Ark is going to get a major engine upgrade this summer to Unreal Engine 5.4 hopefully improving performance of Ark Survival Ascended. The Center map has also released along with the Fantastic Tames Pyromane which has caused controversy over Pay-2-Win. Aberration is expected to release in August 2024 and Ark runs Pride month throughout June introducing coloured spawns and 3x rates on official servers.

If wildcard does somehow pull off upgrading to 5.4 that would indeed be huge for optimization. BUT, UE5 has a tendency to corrupt games and projects when upgraded to a newer version. This is the concern of potentially breaking the game even more. But if they pull it off it will certainly be great.

@@chinimon8259not really. Pyromane can solo near any cave, squid is easy to get and dominates the water, and the carcha dominates the tek cave (the only challenging cave). Og ark was way more brutal…

1650 ti laptop when i can log in it runs on 40 to 50 fps after using console commands but i have a bug currently where i cant log into any server after playing for the first session Keep in mind singleplayer works fine

As a pve player myself, I'm really expecting more changes with the map and features that could bring some changes of play style. Obviously the center is a let down. 5k+ hours in ASE, I absolutely love the game, when ASA released I did not hesitate to purchase it. I really hope wildcard don't give up in this game and bring better game experience instead of just money grabbing with some unnecessary premium mods and dinos that upgreaded from same old creatures. Like Pyromane is from shadowmane. cost of $5😅

ive known for a while you can just update the engine on the game. they could have just done this for ase and had it be free for the island and paid for everything else and have two different options, asa and ase in the same game like cod does.

I have miserable performance, but it's at least a consistent low frame rate, that's something I can get used to, what I really want to see fixed is the water literally destroying the performance for no reason. I have tried everything there is to try and nothing makes a difference, it's literally the water itself, if I try to walk past the shore it literally becomes unplayable, doing anything in the ocean is going to be a nightmare

No, unless they use frame generation. 60 fps with frame generation will still feel like 30fps due to input lag, maybe a little better. My PC is about 50% more powerful than a PS5 and with lower settings and a lot of console commands I can barely get 60fps. Also, I have optimized Ark better than they have.

Sadly, this is more likely to cause issues than fix them. You like the deathwalls on each map? I'd be surprised if they don't grow and also add complete collision failures to cause your body to fall into unrecoverable oblivion.

I remember that ASE was made on an outdated version of UE4 so devs had to make band-aid fixes on issues that were fixed by later UE4 releases. There were so many band-aids, upgrading the game to the latest UE4 could mess the entire game up. The result is still spaghetti code till this day and in ASA. GP is right, I wouldn't surprise they'll postpone the upgrade till Winter because they have little experience working on this engine. This is literally their learning experience working on UE5.

Game runs fine. I get 100 frames at high settings 1440 p. It's the graphical glitches they need to fix. Water and trees flickering etc

Are you using DLSS, and if so at what setting (quality, balanced, or performance). I see that most people who claim that it runs fine is running it at 720p then upscaling to 1080p or 1440p.

@@ziudra91yea, I use a 7900xtx and amd rsr up scaling tech is a 20fps improvement.. You can't really tell difference between native and the upscale. I have A 1440p monitor and up scaling from the 2nd option before 1440p, 1220 I think... If I lower it more I can see a difference, things look caked up. 1220 is the sweet spot. I get around 70fps with everything on epic except foliage, even 100 graphic scale.. Well over 120with frame Gen.

ASA was the upgrade to Unreal Engine 5. It launched on version 5.2. The intention is to upgrade to the various iterations of UE5 which is going to be 5.4 next.

They count on the engine upgrades to fix their laughable lack of optimization. Nope dear Wildcard, you still have the job to do so this game won't choke 2000 USD PCs to death. At least, they learned one lesson from ASE Early Access, to avoid working on an outdated version of the engine till the entire development cycle. In ASE they worked on such an old version of the UE4 Engine iirc, they've made band-aid fixes on the issues that were solved by a later version of the said engine but upgrading the game to it may have messed the entire game up.

Yeah me too. I like what they did with island, and even center it realistically needed it. It was always like a Island but bigger so it works. I think the boreal snow biome on Center is kind of an L but oh well. However if they do change Abb like that, it would be awful.

