Asher is a Rock! This pup has been through a lot and is still the happiest dog on the homestead. We picked him up at the pound in 2019, the same year we purchased our land. He came from an abusive family and was very timid. It took him some time to really warm up to everyone but since then he's quite the lover.
Unfortunately not long after he was brought to the farm he was chasing a critter and was hit by a car, severely damaging his right back leg. We tried to save it but couldn't stop the infection and decided to have it amputated. He bounced back very quickly.
About a year later we noticed his right eye was cloudy. Our vet did what he could but again, we couldn't stop the inevitable and he lost his eye. But he's an amazing pup and still gets around like nothing happened. He chases everything he sees but avoids the road, he won't even get close to it. We're assuming he ran into a thorn, puncturing the eye and causing the infection.
Life on a farm is tough. Animals come and go but we're glad this guys stuck around.
Thank you for watching: Asher Update
Background: We are building a house offgrid utilizing an off grid solar power system and rain water harvesting system to supply our home. Living off the grid is new to us as it is to many others. We hope our build will help inspire others to build a home off the grid too.

Poor baby, best of luck. My pup got an intestinal blockage a while back that required surgery. It was a huge bill, but the cost really didn't matter to me.

I had a dog back in college that had the same thing, twice. The first vet botched the fix which was to stitch the stomach to the ribcage. It was expensive back then too. I can't imagine what it would be these days. But we love our fur babies.
