I had 1 of these in my shop, it was pretty good. I got an LP59, it's a very GOOD vintage style LP copy for $450! Had to change the tuners in it tho as they sucked!
I'm pretty happy with the stock pickups! Sound good enough for what I do, which is mainly distorted. Maybe for cleans/blues, a pickup upgrade might be more noticeable
i've had other artist guitars before and they were insane for their price, i'm planning to get one of these and chuck fishman fluence's in it and get a better bridge and machine heads, maybe even throw a bone nut on it, get a guitar that plays like a $3,000 esp-eii for under $1,000
I haven't seen anything recent that wasn't a false positive. Also, these guys are Aussie run and managed so you'd hope that they're ensuring nothing sus like lead is being put in their instruments. If you've got any examples of Artist guitars with lead I'd be keen to know more
Oh interesting! You're right about the bone nut. I always found that when tuning this guitar, strings need a bit of bending/wiggling before they settle into their real pitch. Can be deceptive and go out of tune right afterwards if im not aware of it. It's fine if I check the tuning is correct after bending the string a bit. Usually thats a result of a not great nut. Might just be the one I got, but not a big deal I suppose!
I've bought 2 Artist guitars in the past and BOTH had electronic issues... funny enough I bought a couple rechargable battery packs from them too and both of those had issues. Never buying anything with the brand "Artist Guitars" on it ever again lol.
Ive bought a few artist guitars and never had an issue with the guitar but I did have little bit of damage on the case but lucky the wharehouse was about it 30min from where i live so i drove there and they swap the case for me on the spot
