The Leeum Museum of Art is pleased to present an artist talk in conjunction with the exhibition 𝘎𝘢𝘭𝘢 𝘗𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘢𝘴-𝘒𝘪𝘮: 𝘕𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘛𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘴.
Bringing together national treasures from both South and North Korea, 𝘎𝘢𝘭𝘢 𝘗𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘢𝘴-𝘒𝘪𝘮: 𝘕𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘛𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘴 explores the multiple layers of meaning these cultural objects have accumulated from the history of colonization and division. Through this artist talk, we hope to delve into Porras-Kim’s practice and to discuss the function of museums as custodians of artifacts with the curator of the exhibition. We invite you to take part in this very special talk with Gala Porras-Kim, whose work addresses the historical context and conditions that impart value to objects of the past through the language of art.
