shop" you've found in your 'education' has helped you.
"Inspiration is for amateurs. The rest of us just show up and get to work." That's awesome! I'm totally going to quote that in the coment section so people know that I'm not a mere, common, to be looked down upon, loser, amateur. As if!
