Praised for his “stirring resonance” (San Diego Story), Bass-Baritone Jason Zacher is quickly gaining attention at the national level as a versatile performer. The New Jersey native recently completed his season with Opera in the Heights as their Resident Artist. Currently, Jason is making his Des Moines Metro Opera debut as an Apprentice Artist for their 2020 Virtual Festival.
In 2020/21, Jason makes his company debut with Ars Lyrica in their concert titled “Bach, Handel, and Hercules”. Jason will also be returning to Opera in the Heights to make his role debut as the title role in Le nozze di Figaro. Other notable performance credits include Angelotti (Tosca), Prince Gremin (Eugene Onegin), Alidoro (La Cenerentola), Oliver Jordan (Dinner at Eight), the title role of Don Pasquale, William Jennings Bryan (The Ballad of Baby Doe), as well as debuting the roles of Male Admirer in Karim Al-Zand’s The Leader, Artie in Anthony Brandt’s Kassandra, and Sir Oliver in Robert Nelson’s The School for Scandal.
As a concert soloist, Jason has performed the bass solos in Mendelssohn’s St. Paul, Mozart’s Coronation Mass, as well as Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb. Prior to COVID-19, Jason was slated to perform as soloist in Beethoven’s Mass in C and Fauré’s Requiem.
Jason currently holds degrees from both the University of Houston (M.M. Vocal Performance) and Montclair State University (B.M. Music Education).
