Thank you everyone for tuning in! As always, this is still a work in progress towards our Alpha II starting in October. Lighting is in the middle of a significant revamp, so some areas may be too dark and VFX overexposed, we are working on that and will have more updates next month. Leave us your thoughts on what you enjoyed about the Bard Archetype for Alpha II. What would you change? We do these updates to hear your thoughts! Excited to see you all in A2 soon enough! Much Love
It's a shame you stream on Twitch, it made the audio sound full of static at the low bit rate... the audio of course still needs work but Twitch made it sound 10 times worse than it actually is, here it sounds much better
I have always loved the idea of Grimoires. Something common in fantasy is that in times of distress, the grimoire turns to a new page and casts a heroic new spell to save the day. I would love to see this fantasy if I was a grimoire user. Not sure how it could be implemented in a video game, but if possible, it could be interesting. Just an idea.
That was a very entertaining video, especially with all the side pulls at the end, and still everyone was laughing and having fun with it - made me smile :) Bard looks really fun and so does the game so far, good job! (Hopefully there will be an option to jump in even for late comers that didn't get an alpha key yet)
@@unphazd5137 It sounds much better because they used the audio from Stevens recording instead of trad's. His recording didn't have the insane audio issues so that's why it sounds so much better
I don't think you realize just how much I love Bards. I can't thank you all enough for the hard work you've done. I love everything about them. Versatility, jack of all trades, silver tongue, musical prowess, I could go on.
As a milenial that used to make Lineage 2 videos maining a swordsinger elf hearing the bard draws inspiration from said archetype made me wallow in nostalgia, thank you Bucky.
@@Jinta-a NE bladedance animation was so gooood My Saggi had 2nd spec SS, which made songs the must dumblooking dance ever. Somewhat hilarious, but deffo not satisfying.
Watched the video on twitch, the Bard is everything i was hoping for and more. Plenty of times I've seen a Bard archetype in other MMO's and its never close to what I'm looking for. The kit is perfect, cannot wait to see the final product combined with class augments. Those animations are perfection btw.
As a historically healer class in MMOs I'm glad to hear that they are keeping a distinction between the lesser healing classes and the primary healing class. Following this for years now I've always been interested in just how they're going to balance eight different archetypes and 64 different classes. Though it's not my class I do appreciate and love the depth of thought put into the Bard!!
Wild to check this game out every few months, its looking better and better.. The UI still needs work for sure, but outside of the small things. Looking good!
the whole UI will be fully customizable. even if you dont like the base UI you will be able to change everything, from the hotbars to the damage numbers, and also the nameplates.
Hoping you guys can help out some of the newly laid-off talent from Bungie this week. Thanks for being a great pro-consumer AA studio and giving me some hope for the industry at the moment!
As long as they seem passionate about the project, people shouldnt get a job just cause people feel bad. Thats how you end up so inflated with unnecessary hires in the first place.
the amount of customizability in this game is gonna be insane. everything about your character just feels so personalized. races, the specific dimensions and features of the actual character made in the cc, your first weapon, your second weapon, your first class, your second class, your playstyle and what skills you spec into, your profession, your secondary profession, where you live, your guild, etc. Say you have two people make a basic human warrior character. one could be a tall darker skinned warrior that dual wields swords and uses a pet with the summoner secondary, specced into a full lifesteal build, an animal breeder and cook. while the other one is a short lighter skinned warrior with a scar and tattoos that uses a knife and a mace, specced into rogue secondary poison stealth build, and is a shipwright and weaponsmith. those are both a human warrior but they sound like two completely different types of characters . just makes it feel like your character is unique and gives it a real identity and i love it. it also means the game will age extremely slowly because the replayability will be through the roof. usually its like "ok ive tried everything in the warrior class, ill make a hunter alt so i can try something new. but in ashes, there would be so many different warrior combinations and playstyles you could try before you got bored enough to try a new class