( I need to tell you something of critcal importance! ) I care about you as a person, and ( just know that you are listening to a hypocrite telling you these things I'm about to tell you; I don't honor them always as I should ) I very much urge you to listen to this to the finish: The scriptures tell us that Jesus Christ died for people's sins- I speak for all who are children of God through faith in Jesus the Christ and His gospel, which can be thought of as being the story of Jesus's life, His purposes for being sent, and what He accomplished to win our salvation: now receive the knowledge of this truth: that our nature is sinful and that we have transgressed God and owe Him a debt of justice to be repaid; ( being hell; just forget your human logic behind justice ); we all are sinners and by default are due for the judgement of our sin, but with God's remarkable free gift of justification and forgiveness, with the work of Christ's life, the death+punishment and resurrection from the dead, being the "means" you could say, for this salvation of ours (the believers) to be won for us: whoever will have their faith ( and, according to my interpretation that this is not just a hearing of the facts, and claiming to yourself or to others "I believe it" with your mouth, and doesn't cause you to live according to the life Christ set out for us; but this rather is a faith that cries out to God "have MERCY on me!" and depends on Him ( Jesus and His finished work ) as your only hope for forgiveness and being saved, that through Him, you'll be pardoned from the Judgement of your Sins by God, because of His finished work, in what He came into this life to do, and you be reborn, ( a change of heart about your life and reality with your new knowledge of the truth, the truth that sets you free ) and be saved! Now, being a believer is not wearing a cross chain or putting a cross bumper sticker on your car or reposting some Christian meme on your phone; in fact there's so many people who *think* they're Christian, but they're living a lie, and that's scary. Faith without works is dead, and although we are saved by faith alone, the faith that SAVES is NEVER alone; thats like claiming you trust someone to catch you, but you won't do the trust fall to let them catch you; now if you believe Jesus, live according to the life he set out for us. ( we won't be perfect at it though ). Upon believing, once God marks you as His Own with the presence of the Holy Spirit ( the Spirit and power of God) in your heart, which will dwell within you!, this will bring about a life, bearing fruits for God! And you will be reborn as a new creature! With a renewed heart, no longer being a slave to your own sin but now walking by the Spirit ( described by the Bible as being a Comforter, Teacher, and Convictor of your sin to your conscience ) and not by the flesh (the will of your sinful self, and passions contrary to the things of God). Basically in simpler terms that with being born again, with the Holy Spirit entering you forever, the Holy Spirit will influence your conscience/heart, prompting you away from walking in the deadness of the ways of your sin ( albeit, we won't be perfectly successful at it in this life; the Bible says that the Spirit is willing but the flesh is weak; the Spirit and the flesh do battle against each other in the being of a person; we won't go on to be sinless, but surely we will sin - LESS, because Christ came not only to save us from the consequence of sin, but also from the power and influence of sin as we live out our lives ); repent your sins! Repent. Turn away from your sins ( again, I am hypocritical for saying this because I can always be better at honoring all these things I'm saying ), but dont take lightly the knowledge of the things of God and the chance you have to be saved in this life! Repent and believe in Christ and Christ's Gospel! Amen, i hope all who read this have a heart to hear; eternity is ETERNITY, and this life is NOT eternity; it's like a vapor in the wind; and again, the whole overall theme of everything I'm saying is GOOD NEWS- that's literally what "gospel" means, good news! We HAVE a savior! The Son of God Jesus Christ! What a glorious thing! And a strong hope for eternal life! There is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus; they have passed from death ( and hell ) to life! My prayers and best wishes to you all who read this, Grace and Peace from the Lord Jesus Christ and God the Father be with you!! ❤
@no. Liszt wanted to play and compose pieces only he could play himself But at hes last years he realised he wanted hes pieces to be remembered. And sadly he realised after chopins death Even chopin himself didnt like liszt pieces
@@robertselims9149 chopin was pretty picky on what composers he liked and what pieces, but he was a very technically man and wanted things to be done a certain way
Fantastic. I grew up with my Father playing this very piano. He purchased it from Rubenstein and shipped it to PNG! It's amazing to see the piano I now have in my home, right here.
Anita Rhodes: that's really special. I saw him on the Today show several times in his later yrs (I think he lived to be 95). My mother attended his 1943 concert in Constitution Hall in DC, Tchaikovsky concerto with the BSO/Serge Koussevitsky (hope I spelled his name correctly). Her eyes would drift into another plane of existence telling me about it. Did you know what a "ladies man" he was--something he shared that with Liszt!
I love this interpretation. The melody is so clearly defined, notably in the first section up to the first cadenza. This is something I always have strived for when playing this piece, and is executed so clearly by Rubinstein. Though I think Cziffra's cadenzas are more technically perfected, I still think Rubinstein's interpretation is the go-to when looking for a 'perfect' version.
Yeah, but dude on the couch is facing east as Ruby faces north. Perhaps dude should watch from in front of the fireplace. And why is no one wearing a smoking jacket? Oh, and the pic on the wall is crooked. Was there a fistfight earlier?
he plays a completely different interpretation then I typically hear more often now, and the way he sticks out the melody so clearly is something I’ve never seen to this extent before. So beautiful.
