@@asylumadvocacy something also needs to be done about processing time for all immigration cases. It is ridiculous, for a country that has the power to start wars, yet can’t keep up with issues concerning immigration.

Thank you for your question and for being part of ASAP’s community! Becoming a U.S. citizen can be a long process and getting a work permit is just part of what may be many steps on the way. For someone who gets a work permit based on applying for asylum, they would first need to win their asylum case, then apply to become a Permanent Resident, and then 5 years after that they could apply to become a U.S. citizen.
