Was thinking about making the switch anyway but your video solidified it for me. Thanks for the two free months also. I can't wait to watch Clarity, I love nature adventures and that's eventually what I'm gonna to focus all my camera time on. You sir have earned yourself a follow!
Thanks Kyle! Glad the video was helpful. I am still using Artlist for all my projects to date and really enjoying it. Thanks for watching my short film as well!
Subscribed!! Bro had the same issue. Like woo hoo Peter McKinnon wants me to subscribe. Only to realize that hundreds of others have the same cinematic sound for broll action. Love how artlist has their video theme selection which helps tons since I’ll be doing diff types of content for the channel. Keep doing what you doing man!
I did quite a bit of research when I started my RU-vid channel. I liked Artlist, but one reason I decided against Epidemic was because it is hugely popular and the music is used across so many channels. Artlist is very user friendly, and they are constantly adding new music. I would selfishly like to tell people not to use Artlist, but I can't honestly say that. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
That's a great takeaway! And I agree, the songs on Epidemic were popping up everywhere. I still use Artlist to this day and really enjoy it. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this Sam! Something caught my attention - u used the instrumental version of sarah kang's summer if for falling in love in this video and I was wondering which platform did you license it from. I had been searching it on Music Bed, Artlist, Epidemic and I cannot find anything except Sound Cloud. In fact a lot of you tubers use her song and then say they license their music from Artlist which is misleading because her songs are not represented by them. Can u kindly share with me which subscription based music platform represents her songs? It would be really helpful. Many thanks!
This company should have been named Plague Sound. They are setting a new standard in ripping artists off. There has been cases when epidemic offered $20 for a song/track, not some fart SFX but a full music track, and they want a quality, well produced one. And they want to own ALL THE RIGHTS to it ... FOREVER. This is insane you'd say but believe it or not, there are people who agree to those terms. Plus to sign up with them as an artist you can't be a member of a performer's rights organization (PRO) such as EMI or ASCAP or PRS, SOCAN or whatever. We thank you as music producers for doing that. I hope more people follow your example and they go out of business sooner than they think.
@@SamBischof Epidemic of course. Their revenue model is so scammy. They are using investor's money to buy up copyrights from composers who then never see a penny in future broadcast royalties. And the buy out prices are really low too.
@@PositunesMusic Thank you so much for your comment! I’ve been scratching my head on the whole idea of why are artists signing with a company that does not allow you to be affiliated with a PRO. When a PRO to me is super essential, almost viewed as a retirement for producers/composers. But then again there are so many uneducated artists is sad to see mistakes being made before my eyes. I’m curious to know your thoughts about Pond5 or Audiojungle? I’m fresh to the royalty free music and seeing this post really encourages me to be careful and learn before I sign away
@@officialjrduncanpage royalty free sites are over, hyper saturated with tons of mediocre music (at best). The amount of tracks is growing by the thousands each week. Prices go down. Sales dropped significantly. If 5-6 years ago you could sell a track for 30 bucks a bunch of times. Today they sell much slower for $5-7. If you have a lot of free time and able to produce a track per day - you can make some pocket money. That's my point view on things.
Thank you very much for having common sense when it comes to finding music. I literally searched how to find royalty free music 40 times and finally I found this. Thanks again for making a simple and to the point video. Also, Clarity is amazing. Thanks for that as well and I couldn't agree more
Another great video Sam 🤙🏼it's funny this popped up in my feed I've switched to artlist a few months back and never looked back the music, sfx are just next level with artlist.
Hey man! You pretty much answered it in the video but I want to make 100% sure, cause this "download it and use it forever anywhere" still sound too good to be true. I have multiple youtube channels and projects outside of YT, just like you, and I don't want to run into problems (like many ppl with epidemic sounds). Have you had any problems with this so far, after a few months of using it? Very beautiful short film btw and my fav of the tons of reviews I just watched - I'll definitely use your link :D Peace
Hey man! Thanks for the kind words and for watching my videos. I have yet to run into any problems with copyright strikes. Across multiple platforms. The only issue I had was that Instagram flagged one for copyright but I disputed it and won. So that was an Instagram issue. Not artlist. Hope that helps!
