Nice review. You covered almost all the points. I would like to know 'how is the performance of the stock asa nibs?' does the pen burp when in this format(asa nib +feed)?
I really like the classic design. Presumably the feed is ebonite as well? Suggestion: if you could leave a ruler on the desk, it might help viewers get a sense of scale for the pen.
Actually in some cases plastic feeds are more reliable. Finely finned plastic feeds handle pressure difference better thus reducing burping.. The pro with ebonite feed is that it delivers more ink, but ebonite feed cannot be injection molded, so no cartridge converter system... Asa uses ebonite feed for their stock nib. I do not have experience with Asa pens, but I have a pen from Gama, which is quite similar.
@@arunabhalahiri4931 This is the first argument I've heard in favour of plastic feeds. Interesting. I'm not sure how ebonite feeds would preclude the use of converters though?
@@greyareaRK1 to use converters you need to create a piercer, the thin part of the feed, but ebonite is brittle and cannot be injection molded. This is also the reason ebonite feeds do not have fine fins. Due to these inconvenience and the vast convenience of injection molding plastic feeds are now commonly used. If you see an ebonite feed, it's mostly a solid rod with a channel...
@@greyareaRK1 for flex pens nothing is better than ebonite feed for its hydrophilic properties. Plastic feeds rely solely on capillary action and hence cannot keep up with flex writing.. But for regular writing and reliability plastic feeds are seperior and they are very easy to mass produce. Especially feeds from sailor, montblanc pelikan are really engineering marvel. Aurora seems to use ebonite feeds in their piston filler and these feeds are superior to the vintage feeds in terms of reliability...
Hi, is the writing experiance with this nauka fine nib same as pilot metropolitan. In terms of smoothness, feedback and wetness. Can u give a writing sample of all three.
Eyedropper is like filling the inner part of the pen body i.e the lower part with ink and using it as the flow of medium directly instead of using any convertor or cartridges called as tank for some models.
Nibs if we talk about the material then there are steel nibs, gold nibs, iridium nibs, silver nibs, etc. Now if we talk about their makings some pen manufacturer make their nibs on own for their pens which are know as in- house nibs. And there are brands which only make nibs for other brands like jowo, kan write, Schmidt, etc. Jowo is considered the bestest amongst all but it's the user what he likes. Now talking about their types of nibs based on writing style Ef-extrafine, F-Fine,M-Medium,B-Broad,Stub-for calligraphy. There are more acronyms which are used by different brands like UEF-Ultra extra fine,Mf-Medium fine, Lf-Laser fine(lamy I had seen mostly), S-Mf(soft medium fine ) used by sailor pen as I know in their gold nibs and H-Mf(Hard medium fine) ,etc. This list is a very long way to go . Well if something I am missing please complete me and correct me out.
Nice review. I like the matte black (bakul) finish of the pen. The only thing that has stopped from me from buying from ASA again is that my previous experience with them was not good. The pen didn't write well at all, and I never got any response from the seller, even after I emailed them a few times. Still, I must say that their prices are quite on the reasonable side compared to other Indian pen-makers, and that's why I am tempted to give them a try again.
Brother please help me to find where can I buy pilot metropolitan fountain pen. Green colour one. I have been searching for it online from 3 months. And why is it that pilot products aren't available in India.

@@vishaldebnath2881 Cool the metropolitan worked for you, both fine and medium for me was a disappointment. I have some pilot tanks, those are awesome but some of them need some tuning.
Regarding burping, i believe you have to fill the eyedropper pens when they start to run wet, otherwise they will burp. How is the jowo medium or jowo fine when compared to asa fine or medium? I recently bought a gama popular and the nib is quite fantastic out of the box. I think they tune the nib or I just got super lucky. I ordered a gama supreme next, waiting for its arrival. Fingers crossed the nib would be as good as the popular. One problem with asa pens, once a pen goes out of stock, they never return. I didn't want to buy the supreme this soon, but before my eyes it was getting sold out and I had to get one....
Jowo is smoother than ASA. That sometimes works in favour of ASA as the feedback is good. Ya that burp can be taken care if don't let ink fall below 50% but then its a pain. Especially judging in ebonite material. I will be getting off two three Nauka pens at 10% reduced price (hardly used). If keen you can mail me at dr.fountainpens@gmail.com.
