As I prepared for summer, I had no idea what was coming... | Life update (vlog)

May was a very eventful time for me. We were heading into the fifth month of my father's hospice care and I was starting to believe we were in it for the long haul. And so I found myself determined to stop putting everything on hold by diving into postponed projects and finally preparing for the transition into summer.
I finished editing endless footage...but when I went to upload it in early June, I couldn't find it. Perhaps it was meant to be, as things took a dramatic turn that month. Those weeks ended up being my father's last. He passed away at the end of June.
It turned out there was a change of season that was far more significant than spring turning to summer.
I decided to record an updated vlog to go with the footage from May, something that more accurately depicts where I'm at in my current journey. And in a way, I'm glad I was forced to make a new video for this subject. It feels more substantive from this new perspective.
So join me as I share all the ways I prepared for summer: baking bread, putting away the flannel sheets, packing up my winter clothes and bringing out my summer wardrobe...
I'm proud of myself for everything I accomplished that month - especially for finally (FINALLY!) replacing the old curtains that I made for the house I lived in with my ex (I'm so glad to see them go!), and putting up a shelf behind the washer and dryer.
I'm also proud of myself for taking an impromptu road trip to the Oregon coast so I could get some time away from the heaviness of my father's hospice care.
I'll be posting more on the laundry room project and the trip to the coast at some point soon.
Much love for any of you going through a similar time of deep change and grief. May you find comfort in your home and adventure always awaiting you the moment you are ready.
xoxo,
Y