I’m with you… I’m starting a second channel and was trying to link epidemic before publishing anything and they told me the same thing. I was like the new channel isn’t monetized and I already spend way more than I earn from ad revenue that I can’t keep emptying my bank account because I like making videos. Artlist will be what I go to.
Lol Like Your Style My Fellow RU-vidrian Artlist Is By Far more Superior ...I still Use Both as Im a Affiliate Thru Both Platforms.. But Deffently Been Liking Artlist A lot More🙌🎶
Good stuff! I've used artlist before. I did like their search tools. And yeah I've run into the single channel license problem with epidemic as well. So perhaps I'll revisit artlist again! Nice vid, and congrats on the short film
Thanks for watching Turbo! The single channel license thing is my biggest beef. I do like that Artlists songs seem fresher. But that won’t last forever. Thanks!
You aren't the first, second or even 5th video I've heard about people having issues with copyright strikes with Epidemic Sound. I use Artlist as well and love it.
@@SamBischof oh great... I have a valid subscription for epidemic sound on a lot of my videos and now I see this... getting nervous. When I emailed them 6 months back they told me that long as you have a valid subscription the time of publishing you are cleared. U just can't publish videos with their music after your subscription has ended. Which makes sense. So to me that means the vids I published while with the subscription are safe from claims right?!
Yes you should be good on those! You just wont be able to upload those videos to any other channels without first getting a subscription for each channel. Thanks for watching!
What good are 35k songs if 90% of them have been used over and over for years? I’ll take 12k new songs any day. Also the number you are quoting is from early 2020. I’m assuming they’ve added a lot to their library in 2 years. Thanks for watching!
4:43 Reminds me of this. Why does a person who owns multiple cars have to pay car insurance on each individual car? If you think about it, it should just be each individual person is insured as themselves. No matter what car they drive. So you own 5 cars but only pay one car insurance premium. Instead the insurance industry makes it so we have to pay on each vehicle.
I''m conflicted. I was at Artlist, but then i had a ReALLY hard time finding pop music for things like graduations. I joined Epid and am really happy with the choice....but I loved Artlist's licensing (however I hear it has now changed). I wish they had more inspirational pop sounds for celebrations.
Thinking about switching myself...for the same reasons you've mentioned. Though, I've never had an issue with copy write strikes to date with Epidemic Sound. I'm just getting bored of what feels like the same old music everyone else is using.
I will say that I still stumble across people using the same music as me on artlist. But it’s definitely not as frequent and you can definitely dig deep on artlist to find some gems. Thanks for watching!
Do you lose the rights or monetization on past videos with music from epidemic sound after canceling your subscription? I've been using epidemic sound for 3 years now and have been considering going to another source.
Good question. No you don't. As long as the song was downloaded during an active license. The only thing you lose monetization on is if you get a copyright strike for uploading it to other channels not tied to your account.
Hey Sam.... thank you for your honest review of ArtList. We hit your link and got the 2 extra months on our annual plan for top tunes for our online content! The world of copyright strikes were a genuine nuisance to us streaming and uploading our content to RU-vid. Your thoughts helped sway the decision making of which service to go for. ArtList looks like it'll do the job for us !!! Cheers !
Hey guys! I very much appreciate you using my link and taking the time to watch and comment! I'm glad this video was helpful. I feel like Epidemic Sound made a poor choice when they switched to that model. Enjoy Artlist!
I paid for a one year subscription plus the two free months two days ago and am pleased to hear the encouraging report. Am struggling right now with workflow. I am 76 years old and have been through many editions of consumer editing platforms only to have them soon cease to exist. I finally gave in and bought Final Cut Pro and am wading through understanding it’s workflow; I am stymied by a lack of understanding of workflow for Artlist. Is there a user manual or set of tutorials for it? Where do I find those? Can the songs also be downloaded into iPad Pro for use with LumalFusion?
Yes 100%. They have different license levels. They have one that’s meant for just one single channel and another pro level that can be used across multiple channels. Thanks for watching!
I’m a newby to creating video vblogs & adding to my RU-vid channel. I’m in agreement with you that backing music / sound is important to me. I’ve put my keyboard search to the max (maybe slight exaggeration 😇) and I’ve just watched this just now (now subscribed) so thanks 🙏 very much for this…..
