Alan is a credit to the company and has just completed his first commercial on their behalf. I hope they pay him commission on the extra sales that he has brought in. 👏
He said it was like Tesco Express. God knows how many old ladies will be popping by now for their weekly shop. Obviously he is t the smartest tool in the drawer
Yet more proof that you don't go around trying to antagonise people and it is only the people that antagonise you. Great audit, very interesting thanks.
I can tell you Eddy, I am probably as polite as DJ Audits and Random Outings when I do my street photography/videography , but whist I don’t want any RU-vid content, or in any way to antagonise anyone , there are certain personality types that will go out of their way to BE antagonised , and then play the victim. This is why I Like auditing videos , I am all for P.I.N.A.C activists, and these guys are entertaining and educational . Truth is those personality types , think they are the interesting subject matter , but it’s more likely to be a stone carving , or a building , but some folks are so self obsessed of their image , and their rights there is no arguing with them 😢
Yea but from his manner you could tell he has a cool head. I don't think he would greet anyone with unjust disrespect. Though wouldn't be clever to test his patience as say he can handle himself.
What a great chap Alan was. I bet sales go up as a result of his friendly and knowledgable interaction. If I had a path or drive to do I'd feel comfortable going there for the materials. 👍
Alan was a top chap, well done ... and we all learned something again. Brilliant. (The go-karts looked like a lot of fun. Respect to them for stopping and giving way to the other person).
Alan you are the Star of the Week. Great to have someone pleasant & courteous, wanting to share their knowledge & to promote such good relations with members of the public. Big up the smaller businesses with their much more personal touch. Great video DJ. Well done.
What a nice guy Alan was! To say he was coming to see what you were upto he told you everything they are upto without any fuss. I hope anybody who's going there for any stuff after seeing your video mention Alan so his bosses see what a good job he did here representing the company. Nice one DJ
Allen is a very nice and knowledgeable guy. What an excellent representative for the company. This was one of the best videos I've seen by you. Very interesting and informative.
Alan is an honourable man ..a gentleman ...a scholar and a credit to his company...he should have his own asphalt channel on youtube and teach other companies how to approach visitors and you DJ that was a bbc class interview that would not be out of place on radio 4 ......well done to you both
How refreshing ! Doesnt ask . Are you filming ? what are you doing ? why are you filming our site ? Just straight into answering your questions and representing the company. Top Job Adam !!
Nice one Alan, your a credit to your company. Your just the sort of guy I would have gone for in my younger days. I am now old enough to be your mum!! And if I was, I would be so very proud of you. Brilliant video. ❤
The tarmac (or bitmac) wearing courses usually come in 6mm aggregate for footways and 10mm for carriageways. Alan was a good fella, a credit to the company.
Two excellent days in a row! Loving them. Lotus = tippity top. Makes me think I should live in Nottinghamshire! Much as everyone enjoys the argy bargy and how DJ deals with it, I prefer to be informed, rather than/ as well as, entertained. In my book, these two are definitely ‘ audits of the year’ contenders, and we’re only in February 😁
Thank you so much for your professionalism and demeanour, Adam! Huge respect to you! This is exactly how it should go. It it obvious that Adam is very good for the business! Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦!
Best guy since the wine trader . Wow you learn lots on here. I wanted to find out how long it stays warm and flexible. Great accent "now" is "naaa". Maybe he already knew it was DJ but I imagine Alan is always convivial like that.
