My AR Wing Pro draws between 5 amps at cruise and about 25 amps in a full throttle climb. your amperage seems way too high for that stock motor... maybe due to running your prop backwards as others have already pointed out. I also think a folding prop and setting your ESC to brake hard at zero throttle forcing it to fold rather than auto rotate is essential to guarantee you dont brake a prop or rip the motor off as has happened to yours on landing. I use an Aeronaut Cam Carbon 8x5 on mine with an Aeronaut 38mm Prop Hub 7242/21 Ive 3d printed an insert to make the stock motors 5mm shaft sit in the 8mm hole and also serves to limit both the forward and rearward swing of the prop blades so they don't hit the model or each other when folding back (as therres no fuselage between them like they would have in normal tractor use)

Thanks for taking the time to watch and leave a comment. The high amp draw was 100% because I had the prop on backwards (rookie mistake). I'm looking into folding props, so I appreciate your suggestions. Thanks.

The other advantage of folding props is faster and more efficient gliding between periods of powered flight. An auto rotating prop causes way more drag than you would think. I am hoping to be able to ridge soar my wing with the throttle off when I get better conditions this summer. Anyway I enjoy meeting and watching the flights of other AR Wing pilots... Good luck with all your future flights.

Amazing build series! I'm sticking to it to build mine, quick question: is there any other launch method other than the auto launch? Like how it happens on the sim? Or is it a better idea to stick with the auto launch?

Thanks for the kind words, and I'm glad you're finding it helpful. I'm not sure about "how it happens on the sim", but the INav autolaunch system is an amazing feature. You don't need to throw the plane over your head like I do with this wing. I just feel more comfortable launching it that way. Many people use a side arm toss to keep hands away from the propeller. The autolaunch system just takes over and makes sure that the plane levels out to a controlled flight position and then climbs. Of course you can always launch in full manual mode which completely bypasses the flight controller and is essentially the same as flying with a receiver and servos only. I fly in manual mode a lot, but I'm not good enough to launch in it. I hope this helps out a bit.

Your prop looks like it's in reverse of what it should be

Thanks for dropping the comment and for the offer of the motor plates. I'm OK for now. I was able to cut a few more from scrap plywood I had.

Thanks for the comment. I don't know much about the 900, except I've heard good things about it. This was my first attempt at a wing, so I had to start somewhere.

Nice flight. Looks an awful lot like the bald ass prairies I usually fly in.

Folding Prop?
@blueskyfpv
@blueskyfpv 8 месяцев назад
I personally haven't used any folding props. The Aeronaut or Graupner Cam systems are both recommended by many if you are looking into them for yourself.
