Hey, scavvers! If you would like to join a Discord server that's all about all things Ashes, then just follow the link below! The link SHOULD be permanent, hopefully: discord.gg/MgMvJ2Gekp
Those eyes in the elevator are much creepier with lower brightness. If elevator shaft is much darker it seems like unknown dark entity fills it entirely and does not look like just two bright spheres. Also: Monster count: have significally lower number than usual Me: *oh no*
Due to the nature of both Ashes and Scav, I don't play like a completionist in any mark except for secrets. That means I don't fight enemies I don't have to, or at least don't go out of my way to hunt them down. This goes double for Haunts. With very, _very_ few exceptions, since the time I played Ashes 2063 blind, I do _not_ mess with Haunts. Not because they're dangerous (they're really not, they're like Hexen's Dark Bishop that decided to fight like a Cacodemon), but because they disturb me on a VISCERAL level. Their visuals are on point and the sound design freezes my spine and shatters it with a flick of the finger. Literally no other video game enemy, or fictional creature as a whole, unsettles me like Haunts do. When I re-enter the Spire basement here, I explore, find the rifle, retrieve the encrypted disc, and zip out fast. Standing my ground is out of the question.
Everything in this game is next level aye. How was your first experience with trash hags? I really wasn't ready for it haha. Besides the suspense of collecting all this ammo in a maze of nothing.. yeah it still got me good I can't get enough of this game.
When i first encountered a haunt I remember hearing about these things from an old guy NPC in the game also read comments in Reddit about being in a place and getting the hell out of there. Anyways I did the same thing legged it out of the first encounter in Ashes 2063.. realised I had to go back and flip a switch. Ran out of ammo on the first one then had to face one in a blacked out creepy as hell train cart (they followed me the mongrels 😂) with a crowbar up close and personal... Was intense I must say.
The whole game hits totally different with the "dark" lighting mode selected. The atmosphere amps up to a game you would expect to spend $30+ for. Highly recommend instead of Doom 2 fullbright like this.
No kidding. In Dark sector light mode, the murk is encompassing and great for atmosphere. You better have a good light source... I especially recommend mod fanatics pick up DarkDoomZ and fiddle around with its pre-gain and post-gain settings for even nicer results. Though that's mainly for 2063; Afterglow has much more well-realized lighting.
He said in the first episode that he didnt want people on RU-vid to have trouble seeing thats going on, not to mention a mod he is using makes all liquid textures glow
So very scary. One sign says that Project WhiteWatch at the Spire was expected to remain active through 2050, althouth it has now been inactive for at least 13 years. Very scary! And the strange phenomena that occured in 2060 that wiped out the message senders... and Anomaly 210... what happened here? This place gives us the creeps if you ask me. :o
It's actually connected to 2063. Someone came by, accessed the Spire, probably copied then wiped as much data as they could, then left. Also we later find out the old world was blasted to Ashes (heh) in 1989. The project sure didn't go as intended.
Inspired by an old movie poster I wanted creepy shadow hands to emerge from the walls as the player would be running out of basement. Not sure if they should be lethal on the touch or end the game if the player would get caught as I did not want to annoy players with cheap deaths but I really wanted to startle them.
@@TheDutchGhost I'm glad those weren't added. Many times, less is more, and minimalism did Afterglow's spooky sections a ton of good. I'm not against the idea of ghost arms but they'd work better as part of a wider level, on a "hotter" spot of background despair, or just on their own.
Dude, I think your channel is haunted. :/ Nice run though. I don't know why that particular ghost decides to go down into the elevator shaft, he is tagged to spawn on one of the ledges.
LOL, those mystrruous comments from channels that kinda share my name? Perfect type of video-game for them tho show up on :P And yeah, that Haunt took me a bit of time to find the first couple playthroughs. Could have sworn I was just running last one of them lol
Not sure if it's considered a "Secret Level" in the traditional sense, but it's secret enough for me! Especially once you see what all going here can help you do in the future.
@@ivanromanchenko459 If you mean the PC in the map, you have go through the entire dialogue tree to get the thumb drive needed to get to the secret level. You will also need the map to its location, but that's on a PC in a later level.
Haunts are the second scariest ghostly non-ghost monsters I've ever faced. Their looks coupled with their sound design puts my hairs on end to this day, and I've been on the Ashes train ride for a good 2 years now. Even as Doomguy with a BFG, I hate fighting Haunts in the Monsters pack.
The standard Haunts are scary I agree, but the Red Haunts are more scarier than normal ones (I mean a ghost who emit static sounds of pre war stuff, that's fuckin metal dude!!)
