@@bigmikeobama5314You have no clue, pal. Coming from someone who grew up with BW. SC2 is so fast and so hard I'd bet you couldn't even follow a Reynor replay without seizing.
I played broodwar as a kid in highschool. Also wc3. Played sc2 for years and years. Never got GM but i did finish seasons at rank 1 master. Religiously watched GSL for years. But when ASL came back, I stopped sc2 entirely. Its a great game but BW is king of e-sports i dont give a shit what anyone says.
Checkers are racist though. I mean the board has both black and white squares but during a checkers game you only use squares of one color to play. Some might thinks chess are racist too since there is all black vs. white thing going on, BUT in chess both black and white are shown as equals. They have the same pieces and positions and players are obligated to play both sides. ps. this is obviously a joke.
I used to like to watch SC2 more, a lot more, but it kinda faded over time, a lot of the players I was hyped about in early SC2 GSL seemed to disappear one after another (besides the former BW players who went back and were mostly expected to), a bit too many changes to the game even at times when it wasn't that bad (BW could arguably use a few more changes but SC2 is undoubtedly the other extreme), nothing fun/bonkers that made watching worth it like Scrap Station or Bunker Snakes. I'm not any more into BW than I ever was, but for multiple reasons it's stood the test of time better.
Lol, all the people in here going "Who still watches SC2"? I am pretty sure even less people watch BroodWar than SC2. Not that this means much, different people like different things but it's funny how insecure people turn everything into a pissing contest. Liking BW is ok, liking SC2 is ok. I personally watched BW for a while and got pretty bored of every ZvP coming down to how well players Muta micro or how every PvT is just a prolonged Mech push that drags the game out.
500 people have headaches and can't listen to screaming child noises... and no we don't mean any stray noises in the background that your mic pics up! :) No I SCII was just this very odd and annoying HYPE-bubble Jet that was constantly bloated again and again - MORE STEAM, More whatever that Bubble-Blowing Stuff is! And somebody came by with some ear-wax and now the surface tension is too much and they're all popping now.
Ironic that SC2 is more dynamic, like chess; and BW, less of it, like checkers. Coming from someone who grew up with BW, it doesn't harm to embrace the jewel that SC2 is, the pinnacle of RTS up until now. I love both, the two best RTS games of all time.
SC2 has less dynamism, its mechanically far more similar amongst the top pros. You can vary in strategy but the mechanics are similar from pro to pro because of it being more user friendly. Also BW has more dynamic map rotation in high level play. In my opinion there are few ways to consider it more dynamic, its far more focused on extreme macro and cutting edge timings because of its increased speed. BW has much more room for maneuverability at the user control level, makes it more interesting to watch.
I haven't found it interested in years so I'm not going to do that, but are you really going to tell me its more diverse than the play between BW pros like Mini, Snow, Bisu or Best as protoss for example? Those guys aren't playing remotely the same at the top level and you can often tell without a name who it is likely to be within a couple minutes of gameplay. This extends far below the top, its evident in the high level foreigner scene as well, nobody will ever confuse the way Bonyth plays with Dewalt, etc.@@keizan5132
Brood War is so simple man, look how even now they're like "OMG he made a unit no one EVER has before! So cool!" like wow how unimaginative you all must be to not try new things for 25 years. Someone tries something new in SC2 and no one notices because they're so 'guy in the chat' level they don't even realise what they're watching.
I wonder if starcraft 2 is so much easier why didn't all the brood war pros who played it completely dominate? So weird hearing artosis talk about sc2 when he played it for such a short time. The skill in sc2 (at the high level) is tiny changes that make you win, like one side having a 1 degree wider concave or macroing to have 2% more units than your opponent. The little nuances only show up when you're at maybe top 200 in the world level, but the game still has a lot of depth. A lot of this is invisible to people watching, unless you're also at that level, which is I guess how artosis hasn't managed to pick up on it.
Because sc2 doesn't allow room for greatness to expand. Broodwar is a WAY harder game. This means the most skilled players have infinite space to get better and better than the competition. In sc2 it is harder to become better than your competitors because the game is easier to play.
There's a video from jinjin5000. It's a translated clip of Flash to be precise. He explains that SC2 was made too easy compared to bw and he elaborates futher. Short summary is that macro-skill was simplified so much that it didn't matter on high-skill level. If everyone has great macro then you can not "out-macro" your opponent.
Broodwar has all of that as well. On top of that everything is harder to control and less forgiving. That's why Broodwar is harder. Also it doesn't follow that if you master a difficult skill you're also a master of any easier skill. Like saying "If rocket science is so much harder than auto mechanics, why can't they just fix their own cars?" Some probably do, most probably let mechanics handle it because cars are not the same as rockets, 2 separate skills. Some knowledge carries over for sure, but there are alot of little nuances you don't get till you master the craft. Doesn't mean auto mechanics is just as difficult as rocket science.
Grew up playing BW. Dudes... sc2 is WAY harder. BW skill floor is way higher but SC2 skill ceiling is noticebly higher than BW's as well. Don't let your inner F rank Bronze heroes fool you on this and don't fail to recognize the big difference between skill floor and skill ceiling. The most skilled sc2 players are faster and more precise than any gamers out there. No wonder why they dominate in any e-sport they go if they migrate which can't be said as categorically for BW players; which are gods too, though, don't get me wrong
@@Anubis1993KZWow, so easy that he dominated SC2 like he did with BW, right? Flash is an olympic god but Sc2 is just too fast. Also, if you really think that you can't outmacro your opponent in SC2 you're pretty much clueless. I'd bet Flash said that back in 2013 or smth when no one was really good at the game nor the strategy was any polished like nowadays.
starcraft 2 was interesting for like a minute. BTW fastest possible maps on sc1 offer a lot of the same dynamic as sc2 games like for example bio is viable for terran vs toss, id rather watch Braingod instead of GSL
