as a senegalese i really appreciate asake for showing the culture my beautiful country i always been a big fan of him this makes me love him more. viva AFRICA
These beats come from my Island Mauritius 🥹🇲🇺🇲🇺 The sounds of the ravanne, people singing creole at the back, its Sega 😍 Thank you for bringing our culture to other countries and using it to make a masterpiece❤
Thèse beats comes from Senegal and is called "ndawrabine". The fact that the clip is shot in Senegal confirms this. but it may have a resemblance of rhythm with your country too, because it remains Africa
You are very right ….some times it depends on the theme of the song …… some times you just have to fellow the theme of a song or else it’s just wasting of time .
I'm from East Africa and the first time I heard this song I was in tears, deeply connected to it, and the video has not disappointed. This is what connecting with our culture and ancestors looks and feels like! Thank you for honoring africa!
@@enricklugard5779 we know it but the commentator explains how the song connects us ( Sir Asake is from West Africa the commentator from East Africa ) Africa is immense and blessed
Feels like I’m watching a Senegalese African Travel video. Love the Artistic and Cultural Representation. Asake and TG Omori. A match made in heaven 👏🏾🔥!!!
Nigerians and Nigeria is the beacon of hope for all Africa. Nigerians carry everyone along and promote africaness to the fullest. Nigerians like to see everyone win and that’s why they are so happy no matter what.
@@windsorglamourlashesbrowsb3421 FOH with your envy, name one nation in Africa that has brought so much success and positive recognition to Africa in the past few decades? Nigeria and Nigerians literally single handedly woke the world up to the greatness of Africa, literally made it cool to be African again. If you can’t applaud don’t be a hater
Finally Our ancestors can rest in peace coz their descendant (Asake) make them proud, he reminds us of our culture n our root. I can hear voices of our forefathers through him,i can hear the prayers the folktales, i can feel the mother nature talking to me through his craft. May our ancestors protect him n continuously bless him 🇹🇿🇹🇿
Kenyan, Senegalese, Malians, Benin, Cameroon, I mean every African that wish Nigerians well pls pray for a successful election for Nigeria if Nigeria get it right Africa will transform. The spirit of Nigeria is a spirit of real Africa. I am from Egypt 🇪🇬❤ but I just to love that country called Nigeria.
I AM A ZULU BORN AND SPEAKING SOUTH AFRICAN, BORN IN DURBAN. THE WAY I SPIRITUALLY RELATE TO THIS SONG IS BEYOND MY OWN UNDERSTANDING. WHAT A MASTER PIECE OF ART. AFRICA WE ARE ONE.
The sample used on the song is from a well known sadly departed Mauritian singer called "Michel Legris" from the song "Mo capitain". It is with immense pride to see the traditional Mauritian Sega sound being used in such a wonderful way by an artist who really did justice to the original song. Thanks for exposing our sound to the world Asake.
Very true. I just listened to it. the difference is the beat and the modern interpretation of that great song. I am Nigerian but for some time my spirit has been drawing me to Mauritius and this song really connected to my soul. With these revelation you gave, i can understand better. I think there is a wealth of knowledge we need to learn from Mauritius tradition.
This guys music has transcended beyond any award, dare I say even the Grammy.... Asake is simply spiritual!!! Never been more proud to be called an African...or a NIGERIAN.
What people don't know about Asake is that he is a Theatre Arts graduate from OAU who is passionate about what he does. He has directed several stage plays written by notable playwrights. He didn't just come into the music scene as a novice. He has learnt his trade well and knows his onions.
The rythm, the dance is called “Goumbé” from the lebbu culture. It’s spiritual and talks to the spirits of their ancestors… the lebbu are located in Dakar, Sénégal 🇸🇳 where Asake actually shot the video. They live near the sea and men are mostly fishermen and practice wrestling as entertainment. For those who watch the MMA might know the senegalese wrestler Reug Reug he belongs to this community… thank you again Asake for showing the culture 🙏🏾🇸🇳
@@cupidonantoinehebert9122 maybe you have something like that bro in Mauritius but do some research if you want this is Dakar Sénégal 🇸🇳 my hometown and I’m very sure of what i said!