How I like this 21 people that think that this is bad performance.. Great pianist in far away times and the masterpiece itself are played brilliant. How could anyone think that this is bad video?! Ridiculous
The sound of an old piano plus the white noise of old recording equipment it’s like watching family videos everything has such a genuine feel to it- beautiful.
Rubinstein's is the best I have heard of this piece. Although the recording is old, you can still hear the beautiful Steinway piano tone and natural improvisatory style of the performance. Marvelous! There may be better more modern recordings of this by Rubinstein.
I'm actually convinced that it's because of his coordination of arm weight, gravity and control of the key. I've experienced drastic changes in my tone like that but by the time I wake up the next day, it's gone again. …. really frustrating.
That was wonderful. I wonder if you'd forgive me if I made a special request. My favorite video is your upload of Liebestraum, and I've played it so often that I've worn out the replay button. It would be nice to hear it without noise.
This is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. These hisses of the sounds just give the music a glum and authentic tone, and Mr. Rubinstein's conplacency and accuracy just makes it even more pleasant.
The recording quality creates harsher sound prominent especially in the stringendo build leading to climax (and I also would've preferred greater accelerando/fluidity and sound projecting from piano instead of pressed down [preventing an almost rude sound] leading to the climax), but I suppose it also adds to an overall sense of wistfulness and nostalgia that Rubenstein portrays in the piece. Wonderfully deep, resonant, and rich (reminiscent of dark chocolate) Steinway sound, especially evident during the theme. The theme is played so wonderfully raw and genuine and unadulterated. It is like Liszt being so ineffably passionate about something, but feels so vulnerable, so exposed upon expressing it. There is a hesitancy, an inner turmoil in this theme that is so gloriously... human. As Liszt begins to speak of this person/passion, he loses himself in it... he begins to let go of his inhibitions, truly and wholly reveal his love. After his bellowing proclamation to the world his love, he realizes just how exposed he made himself, and returns to his reticent state- still magnificently passionate, but more sheltered, more cautious. There is such a pure and transcendent tenderness in this music that I can't describe in words. It makes my throat constrict and grips at my heart. It brings tears to my eyes. Rubinstein and Liszt are completely in sync. This is my favorite rendition of the piece :)
+Kraechtshammer Trust me, my german friend told me. being a german, the first thing you wanna do is to tell everybody that you are a german. Regardless it's a insignificant detail.
in my opinion this is the best interpretation of this pieces. i'm going to play this in a concert tommorow and this video acutally helped me to solve the problems i had with it. thank you so much for uploading!!
My piano teacher in college would always tell me the wonders of watching him live and would always send me recordings of him for the pieces I was working on and I would see other interpretations and none could compare.
love this performance! every notes seems to vibrate and linger after he press the keys. I like his play much more than most of professional pianist that is still active today.
Barton is great, but it doesn't make too much sense in discussing which pianist is better. Music is one form of art. And art allows the options of varied qualification and personal philosophy. I never say Rubinstein is the best pianist in the world. However, it is so wildly and highly recognized that, Rubinstein surely is one of the best pianist in human history.
I've been 'browsing' by all the Liebestraum no.3 videos on youtube. And seriously, this one is just overwhelming, hands down the most touching one. Thank you for the upload.
Plenty of modern liebestraum recordings are just as, if not technically more proficient. This recordings magic I think comes out of that slightly sharp middle C
Well i think it's more special bcs it was recorded with the equipment at that time and produced this crackle sound. I love that. And u know, youtube is the closest thing to time travel machine that we have now. So listening to this record makes me kinda travel to the past and watching Rubinstein himself
Then you have 2 solutions. Listen to someone else playing it or try to restore the audio file. You can easily upgrade the quality and there are pro that could even do a good remaster.
The other man at the end of the video looks completely and utterly humbled by his experience of listening to Liebestraum for what is probably the 1000th time. Almost a troubled sense of calmness. It is certainly difficult to comprehend how Liszt was able to say so much with a single piece of piano music. Humanity at it's finest.
I do not disagree on the passion and greatness. You are 100% correct. I am overwhelmed every time I listen to this; and it is often. I guess you and I cannot help it and that is a good thing. :)))
That sound quality is beautiful, I could hear the piano’s soul unite perfectly in harmony as he whistles his fingers into the keys, thus performing such a everlasting feeling of peace
Not sure if anyone else noticed that extra note at 3:22, at the end of that phrase...naught Rubenstein ;) haha but this recording really is awesome. He didn't take it ridiculously fast, like some others did (and still do), and his tone IS amazing +bledredwine
Is there ANYONE who projects more sheer DIGNITY than Rubinstein at the Steinway?! It's a joy to behold the Maestro at work (and I was blessed to do so in person on several occasions)!
Finally a pianist who actually knows how to play this piece correctly. Too many people rush through it. Its meant to be played slowly and with feelings. He plays it very nicely.
Pra mim este pianista foi a reencarnação de Chopin ou de Lizst. Observem que ele toca de olhos fechados.Um virtuose! Belíssima interpretação!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you for the upload! Also, did anyone notice that at 3:25 the b natural was played with a g? I can't seem to find an edition with that, was it an interpretation by Arthur?
