Erdogan has to allow this trip to happen because I think he is doing badly in the local elections for not making more of an effort to help the Palestinians. The Turkish army is one of the strongest army in the World. Good look to all these people and Dimitri for having the guts to take part in this Flotilla of Aid for the Palestinians.

Erdogan made strong statements against Israel stand on Palestinians but he is not in a position to give lessons to anyone considering the Armenian and Kurdish policies of his government. It is not as if Turkey had a great distance to do to reach Israel but his direct involvement would be politically unsustainable on the long run. Turkish people may be at a high level pro Palestinian but a direct conflict with Israel would make this pleasant stroll on the Bosphore something of the past.
