@@YasminYoruba I actually just watched a video yesterday about her. Her music downfall had nothing to do with anyone taking her spotlight. She actually would have had a lot more offers and promotions, but companies backed off because she was associated with Murder Inc during their investigation. Also, her producer always turned down offers on her behalf and she would know nothing about them. She finally, when her contract was up, didn't resign with Murder Inc and went and created her own label and did her own thing after doing acting and Broadway for awhile
She writes her own songs and started her own label so let's not compare her to artist who don't have the same credentials. No shade but she's been here...

She left Murda Inc. It all started in 07. Irv, didn't want to help her record her album. Which kind of ticked Nelly off, because he was the one to help Ashanti not her own record label. It all goes back to Ashanti spending so much time with Nelly. Which is understandable since they were together. Irv didn't like that, he thought Ashanti was being disloyal. So Ashanti wanted to be released in 2008. Irv didn't do that until 2009.

i think Ashanti underrates herself.. she plays it safe and doesn't launch herself or career all the way.. she should take the risk (financial or whatever) and just go for it.. big show production, international tour, everything big.. just like Beyo.nce, JLo, Akeys etc .
