Shaped By Fire was produced by the band and was mixed by Joseph McQueen at Sparrow Sound in Los Angeles, CA while mastering was completed by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound in Nashville, TN. The only exception was for the track “My Own Grave” which was produced by AS I LAY DYING, co-produced by Drew Fulk and mixed by Adam “Nolly” Getgood. The artwork was created by Corey Meyers.

For me, I got into this band when I was 13, in 2012. I was just getting into metal, listening to a lot of Killswitch and some Trivium, maybe a few singles by other bands. I remember sitting in a car seat listening to Nothing Left for the first time thinking "This is really cool!" More memorable for me is the first time I listened to Anodyne Sea. That was the first breakdown I'd ever heard. 13 yo me was mind blown. Awakened was released around that time, and No Lungs to Breathe had that insane guitar solo. It was just one thing after another with these guys, and I quickly became an obsessive fan. They were on tour with Killswitch in early-mid 2013, and I of course had a ticket to the show. My first ever metal show. The show was in July, I had the ticket by the beginning of April. The news of Tim's arrest came to me on May 8th. That was probably the worst thing I heard all year. Over the next couple years, I listened to AILD more and more and can recite every track from every signed record by memory. I missed them, and actually felt grief for a while, since I believed they were gone for good. After the news of Tim's release, I thought with everyone else that there'd be some kind of activity; maybe Tim would start his own band, or AILD would be reformed with all new members. I was pretty sure something would happen to give us closure and a proper burial of the band. All we had were random, infrequent facebook posts, most notably the one that just says "activity." in summer 2016 or 17. In June of 2018, I was gone for a week an came back to see that I missed AILD's release of a clip of a new song. It didn't show any band members, just a guitar neck and blurry figures. Then the song dropped. As I Lay Dying was back. All the members from An Ocean Between Us forward. Then Redefined. Then Shaped By Fire. Now we have Blinded. Guys, this is a good time to be alive.

I got chills reading this haha. AILD is my all time favorite band and no other band even comes close for me. I remember whem tim got arrested, i was so bummed out that the end had arrived for my favorite band that i completely stopped listening to music altogether for about 6 months...maybe like a grieving period haha. When i first saw "activity" a big part of me wanted to believe the guys were back but another part of me was thinking the account had been hacked or something. Then the singles started rolling in. One amazing track after an other. I got the full album leaked today and every single song off the album is incredible! All their albums are amazing, but for me this one is on a whole other level of greatness!

@@jay-ci3lc honestly it's all heavy man, but gatekeeper is the heaviest and has no clean vocals. Oh and there is absolutely no bad songs. From start to finish they're all amazing. If i HAD to pick my least favorite...i'd probably say shaped by fire and i still love that song so that says alot haha

@@TriggerFingerRC I just heard the album got leaked on RU-vid definitely was worth the wait gatekeeper was sick reminded me alittle of within destruction and that solo just screamed "an ocean between us" and the wreckage was a beautiful song as well if I had to pick my favorite I'll have to say blinded....7 years was definitely worth the wait for sure cannot to see how these songs sound live

@@thelonewolf7443 I've listened to the album front to back just once, and I would rate it an 9/10.....compared to the others it's a breath of fresh air, being that they haven't released an album since 2012. It's a banger from front to back, respectfully given there is some slower tracks on this album, but still great all the way through. I would say Shaped by fire album as a whole is a mix between an ocean between us and the powerless rise....but some songs are in Drop A, which the title track recorded in , which was also mixed and mastered apart from the rest of the album as u can hear it. I would put this new album smack dab between the Powerless rise and Awakened.

@@thelonewolf7443 i'm supporting he's meaning by an hundred percent, I was afraid they do, as many metalcore bands do nowadays, i mean : Great singles, and then 2/3 soft generic song and 3/4 heavy but simple songs and it's done like all the bests songs are the singles, but it's not, every song could be a single and that's what i love : we got an album with 11 real songs!

Tim said in an interview they're top 10 metalcore band....FALSE...they're the kings of metalcore. There's other GREAT metalcore bands but no others come close to AILD.

Tim's smile is the look of a man that got off the hook for something he should still be locked up for. Utterly and truly unforgivable. It just sucks that the rest of the guys sold out for the paycheck. They're so talented and great people... But Tim is not and redemption is not possible for him.
