This is an old wedding Arvanite song, that have the roots from the times, when Arvanites got married only between their Arberor blood, they didn't mix with other races and cultures.
Till around the middle of the 20 century, the majority of Arvanites didn't know any other language, but spoke the Illyrian language that inherited from their grand grandfathers.
Anvanites today speak their language but the number of people who knows this language is small.
Is our duty, to collect and cultivate this language and traditions, that are the oldest in Europe, and further.
We need the help of everybody that feels that in their veins runs still some Arbëror blood...
Arvanites sing this song even today in their beautifull weddings.
Lets wish them, for many more weddings, so they have many more brave sons, that will speak that beautiful language till the sun will raise for the last time.
God bless Arbëror blood every where they live...
Greu moj nu, moj nusezë
Greu moj nuse të të shomë!
Greu moj nuse të të shomë
Je ashtu siçë na thonë?
Proksene, moj nusezë
Prokseneti* tha penesi*
Prokseneti tha penesi
Je ashtu, se mos na qeshin?
Je ashtu moj nusezë
Je ashtu siçë na thanë.
Je ashtu siçë na thanë
Djali do të shtjer sevdanë!
Prokseneti = Mblesi, shkesi, ai që shkon për të kërkuar dorën e nuses...
Penesi = Tha fjalë të mira, e lavdëroi, dha opinion të mirë për vajzën.