some feedback thoughts: - pls keep the sitting for mana i know people dont like it but i think itll be good. I think that it adds a nice little 30 sec to a minute where the group can talk about the fight, strategize, maybe crack some jokes like you guys did and if you were streaming maybe look at chat or something before the next pull. it feels like that old school mmo/d&d comradery that you guys want to bring back instead of just speedrunning mobs and silence. its also realistic because if you were really an adventurer who just finished a battle with your party youd go rest somewhere to recover before continuing. -i think you all do a very good job of making us want to play every class. im not usually like that in other games at all but every showcase im thinking ooh i really want to play that maybe ill be a [insert class ] instead. -everything's been getting better month to month you can see the improvement in little areas here and there -the effects and animation still need some tweaks but all look very much improved. if it were me i would use less saturated colors for the abilities i think they look the nicest with the realistic graphics aoc is going for. -some of the lighting spells maybe could be a softer or less saturated blue similar to the mage shield, the purple auto attacks from the spell book could more like the purple from the maddening dance, and the green spread arrows for the hunter could be more like the softer green from its other abilities. - i like the change to the moving lighting ball where you can't really see the hard outline of the circle anymore and its just kind of an rippled space aura looks much better. i understand that you want people to be able to visually identify what things are tho so some of these make sense staying as is. the spells that are looking the best to me are the bard and clerics spells. that being said, you could not change a single thing from how it looks right now and the game would hundred percent meet my visual fidelity expectations as a consumer
I can already hear the endless forum threads complaining about x, y, z talent, weapon, class, secondary, etc. is over/under powered. The players will find a way to min-max the fun out of this.
Anthem of Alacrity was my favourite showcase. Would love to see a class combo built around time, like a chronomancer/time mage. The sounds across the board were fantastic. I got Legend of Zelda vibes from some of them!
hey guys from Australia its me your biggest fan... I am 12 mins in and very happy and excited you guys are talking about Accuracy of spells a classic element that can be good if done right. like for pvp or fighting skull bosses etc.... 'mI also really happy to hear the Bard has a passive song, strategically that makes them a target in pvp and we will know if we stand next to one we might get heals, so people might target them in tight pvp battles to turn the tide of fight.... its just another small but important thing that shows how much care is being taken for proper gameplay mechanics that breeds strategies and gameplay ideas. 10/10 guys hope yas doing well really loving the bard so far :)
Finally, after years of patient waiting, the bard is here. And I gotta say, this class looks really fun to play! from spell/class/sound desing to the armor that is shown, I love it. Well done, looking forward to Alpha2!
Fake dwarf. No real dwarf would ever shave his beard. A head yes, turn it into a mohawk and paint it bright red then seek death for his transgressions. But his beard would always stay intact.
Unpopular opinion here but I think some abilities look too mage-like. Understand this is maybe just my opinion again but expected instruments being more present and generally a more rogue-ish bard maybe? Don't get me wrong, loved the dance animations and the tome looks sick, is just that honestly it feels off-putting to see a bard shooting purple magic with a book as a whole. This should be a game design decision but yeah, was expecting a more trickster-style bard fantasy. Keep it up with the nice work though, very excited for the game.
It's not unpopular at all, a lot of Bard players think the same and its not a bad decision but the more variety they can bring the better, right? The way it is right now looks like a Buff Mage that can hit some moves in the dance floor. I would def play it but I think they can (and will) improve it. About the book, they said that this is only a weapon and almost all weapons will be of usage of any class. I hope they adress that trickster aspect, that mind controler aspect, even if with the multiclass. I imagine the blink (Flourish) to leave ilusions behind when u multi class with Rogue or Mage, for example. They could solve a lot by that, they could determinate a lot of the aspects of the games, I mean, the multiclasses have names of their own that implies that this will happen at some point. I have a lot of hope for this game.