I feel so much connection with my African roots when the breeze whirls around my cheeks while I listen to this highly spirited YOGA. This is raw creativity!!😌
I'm really thrilled that Asake has shot this yoga video in my country Senegal 🇸🇳🇸🇳 and showcasing Senegalese culture. Thanks Asake you are a real Pan-africanist 🙏🏽👍🏾
Wow! As a Nigerian, I'm proud to see my other African brothers commenting and giving accolades to the Music Maestro @Asake. Naija🇳🇬🇳🇬 to the world🌍. We keep representing🥰❤️
Beautiful song! This is how Nigeria showcases Africa to the world. We showcase different cultures from different countries across the continent. We carry Africa along. I hope this love we show blacks is reciprocated by other blacks. Because many Africans just hate Nigerians for no reason. Proudly Nigerian 🇳🇬 💪
@@darmson2 you’re right but that’s the standard we naija always set for our super stars . That alone makes all of them work super hard to meet the Grammy standards..
This is one great piece that speaks culture in every words and art. 🇳🇬 🇸🇳 🇲🇺 This is a grand masterpiece from Asake. 🎊 Asake is a legend and cheers to TG Omori

I’m black American and my fellow Africans I tell u you are making us so proud all around the globe! I cry for this day that Africa will take her rightful place at the top of the mountain of this beautiful world! This song is so amazing! Shout out to Nigeria, our cousins, you are family! ❤️
The filming alone is an art. Every movement, every shot is precisely synced to convey a message while delivering cinematic virtue. This TG OMORI should produce every music video not just in Africa but the world.
@@chukachris unlike what comes out of Hollywood, TG Omori is in sync with the artist, his music and message, then simultaneously conveying it visually. This is some deep level artistry.. Asake himself is a beast unlike non.
As a senegalese man i can say that asake is a very complex artist you can easily feel the senegalese culture and drumbeat and asake just doing what he doingg ...much love 🇸🇳🇸🇳🇸🇳🇸🇳🇸🇳🇸🇳🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬 to the world
If you are here in 2090, I was here in 2023.💜 ASAKE was a young artist who came from GRASS to GRACE. He was among the best musicians of his generation & he was a living LEGEND. In 2023, Nigerian music was doing absolutely well, getting even better everyday and it was loved worldwide. We Nigerians we're proud of this success story. Hope the world is a better place in 2090? Stay safe and be a nice human. 🇳🇬💜💜💜
As a Senegalese Can’t stop listening this song . Where he shouts the video is in 5 minutes from my home. A lot international artists come here to shout video because of demographic and cultural environments with very nice people or community called in Senegal Lebbu in Senegal 🇸🇳 . Thank you Asake 🇳🇬 for representing African cultures specifically mine LEBBU
I heard this song at the local barber in Southampton City Centre listening to it, made me miss home 🇧🇼 Botswana...fell inlove with your song @Asake #well-done ✊✊✊✊✊❤❤❤❤
This guy is a true musical genius......he knows what works for him......he has it all figured out. He doesn't need any club bangers. He's solidified.🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️🇿🇦
For a long time I haven't felt that deep spiritual connection with my ancestors but this song sent me right on that path with its deep connection to my African ancestors.
It will be difficult to consider this song for an award because it is a category of it's own. They will never understand how a musician can temporarily transform into a spirit to create a spiritual piece. It is too deep to analyze, too classy to classify. The highness of coolness. Essentially spiritual. Asake is possessed by the ancestors.
This is a highly spiritual song. The classic combination of multiple cultures deeply connects with everyone watching this video. Asake is the Bob Marley of our time. 🇬🇭
This is about the African diaspora and our various cultures. It has nothing to do with all the other non-African human populations. Contrary to popular belief, yoga is an African innovation that Indians get credit for. Bob Marley was Jamaican. This song is not about Jamaican culture.
