Rishabh Rajan uncovers 10 of the very best features for studio and live musicians and producers of Arturia's powerful, compact MIDI controller and sequencer, KeyStep Pro.
Thanks so much for sharing ! I have had my KSP for many months now and NEVER had a clue about number 4! Wow! I can have a one bar pattern, but have 3 other variations to that pattern, without even having to program them in?! Damn!
concise and clear instruction, thanks for this. Never mind all the zillion things it does perfectly, recording arpeggiation would be a very welcome addition.
Very good and helpful. Is there any way I can get the modes to light up when I'm playing single notes so I can learn the notes in the scales and in each mode? I'm trying to learn piano and I already have this keyboard.
Is it possible to have recorded sequencer input realtime-quantized, so that non-quantized notes are never played through to the MIDI output? When adding notes to a sequence by playing, it destroys the illusion of a seamlessly evolving sequence, when the realtime-played notes are slightly off. And they almost always are slightly off, compared to the machine-played sequence. Arpeggiators usually do it that way: when you add more notes to your chord, the new notes are only played when the arpeggiator hits them, not immediately. But I'd like the same for sequencers. I have the Keystep 37 and haven't found a way to make it work like that. Looking at the KeyStep Pro manual, what I'm talking about would be something like forward-only quantization, in real-time. Unquantized MIDI notes never output, only perfectly in time. I have no problem playing slightly in front of the beat.
Can you have more than one instrument sharing each of the KSP's four sequencer tracks? For instance, could I connect 2-3 different Volca Drums to the drum track to give me 12-18 drum voices? Would the KSP allow me to run two synths (on different MIDI channels) on the same melodic sequencer track?
Nice video! Are the sounds coming from the keystep itself, or does it trigger a vst in your DAW? And is it able to sequence 4 external synths at the same time, and would you be able to adjust for example reverb or any filter of the synths on the fly, while it is being sequenced? And would you be able to change a preset on synths and overdub, without affecting the sequence that already is in play from that synth?.. If not, what sequencer on earth would be able to do these things that has been asked above, thanks in advance!
All my control sequenced filter sweeps sound choppy like its being divided up on the steps. They don’t sound smooth. I’ve tried everything. I’ve started with a new clear program. Tried with different synths on different channels. All knobs are set to individual midi ch.s. Still choppy filter sweeps. Real-time recording is when this is happening. Any clue? According to another RU-vidr, this is how it behaves. Which is terrible if true.