yea having the book for the bard was maybe not the best option to avoid this possibility of looking too much like a mage however they wanted to show off the book at the same time and im sure with a melee weapon or even a bow, the bard will look a lot different
The fact that you've made the abilities fit in with the music is simply wonderful. It's attention to detail that makes something a real joy to experience. Keep it up and, at least to me, you'll be in the company of experiences like Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal and Lord of the Rings ❤
Gives this old mmorpg player ( I started everquest in 1998) hope for the future. The Bard looks amazing and I can't wait to try it out. Thanks you for giving us hope again for the genre :)
I'm currently saving up money for a God Tier Gaming PC with a 4k monitor just so i can play Ashes at its absolute best. With the best graphics and best performance. I have 3 months lets gooo. I'm very excited for the immersion as well. I've been an MMORPG gamer my entire life so this is my time to shine
As a guy who always plays bards in an MMO, thank you for making them an option. They are too rare to see. Just some feedback from a bard enjoyer: 1. I'm not huge on the 'dances', they feel modern and out of place in a high fantasy setting. This is not helped by the icons looking straight out of dance dance revolution. I know it's WIP, that's why I'm giving feedback. I feel like people dance to a Bard, not the other way around. Dances would fit in very well with any combat-specific abilities, sort of like a Bladedancer vibe? So instead of "Maddening Dance" you'd have "Maddening Tune" and the dances would more be down the line of flurrying attacks or evasion. 2. I also wish we had more of a modular approach where you could 'write' your own songs with an itemized component system like they did in Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, with itemized Choruses, Verses, and Solos for instance - so you can end up mixing and matching those to customize the outcomes of your songs. It is not too late to add something like this for late game bards. Otherwise Bards tend to turn into any other class but just 'music' themed. 3. Down that line, I do *_love_* the weaving; it was "unintended" in Everquest, but turned into... well, you guys still talking about it in 2024. I'd definitely go down that line more! Being able to weave songs basically solves point 2, but if there are only three melodies to weave it will quickly turn into tedium. I think almost all bard abilities should be tied to this system. Edit: Sagas solve point 2, you guys are the greatest. I also mained Invoker in Dota, I love you. But I would definitely aim for at least 10 combinations of Sagas, are you planning on adding more than 3?
Also they could add so much more man. I play bard in dnd for 12 + years. I played all mmo that have bards with bard class. Always in MMo bard became a full supp class and they forget the origins, bard are mental manipulators, for ex... there r tons of spells they could get ideias from, just to name a simple few from DND : Crown of Madness, Hypnotic Pattern, Cause Fear, Dispell, Glyph of Warding, Slow, Charm, Charm Monster, Command, Control, Compulsion, Confusion, Silence .... There's none of that into that bard, thats a waste.
I’m guessing we won’t really get this until after alpha 2, but I really can’t wait for the specific themes for the subclassing, especially the summoner subclasses.
Counterpoint sounds like a fantastic way to raise the skill ceiling rewards dedicated bard mains and timing. I would love to see you all expand on counterpoint in different directions. Currently, I think 20 seconds is too long and would love to see a more active playstyle dealing with shorter times while weaving abilities. Or maybe a deeper specialization of counterpoint to actively weave melodies into something akin to combos. Class archetype previews have been getting better with every release. CANNOT wait for the summoner preview and eventually all the different caster secondary archetypes ;) I also appreciate the tactical choice that abilities (flourish) with multiple uses provide; to either burst all at once or spaced apart.
I know they only showed it with 2 but it seemed like you could probably let it run for 4 seconds then swap and have several of the buffs running at once if you're willing to dedicate the globals to it. Also a little unclear how many melodies you'll have at any given time.
00:42:00 The hovering spellbook blinking into and out of sight during melee: I hope eventually it will just move off to the side or above (or a quick desummon/resummon animation) while swinging/striking, because the abrupt way it is there and then gone and then back, it just looks like a graphic glitch in the Matrix for now. 😅
The fact I’ve been subscribed since the beginning of you creating and employing the people who work here is nice to witness. So sad that this game will not be on console. But it’s still beautiful to watch the creation
Fantastic stream! The hard work is really showing now. The crisp details of all the characters, the animations are looking sick! The bard is showing up all the other classes. Now time to go back to the other classes and use what you've learned from designing the bard and improve the other classes. Cant wait to play Alpha 2 in October! Great job Intrepid! Its truly special to be a part of this development!