Oh believe me - I also spend hours (over many days truly) to find a music that expresses the mood I want to invoke in my video. I managed many times find something I didn't hear anywhere before. Even a bigger joke is Musicbed where enter a 12 months contratc when subscribing. You can't leave and if you do, you have to take down your creations with their music. I actually haven't managed anything on Artlist to move me yet, but how knows... Maybe should give it more time.
I feel you man....I used both and for new beginner for me...artlist is better as I can use the songs for several platforms and still have the right to use them even though I am no longer paid consumer. and I could not use my epidemic songs .
I'm glad I've found and watched your video! Thank you a lot for your insights! You say that you can use Artlist music for your clients' channels. But does that mean I can buy one subscription, download music I liked, share it with my sister, and she can upload videos that include those tracks on her channel? And all that with my license (not her separate license). Is that correct? How does it work?
I’ve used for all of my recent short films and have been able to find everything I need! Im not a huge SFX guy but still feel like their library is extensive. Thanks for watching!
Hey man, I found your channel when looking for e commerce videos, and I saw that you mentioned in a comment somewhere that you have sold your business. you have also mentioned that you have other YT channel's I really enjoyed your ecom vídeos, so are any of this YT channels related to e-commerce? Did you start another business or did you stop eccomerce completely?
Music on artlist works on any platform because the music they source is royalty free and not copyrighted. Don’t forget to use my link :) Thanks for watching!
@@SamBischof thank you. I did not know what SFx stood for and just selected the music plan but I did email then to just switch over to sound effects as I am starting out and don't know If I need both yet.😁
Can me and my friend get a single artlist account and use it for both our youtube channels and commercial work aswell? We both are the two joint co-founders of a video production company so if we can get one single account and use it for both the things?
Hmmm... the disturbing thing is... just like how Epidemic changed their policy on a dime so you can only use their music on ONE channel, what if Artlist decides to change their policy as well down the line? Hopefully not!
Thanks , so I made a RU-vid video and I allow someone to use my video on youtube, I give him permission for my video to use it, that person who uses my video also has permission for music via Artlist licesing ?
yes, I went via the link, it said two months free on the website, I clicked on two months free, but I didn't get them. I created a user account and applied for a bank card and it said that I had to pay $ 199 in my bank account, I didn't pay, I refused the transaction, I thought it was paid monthly. I log in now through the user account, I put the song in the cart, I received an e-mail with a license for that song ... nothing is clear to me, I refused to pay and it shows me the license
Hi, when I buy the personal package, can someone else share the music I have shared for my social media with my permission or should I buy music for my business?
Hiiii bro how u hey plz tell me am bigginer In shooting cinematic videos plz suggest me which is payment free copyright free music for my channel jst like epidemic
Hey Sipat. If you're still uncertain, you can go watch my review as well. I'm a professional musician, maybe that makes me trustworthy :) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8Ob3beY3LUg.html
I agree 1000%. For me Epidemic Sound is dead too. I cancelled my Epidemic Sound for the same reasons you mentioned. I do have two YT channels and do some works for clients and in order to use their music I had to pay a subscription for each account! That's it, I tried Artlist and I've been subscribed for about two years now, no problem, and I can use their music on whatever project I have for me, clients and all. Artlist is the best, period! This is one of the videos I made using Artlist ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SJYE1JIU81M.html
If only Artlist didnt have such a trash music selection the decision would be super easy. Even with the imbecile downsides of EpidemicSound still it is the best option for quality and quantity. If quality wasn't my goal and i were dumb enough to resign to very very veeery boring, generic and bad music i would choose Artlist in a second. If only EpidemicSound could change a few policies they would be the best option of them all.
I actually completely disagree with you. While Epidemic Sound may have more songs in it's library, you can't conclusively say that they are better quality. That's pretty subjective. I've been using Arlist for a couple years now and have found a ton of great songs. I used only Artlist on my two recent short films as well. I would love for Artlist to have as many songs as ES, I agree there. Anyway, thanks for watching!
Hey man I feel that Epidemic sound has lost there flare, and I am proud to announce that I just bought a years subscription and with the help of your affiliate link I thank you for hooking me up with a couple months free. I can already tell I am gonna like Artlist way way better.
