The Arturia Astrolab is a beautiful stage keyboard and in this detailed review I demo sounds, talk about the features and controls, and give my impressions of this keyboard from the perspective of a live performer. The Astrolab combines many of the great sounds from Arturia's library along with some really well thought out controls....I'm impressed!
What do you think of the new Astrolab? Is this the start of something new and exciting for Arturia?
Stay tuned as I'll be releasing a bunch of videos on how to use the Arturia Astrolab over the coming weeks!

Looks good. Not sure I understand the value proposition. There is a customer for this keyboard but I’m not exactly sure who it was intended to serve.

I thought the Astrolab was a really cool product at first but have seen a number of video for people using it for gigs and it's not as exciting to me any more. First I'm and old guy and eyes are what they used to be so as soon as I saw that tiny round screen I knew the Astrolabe would have to be great for me to consider it. I've been moving back more into recording lately and trying to keep things simple so Astrolab seems appealing with the Analog Lab Pro included, but all those synths and other sound you're only getting the presets for them and can only make basic changes the few knobs on the board has. To dig now you have to buy the sounds and use your computer to mod. That seems to be and issue with people actually trying to use the Astrolabe on gigs, only presets, little tweaking live, and have to purchase the individual sounds or the V Collection to really get full control. So to me the Astrolab is a nice first edition product, but going to need a few upgrade cycles to mature.

Some pads would’ve been nice. Playlist only 9 patches? I want quick access to over 100 if I’m playing live.

Playlists in AstroLab are divided into Songs, each of which in turn can contain up to 128 Presets

Is there a way to (non-octave) transpose?

As you inferred, it looks like Arturia paired a Google Nest thermostat with their keyboard....lol. It's a shame they didn't use all that blank real estate on the left area of the keyboard panel for a touch display, but I guess that would cut into their profit margin and drive the cost higher. I would assume they would include a computer editor (?).

They keyboard connects with Analog Lab for full control over the sounds, but you do need to own the instruments in the V collection or have purchased them separately.

The Thermostat is awesome and the empty space is great for additional accessories.

I can just never take a keyboard seriously for the professional if it uses a wall wart or power supply instead of a standard 3-prong plug. Too hard to replace in a pinch.

If Arturia is really smart they come out with an iPad editor , and they could make som smaller desktop controllers like Roland dit in the past that fits in the space on the top , i would like to see the whole Arturia suite on IPad Pro😊

Thanks for making this video! Glad it's working out for you. Not really for me as I already have V Collection X and enjoy sound design. Praise seems like a good market for a standalone preset keyboard. The Polybrute 12 is more appealing to me.