While I think its really great and cool the Bard has a lot of this 'Dancing' and these 'Precussion-based' sounds.... But I don't think there is enough Flute-based (or guitar) spell-sounds. I feel like the Moon effect ability is the only spell I heard that has a typical fantasy flute-music spell-sound. ** If I am just blatently wrong about this (because I havnt gone through all the abilities myself), then plz disregard this whole thing! What I saw was great variation here, and creative ideas of making this Bard unique from previous older renditions. Its cool, the movement, dances and other animations are excellent. It's all been implemented in a way to be fun but still looks good. I really like the idea of the melody following the hym of as if it were singing. That is really cool. In summary: Please put in a handful (2 to 5) of the Bard's spells to have a more high fantasy music/sounds that uses real flutes/guitar? * The Ashes Theme music you guys play in the background of the stream on repeat is a good example of what im asking for to be the music that could play when the Bard uses a spell like a buff or speed boost. But all things considered this is a knit-pick and a minor imporovemenet really. You guys have done an amazing job on the Bard and I really want to play one when its not my usual thing. How crazy is that flame attack?! :)
You can pick your instrument at the start , they are cosmetic only for now also the music n stuff got some that are placeholders or just not in yet and this is like half the class abilites not all of them as every class will have 35_40 skills
Personally, I really like the bard and their skills, but I don't like the magic book. It is visually distracting, and for a class that has to run a lot, I think it becomes a handicap over time. I would have preferred a flute to cast the skills.
I wish the book was only visible while casting or much smaller and out of the way when idle. When you look at your character from the front, it consumes a lot of visual real estate that players might want for their armor looks.
@@DoingFavors the way the book is right now looks like its always in ready to go mode, for comparisson, if u had a Spear u would rest it when u are not in battle, U would not always carry like its ready to kill someone, u would get tired. Its not a major thing but the book does take a lot of the frontal perspective (and polutes more than anything). Imagine 3000 ppl in a city with a lot of those bookfs floating with no reason. They should be in the bag, in ur back or something, Also, why d hell the book is so big? lol. To be fair they adressed the book and said they are working on it and he will probably disapear when not in use.
I do so wish they would add out of combat utils like "perform" for bards or "bonfire" for rangers that adds additional passive HP or Mana regen as you sit around. Would definitely make it more immersive!
If you want to see a *really* well done bard look at how Project Gorgon does it. It's *amazing*. The first time I started playing music during a boss fight and the music synced up I was like OOOOOOOOOOOH and now bard is my main. Really, check it out. Brilliantly done.
They could also look at DnD (there's even baldurs gate 3 for them to get ideias easily)... I look at this bard and see that is really crude yet (and maybe the person who made it never played a real RPG). Bards in MMO usually are just HP/mP/Buff bots in dual accounts. This probably will have the same fate if they dont implement waaaay more things. There's a huge ton of spells in DnD they could simulate... Crown of Madness, Hypnotic Pattern, Cause Fear, Dispell, Glyph of Warding, Slow, Charm, Charm Monster, Command, Control, Compulsion, Confusion, Silence... just no name a few that I posted on forums...
Wow, I love how the drum beat of the dances match the animation of the Bard! That is so immersive!! I’ve never seen that in any game like this. I also like how the party can rest between encounters. Almost feels like your doing a D&D/Pathfinder session, cause that is exactly what we would do.
I can't believe you made Bards look like a cool and fun and most importantly, VIABLE class! As someone who would never play a bard in other games, this one is really tempting. I love the pulsing buff auras too. It looks so good! You guys have made a lot of progress over the last couple years. I'd love to hear more about how every class can use every weapon type/armor and why you may choose to decide which weapons/armor types you want to run for your given class and why. F
Ill give a bigger review on the forums but man that outfit is so fucking cool. Pretty sure ill have to main or second a bard now... and get this dope harlequin outfit. Also as someone who critiqued being forced down a path i really appreciate the new skilltree systhem with the tiers and you need x skills in the tier below to unlock the biggest tier etc. I think it will be better this way because now you can rly make your own build with the skills thhat you want to play around etc. I feel like this was a very good descicion and the new systhem you cane up with now makes alot of sense and sounds good to me
Love this! I will be forever a ranger main, but I am convinced that the bard will be my secondary character. You did an amazing job, IPS! Thank you for your dedication, love and effort!
Not bard related But I would love some more hard cc, like uppercut stuns or spears (seeing mobs flying), or pulls, or at the very least be dropped with a hammer blow. Or fear (having them run). At the moment it's fairly static, mobs run at you and remain on you unless you sleep them, which is my least favourite cc.