What a pleasant guy Alan is. And a viewer too. When the people at these places are nice and open about what they do, we the viewers learn a whole lot more. Nice one DJ 👍🏼😁
I really enjoyed that, and thank you to Alan for educating us. Also how tidy is that site. I wrongly assumed a tarmac site would be filthy. All bays are spotless and no cross contamination at all, everything squared away and in it's place - Love it
I used to do road maintenance for many years and have spent many hours in Tarmac/ Asphalt plants. This one is quite small, extremely well kept looking at it, there are 4 bays of stone size 13:58 on the left 6mm used for footpaths and private driveways etc, 10mm Is harder wearing for for some road types, then 12- 15mm for base courses used for a under lay and for hot rolled asphalt which is most 80% of most roadways. There should be a sand bay somewhere to. The covered area is gritting shed, its used to stop the asphalt from sticking the the lorry base on transport (Some use to use diesel but its banned now and glad it is) & a binder in some tarmac mixes, also its used for a finishing surface after the Asphalt has been rolled to stop the tacky oils from sticking to feet and tyres, its dusted over the surface. From the gritting shed the trucks reverse under the chute which is right next to the loading shovel. A control operator will see this on camera from the operations control. The top bay is from a clear out waste from the machines mixer, after its cleaned internally, the loading shovel will go under the chute pick it up and put it in that bay, it will prob be recycled in a grading machine which is like a huge shaker and will sort the stones sizes out Them plants break down all the time and need constant plant engineers on site. Fascinating places really. Alan is a top man 👍🏻
Great bloke, and two top quality responses to your audit on the trot. Is the next one going to be a hat-trick? Also it's one in the eye to anyone who thinks you and your viewers just want to see hostile confrontations when we do actually want to just learn and see from an alternative standpoint to looking online or studying.
I genuinely think these companies are starting to get it and what your all about ,let's not forget there getting 15+ minutes of free advertising on the radio and TV that would cost thousands, won't be long before you will be getting contacted off companys to come and film .
DJ, I think you should do a yearly review of the most pleasant/professional/informative staff members of businesses you audit, I’m sure Alan would make the top 10 👍👍👍
Brilliant video again DJ. I have to say the guy from Tarmac was a real credit to the depot and his company. Very informative, didn't try to get technical and answered every question. 10/10 to all concerned.
Massive respect to the Alan who actually took the time to come and have an adult conversation and explain the process to you respect to him for that he's done him self and the company a massive favour there by been a gentleman 👍
Great guy, he was friendly switched on , and knowledgable too . ( I must admit that when I saw the big fellow approach , was thinking , this could be ‘interesting ‘ and it was, just not the type of interesting conversation that we got .) I have hired one of those ‘Whackers’ before , and they have a mind of their own 😂
A very professional image of the company was delivered by Alan. He is a credit to the company and if his boss does see this video I'm sure he will think just the same. The yard was impeccable setup in a clean and methodical layout. A very well run place is what I see. And as always thanks DJ for the making these and the amount of people that know about DJ audits is great, I'm honestly expecting to see you on a tv channel of some sort soon mate. I have a daily routine well set in now--Finish a stressful night shift--Grab Cup of tea--turn on PC--Watch DJ Audits uploads--Then Sleep zzzz. Keep up the work and thank you 🤛
Alan is a credit to himself and the company, I hope he comes here to see the positive comments regarding him and his conduct...and anybody who was less than desirable with theirs to learn from Alan!
Fair Play to Alan sound bloke he is completely right in what he said that good rakemen are worth their weight in gold and its not as easy as people think eyeing up the levels and falls on driveways, One fact he did miss was that you can skip using MOT if you have a concrete base but you need to put down some taccoat as a bonding agent. My local tarmac also does a pick up service which we have used for many a year when we only need 1-3 ton. As for why an estimate may be more expensive than you thought is because you pay for empty space in the wagons and wait times and its not cheap and at this time of year with the cold and rain usually its better to have th wagon wait if your a small buisness as if you put it down in these conditions the material tends to go hard and not compact right. You can use double sheeting if you need to tip one on the ground one over the top to trap the heat in and slow down the cooling progress but not worth it. where as in summer you can have it sitting on the ground a few hours if it hot enough but its horrible to lay during a heat wave sun beaming from above and ground boiling from below...
I think you were thinking of Type 1 MOT. That's, as the man said, just plain old stone chippings. Type 1, in theory, should contain sufficient different sizes that once compacted it stays very hard and makes a very good subbase. I know nothing about roads, but Type 1 MOT is the standard subbase for most building projects like concrete flooring etc. The others (Type 2 MOT, Type 3 MOT) are the same thing but different grades of stone/different variation in sizes for different purposes (Edit: D'oh, they came back to that - guess who commented before the video ended :D)
Wow, first Lotus and now Tarmac to go. Both highly professional and friendly. Hopefully businesses are learning, well some maybe, still many clueless people out there. Another great video DJ 👍🏻
Alan was very polite and informative. Like the 4.9 mph sign......very precise why not 5 mph. Maybe cos at 4.9 mph drivers take more notice - Brilliant thinking. Well laid video Ta DJ