Asake used to teach my little brothers cultural dances and music and this is exactly how it looked and sounded. Glad to see he’s infusing his origin into his music
I am swedish and even I connect deeply to this song, I can’t stop listening! Spiritual and beautiful and I don’t understand a word. Love love love. Mama Africa you are beautiful 🤲🏼♥️
Let's stop the debate and just enjoy this beautiful piece of music. This song and video show how brilliant and deep Asake's knowledge and appreciation for the art is. I have learned right here some valuable lessons about some unique African cultures without traveling to these parts. The song is a sample of Michel Legris' 'Mo Capitaine' performed by Jason Heerah (it's in Asake's description as well).... so the song is definitely 'sega', like our Mauritian brothers and sisters have said. It also has elements of goumbe as our Senegalese brothers have said...which shows Asake has sought to mix the two, probably seeing the similarity between the two. He also chose to use the Senegalese culture in the video to pay homage to the lebu community. The fact that both genres of music from 2 different countries are similar (I might even add that there are similarities to Nigeria's apala music/beat) kinda suggests Africa was ONE before we were separated by borders and it's why our cultures are similar? This is interesting if you think about it. Thank you Asake
This song reminds me so much of Haitian Vodou, it doesn't matter where you are if you have your African ancestry you will feel the weight and cultural energy in this song. Ayibobo pu tut zanset nou yo🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹
That's the first thing that came to my mind. The gesticulation, the spiritual moves, the theme, the language. Everything points to Haitian voodoo. TG Omori is just a crazy human being. 😁
Much love to the Haitians for keeping this spirit alive. Growing up in Africa all I said is the exact people doing carnivals in these costumes and as artist this is just so beautiful to see this in New Orleans, Haiti, Caribbean, Trinidad and all over the world we returning to source.
Asake is here to shake up the charts again. Man this song is good to sit down and go through things over and over again before making important decisions. Good music here y'all...
Asake’s Creativity is off the roof.. infusing three cultures in one song .. the intro from a great Mauritius 🇲🇺 legend Michell legris..costume and dance from the lebbu culture Senegal 🇸🇳 and the Nigerian Pidgin/ Yoruba lyrics..🇲🇺🇸🇳🇳🇬👑👑..
This song just makes every African remember their roots and connect with the ancestors...much love from Zambia 🇿🇲...thank you for making us get in touch spiritually with our roots
I'm very proud to hear as intro the ties of the African culture of my country which is Mauritius. The descendants of the African who walked this ground left us with the sega music and "‘Mo Capitain’ by the late great Michel Legris is one of treasure trove which we have here on the island... Thanks a lot for that...🙏🙏🙏
I thought it was just me. This song is deep. Someone just said the original was done by a late Mauritius singer. I think the spirit of Mother Africa is drawing us into our innerself to feel and enjoy peace and love and this is what this song is portraying.
When I first heard the drums it sounded like moutya from my country, Seychelles, and the Creole in the background in the beginning made me confused as I don't hear this in any song overseas, haha! ASAKE you have somehow been able to blend so many of our cultures from Africa and represent all of us. So much unity in this song. Beautiful :) and thank you!
This song is such a master piece, as much as the music video is a pure work of art, it hits different for me too being a huge Asake fan and it being filmed in my country🇸🇳❤️
So it’s alright for this so called artist to rip off a song originally from a Deceased Legendary Mauritian artist.. That’s nonsense, have some pride ✊🏾
Asake ❤, tks u so much 💯❤️ and R.I.P Mr Michel Legris 🙏 ✊🏾 I love all song of Africa ,but this song ,touch my heard ❤ because i was born in Maurituis 🇲🇺😢😢😢but Know i leave in France....
From Côte d'Ivoire with Faith & Love 🇨🇮 🇨🇮
That sega mix is also known as seli in egba... my dad's friends used to play it when we was younger. You could say anything to seli and it will fit... Africa is blessed with rich culture!
Who wished the song was a bit more longer... When you are trying to enter the full connect... E comes to end... Beautiful musical arrangement... With a rich befitting video... A Masterpiece!!!.... I STAN!!!
The music style is called Sega: Origins. Sega music originated among the slave populations of Mauritius 🇲🇺 and Réunion 🇷🇪 and later spread throughout the Seychelles 🇸🇨 . It is usually in 6/8 meter and has an associated dance form. Sega's exact origins outside the islands are unknown. Beautiful Track! Sample: (Michell Legris - Mo Capitaine) - Mauritius 🇲🇺 Costume and Dance: Lebbu Culture - Senegal 🇸🇳 Lyrics: Yoruba/Pidgin - Nigeria 🇳🇬
This then shows a possible connection between the Creoles in Mauritius and the Yoruba.. music connects.. tracing roots through a beat.. may be one of the purposes of this song.. especially with the sample Mauritian Sega track in the intro.. this is deep.