Bards literally are the class in RPGS that have more acess to CC. This bard dont have any CC aside from sleep + stun combo. The Violin should knock ppl back (like blade flourish Sword Bards in d&d 5e). Should have facinate, charm, petrify, confusion, other mind control spells... this AOC bard is really crude yet, Hope they improve that spell variety. That movspeed is a waste of spell for example. The Tomato trhow is the bullseye, this seems versatil, since have an effect on u or enemy, depending of the target, and looks a lot like something a Bard would do. They surely can do it. Btw the tomato is a lot like Viciou Mockery from DnD, they should look at the bard spell list and do some more of that... i mean, there's literally tons of spells, Crown of Madness, Hypnotic Pattern, Cause Fear, Dispell, Glyph of Warding, Slow, Charm, Charm Monster, Command, Control, Compulsion, Confusion, Silence ... just o name a few that I posted on the forums.
the melodies not disrupting the atmosphere of gameplay is interesting. I like how there's been repeated examples of attention to detail and I really really hope this stuff doesn't get "optimized" out on release. This is the stuff that makes the game special in a sea of endless MMOs.
Intrepid has really outdone themselves with the bard! I don't like bards personally and have never thought about ever playing one(in any MMO), but in this showcase it makes bards look SOOOO much fun and skillful to play! I love the no macros too so when you run into a good ass bard, you know hes good and not just using macros!
I really love how AoC is always updating it's player base with indepth and fun to watch videos, much more than most other developers, also WHENS THE SUMMONER CLASS SHOWCASEEEE
I'm not the usual target audience for a bard but ... this one does look amazing, and I can see why it will synergise with classes like enchanter or magician. I enjoy illusionist or enchanter type mages in addition to the usual death and destruction evokers, so I'll be trying it out. Saw some comments that the dragon head could do with some work and I'd agree there, but love what I am seeing so far. Can't wait for your summoner preview!
Never thought I would like a Bard like playstyle, but this looks very interesting. Some feedbacks: When the dance that gives the shield at time 29:47- 30.00 the character is sliding over the ground backwards, would be good to fix that so the gameplay dont get to "floaty" and the player gets connected to the ground a bit more.
I have been following this game loosely since the kick starter, seen it's highs, lows, and highs again. I myself was not into it that much, but each class preview kept breaking down my pvp wall. After this class preview I am full on hyped now.
I think a cool addition to the Bard that has been done in other games would be adding a way to Provoke PvE targets to attack each other. Maybe have it affect a maximum of 2 targets that you choose for a specified duration.
I like the Get off the stage and how you can attack with your flute. With the knock back on (off the stage) can you make it where you make your opponent roll and tumble backwards. Can you also add a passive skill that makes your weapon sound like your choice of musical instrument. Let's say your musical instrument is a drum and your weapon is a sword. Then your sword can sound like you are playing a drum every time you land an attack on your opponent. The type of musical instrument could even influence the way the player attack like a drummer might use their weapon like a drumstick and move it to the beat. You know if you have musical instruments that fired musical attacks that are musical notes travel to the speed of the music. You could have some notes that spins and attack your opponent while others just float around and protect or auto attack your opponent. Then you can have a battle of the bands. The Bard need some skills that allows them to do skills with their mouths like sonic scream or breathing fire because I feel that with a magical voice that the bard has it could be possible. I would love to see how you will combine melee or range attacks with the dance moves. I know some native American dances was meant to train their people and help them to learn muscle memory to fight. Then all they have to do is trade out their ceremonial stuff for real weapon and armor. I would love to see Bards unlocking chest or secret places that is only unlocked because of the right song is being played. You know how bull fighters dodge the bull with their capes. You could make a skill call Oley that allows someone with a shield to dodge like a bullfighter with their shield acting like the red cape then you can combo with an attack with your weapon. I feel like the spell book needs another skill where you can put up a defense shield up.
Looks amazing. Really wish you would release a more condensed version of these dev-update/showcase videos as well. Like 10-15min tops. I usually don't bother to watch 2 hour videos on youtube, so having a short summary from you guys would be amazing! If not I find my self waiting for LazyPeon, ForceGaming or some other content creator to create a recap video of all the latest dev-updates you've made
I grinded wow all the way through MoP and have been desperately looking for a new/good MMO and I hope this is it. It looks so good and I hope the team really puts their hearts into it!
