As many as 20 British nationals visited Phek village under Phek district on March 31. The visiting British nationalities were received by Chakhesang Public Organization led by its president Vezhühu Keyho and Phek villagers in a grand traditional attires.The visiting team was led by Charlotte Carty, a trustee of Kohima Educational Trust mission to remember her grandfather Lt Col William Felix “Bruno” Brown, who was the CO 1st Assam Regiment, at the time of the Battle of Kohima 1994. Charlotte Carty in her short speech, thanked the warm welcome by the community. The visit is part of the “39 Hours Walking in my grandfather’s footsteps.” The walk to her grandfather's footsteps is part of the upcoming commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the battle scheduled to hold two days of events at the National Army Museum in London from April 20-21, 2024.
