@ James Johnson and Thor Stokke, Settling with Power or Vortex Ring State requires 3 things. Zero / No Airspeed, RoD in excess of 300ft p/min and Power On. Massive Rate of Decent? Yes. Power On? Yes. Low / No Airspeed less than Translational Lift? No! No risk of VRS there.

Ah c'est superbe le glacier du bionassey. on y accède par le tramway du mont-blanc, jusqu'à la gare du nid d'aigle, puis par un sentier.

I wonder if its the same pilot who crashed and took 3 other lives with him when this aircraft hit gondola cables a few years ago.

Way to get into settling allright! And get the hook into the tailrotor! That is just plain stupid piloting! The high number of hotheads in the industry is what causing high insurances for all of us! Wonder what kind of internal rules they have regarding training..