U guys are going into the right path but I would like to adress some concerns about this class. Since i'm a main bard in all MMO I play and for 12yrs in D&D I just want to give some insights. As I feel that a lot of players talked only about the good stuff, please consider this : 1- BARDS NEED CHARM SKILLS AND MENTAL MANIPULATION SKILLS. I Saw there's a 'Marionette' skill on wiki, hope that's something charm related. 2- Bards are great with out of combat skils, this improve roleplay and ambience. 3- This bard doesnt look versatil. Bards need versatility, the way this is build up it's mostly a support hp/mp bot class with main focus on Magic Damage/healing damage. 4- Bards need more double face skills. Do more skills like the Tomato Throw / wit. Those are really interesting and seems more bardish (tomato looks like vicious mockery). More double (group or enemy) spells will also improve the versatility and could save some skills, that movspeed skill is near useless the way its designed right now, make it double faced, movspd buff for allies and slow debuff for enemies. The dodge on it its Dancer version is not enough to make it valuable to spend skill points on it. 5- The violin hit is another cool bardish skill that u made, it should knock enemy down and also kock back 'em further away (so it become a protective skill for Bards to have, that will help a lot in dangerous situations). It would be an awesome joke to throw ppl off cliffs and off the ship with this and also would give more versatility to melee. It would be similar to a flourish from Sword Of Valor Bards in d&d 5e. They said they prob gonna change in the Stream, which is a good thing. 6- The Tarot like skill could add random buffs or debuffs and also be a double face skill. It would be cool to use on enemies and, if lucky, get their HP and pass ur low HP to 'em, also give'em random debuff or buff depending if luck or not. The way GAMBIT works now will be more of a turndown on Bards joining ur group. Ppl will troll. Ppl will be fearfull of trolling bards... I mean, U just gave an ability that can either save or kill ur entire party. lol. This need more thinking, i'm not saying to take this off, its REALLY interesting, I mean, Its amazing! Probably the 3 best spells along with Wits and the Get Off the Stage, but I dont think u guys're lookin at the whole picture for this one. Could become a nightmare, could be the most funniest skill on game. Does sound like a gambit to me, lol. 7- Looks like this Bard needs way more combos, the only one u can do by urself is incapacitated+stun, the others are more leaning towards better healing, there's the staggering + disarm. Someone remembers more? This will make things hard for solo time probably. 8- This bard need way more debuffs (or tune up the ones that exist). Need it more conditions either, there's Snare and Incapacitated, whats more? The minor conditions (staggered, chill, etc) will be enough? Where's the confusion, charm, petrify, fascinated, etc? ... Tasha's Hideous Laughter... Crown of Madness, hello?! Dispell??? Hypnotic Pattern??? I Mean.. There's so many that u guys can add to it. I really trust u can do it! Maybe u have done it already but still working on it! 9- Unfortunately Bards in MMO are usually supp healers bots and thats really not enjoayble at all. This one looks like it will be more of the same, the offensive skills are not that good, the debuffs are not near good (should have more) in comparison to the Buffs, this make room for not compesating creating another build instead of full supp. There's not enough reason for ppl to accept a CC bard over full supp Bard, since this bard doesnt have all that much of CC on him. This is not close to the ideia of a real bard, should be a swiss switchblade, master of none, can do lil of anything and never mastering things like a full single class (magic for mages, phys dam for melees, etc... the bard should do it all but not maximized). 10- After watch this twice I'm still concerned about the single player Bard. I mean, he will only thrive as a group, that is tot fine but he should be able to handle himself better in ways to Up/farm/questing/exploring alone. None of the buffs seem to be able to apply on self, other than the movspeed dance I didnt see the changes on the bard itself, only skill he self used was the single target healing Lovely Serenade. I hope Intrepid adress that trickster aspect, that mind controler aspect, even if with the multiclass. I also would play this game without multiclass and wait to be implemented in late patches. This is a thing Intrepid should consider. Dont get me wrong. There's a lot of positives but I feel that the other ppl already jumped into that, great animations, great interactions, Sagas are amazing and etc. I just wanted to adress some things. I Feel some of this concerns that I have other ppl had too and should be adressed to improve the class. Thanks for everything. Can't wait to play this game. Cheers from Brasil (please remember us here in south america ♥).