I really do not want them to get lazy and just keep reusing the same sandstone texture/assets I want to see pretty much entirely need set of assets for abb. As with Extinction and beyond.

I dont know what to think about that "Pride Month" colors update since im getting alergic to pretty much anything pride related and i still dont understand what was achieved to be proud of? For the Center map i have to say that its not bad but all the brown rocks all over the map looks wierd and when i entered snow grasslands region i kept wondering "where is the snow"? How exactly did they missed giant holes in the map where you can fall under the map as some people have mentioned? I did not went looking for those since i had to retrieve my survivor several times from backup files when it got deleted (with local files) due to the ingame bug since launch of the game. About once on the Island and 3 or 4 times on Scorched Earth, maybe more i lost count. Hopefully that engine update is as impactfull on performance as it sounded. That area of the game still needs tons of work.

No I swear wildcard has LIED to us that ASA is running UE 5.2. I swear it’s running UE 5.1. Nobody remeber when matrix UE 5.0 demo came out? It ran horrible. Oh wait just like ASA is even on 4090. Yup. ASA prob running UE 5.1. Not 5.2 thus why runs so bad. They prob didn’t have enough time to fully upgrade 5.2. Since 5.4 recent made the news. They figure just skip and go straight to 5,4. Maybe. Just maybe Asa will actaully run decent this time. They also said years ago, devs said on stream we’d be getting vulkan.api support for ASE. We all know that never happened. You only need look at steam deck and see how successful it has been. How many windows games sometimes run games better then native windows version. Vulkan is better. DX12 is bloatware. Asa is proof of that.

i have supported a lot of the decisions for Ark Ascended, i like premium mods because mod devs work really hard so getting paid is just fair, I have defended the Pyromane and Bobs Tall Tails because i love the Fire Kitty and Oasisaur (not defending them in PVP/Official never played it), but i am a little worried about the engine upgrade, this is a little off topic a so I'm putting it down here, a message to the grown adults (I'll cut some slack for the kids) bitching and whining about official servers why are you still playing them if they are so bad, just play single player or unofficial it's not hard (and if you don't like the game stop playing no one is forcing you)

I agree with mostly all except that selling the dinos, sets a bad precedent for the future..... And it opens the door for what it..... Ark 2, how much content is gonna get cut becuase now they can sell u a half ass game and make u buy the deluxe or ult edition for more money... Content you aren't getting becuase you didn't pay more... At least bobs tales gave u alot more content.... Pyro should of been part of same kind of deal. They too lazy to provide proper incentives.

Brand new computer of all the best hardware and i have to set it to low everything to maintain 60fps at best. This game is a scam. Unfinished and releasing 40 dollar DLC should be illigal.

Shadows need to be on high or epic or else they will flicker. Advanced graphics have to be on high and you will get higher fps at dawn and dusk (you would think that low or medium would give better fps but that's not the case with this setting). I turned off clouds, fog, cascade shadows, contact shadows, and a shadow mapping for lighting at night like torches. There are still shadows everywhere and they look great but I have high fps gains. Also I turn down nanites to 4 and turned off lumen reflections and adjusted a different lumen setting. Game looks the same minus clouds and fog are gone.

they cant even get the dlc they have working ever since update for centre it says i own dlc in store even tho i bought bobs tall tales on release now it dont work atall and says in game i have to buy it even bought the new dino and exact same with it to and they ignore me when i ask for refund they are nothing but a scam of a company nowadays

I think the hope is that 5.4 will run better (more fps). I think unreal 5 does look great but absolutely runs horrible. Like 15% better graphics at a 50% or more GPU cost.

@@ops-spartacus1420 its probably due to dynamic resolution and aggressive upscaling, esepcially in Thiccc jungles with lots of vegetation, its like the console reduces the resolution to keep the fps from dropping below 30 I might be wrong btw

So its the same old same old shit. Hey everyone who loves our game. Weve got big things 5 years from now. Just fucking milking it. Theyve developed into a greedy company. You dont sell a season pass for future content then immediately pump out a 5$ add on and the 1.99$ to 10$ mods. Cant wait to have half the content