Beautiful animations and strong creativity in this class! That must have been a nightmare to code and test. Regardless, this is the first time in several years that I've ever been hyped for an MMO
The game looks incredible, but I notice one thing and thats how characters move. As a WoW player, I've grown addicted to how smooth the walking / running and camera movement feels. I hope you implement as good as that or even better, because then I would play the heck out of this game!
For the fun factor and uniqueness alone, I played Discipline Priest the most during WoW in Battlegrounds. Coming from that I can see having fun with a Bard in a similar way. The strafe mechanic with the dance Flourish will open up a unique playstyle. I can easily imagine maining a Bard after watching the preview. For now I'm feeling a Disc Priest and GW2 Elementalist roamer type of playstyle going on.
The game looks good and fun, and the visual effects are nice too, but the animations still look a little clunky and stiff, and the transition between the animations need some work too. But great work nonetheless. I'm excited to play it.
I can see how this type of character could have some more opportunity to see the wider picture in a raid. Seems like they could impact the flow of the team by plussing up on mana and heals in preparation for the next push.
no way they mentioned it? Can you give me the time stamp? thats insane because thats the first thought i had when i saw the thumbnail of this video. My thought was - i wonder if its like Blade Dancer or Sword Singer
I love Bards. The best iteration of that class for me was in Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. Bards were not just mana batteries or buff bots. They were able to buff and fight. My favorite aspect was song composition. This allowed Bards to mix various kinds of buffs. So this all sounds very promising.
This gets so off tap 1:38:00 the graphics in those dark dungeons is looking so amazing, legendary. This will be, and already is, the greatest game ever. Thanks guys for this awesome stream and for the effort on the game. 🤟
Loved hearing about the sound design, a super underappreciated aspect of the development, and the bard effects sound amazing! The People Want More Tory!
I love that they use the book for the spells to expel from. I've ALWAYS questioned why world of warcrafts mages, locks, etc have the staffs just sit on thier backs. Rather than the spells come OUT of thier staffs like the warlock on the wow classic animation when that undead was using the staff. Idk. But AMAZING that someone has a creative mind.
Based on what we have seen of the other classes so far, Bard is going to be one the strongest classes in Ashes. For both solo and group content. Life steal+heal over time is going to be insanely good for grinding mobs.
Yeah, 25% to lifesteal 50% damage dealt will be nerfed into the dirt, especially with warrior spins and multihit attacks for PVP. I saw that and immediately know how that plays out.
Love the maneuverability of the bard, I see a lot of flexibility with the bard and seems like a very fun class to play. Also love that the staff animation changes to holding it against the ground when not moving. Very strong Gandalf vibes and I can't wait to play! I think the mana regen song needs to be a little stronger to help keep up with these longer fights. With how often every one was going OOM even with the song active it doesn't seem like it is worth it to switch to that song compared to keeping the extra healing on
Looking forward to the popup book animation for the saga spell. I think that would be much cooler than the current dragon breath and play into the class fantasy better
I know sit to eat will be a thing in this game for mana/health regen between fights, but I think there should be some more active mana regen abilities from bard. Unless there's ways to make a mana battery bard build with augments, but it seemed like even with a bard in the group everyone was running out of mana pretty frequently
This game has improved so much recently. It is getting better. Great job persevering! I have a question regarding classes. Have you ever played the older korean mmo like ragnarok/earlier version of maple story? Will you guys draw some inspiration in their class/job system level? Like a mage-->wizard (different element specialization available) --> archmage or sage or etc. Also, how will the spells be released? I think there's something very satisfying in which spells are slowly made available as you level up. This makes the progression feel rewarding and fun/addicting once you hit level up and finally unlock 1-2 spells.
since day 1 i have wanted to see ashes of creations take on summoners. please make sure its as amazing as the bard. the bard almost tempted me into getting back into supporting but i gotta see how the summoner is. fantastic work everyone i cant wait to see the summoner
