Jews from Yemen were never "Spaniards". Those who are called "Spadi" are those whose ancestors were expelled from Spain at the time the Jews were expelled from Spain, most of those Jews immigrated to North Africa. The ancestors of the Jews of Yemen immigrated from Jerusalem before the destruction of the First Temple and remained there until 1949. (The majority) So there are Ashkenazim, and there are Sephardim and there are Yemenites, you can call the Sephardim and Yemenites "mizrahim"

In earlier years, this was my favorite channel. I used to be so happy with each new video but I began to lose interest. The responses don't seem to add anything to my understanding of Israel, Palestine, Judaism, or Islam. Jews tend to be more open and express a wider range of opinions but nothing unexpected. Palestinians in the West Bank express the required anti-Zionist mantra. Israeli Arabs express a wider range of opinions. Reading the comments is a nightmare. Thoughtful comments are overwhelmed by knee-jerk stupidities from idiots wanting to further their agenda, often anti-semitic and not relevant. I am not sure why this channel worked better in the early days. Maybe all the questions have already been asked.

God. There are so many things wrong here... Let's just start with the question which shows such ignorance. The fact that you call the people who are not Ashkenazi - "Sephardi". That in itself is wrong. It's important what word you use. Sephardi are a small minority of the people who are not Ashkenazi and they usually came from places like Greece, Turkey, maybe Bulgaria and a minority of the Jews from North Africa and some of the Jews in the land of Israel. These people have a unique heritage like the Ladino language which resembles Spanish a bit and was to the Sephardi Jews what Yiddish was to the Ashkenazi Jews. And I think that they are indeed descendants of Jews that were expelled from Spain in the 15th century. BUT, most of the non Ashkenazi Jews are what we call MIZRAHI (eastern) Jews. They come from ARAB countries. They didn't necessarily come to the middle east from Spain. Some lived in these Arab regions for millennia and their language was ARABIC. Now to be fair I would add that in Israel also these names - Sephardi and Mizrahi are used in an ambiguous way to refer to non Ashkenazi Jews without a distinction. That's why many of the people you interviewed agreed when you told them - so you are Sephardi? even though many of them were probably Mizrahi and not Sephardi. I think that ambiguity stems from the fact that many Mizrahi Jews prefer people to connect them to Spain rather than the Arab world which is considered more primitive. If they'd say they were Mizrahi, people would know that they came from an Arab country. If they say they're Sephardi, it's like not exactly clear if they came from the Arab world or they come from the true Sephardi community which is more connected to the Jewish-Spanish heritage.

It is not even about historical claim; a lioness is never shared by two lions... currently Israel is more successful in establishing its right for self determination. There is no world authority that establishes it, only force. So this is a dead end, - today there are more Jews in Israel than probably ever was, and it just doesn't align with the national aspiration of Palestinians.

The question is why did Jews come to Europe in the first place? They exiled from the Land of Israel because of the conquest of different missionary empires such as the Hellenistic, Roman, Islamic, Ottoman and other empires. Jews had to flee! Even those who were in Spain fled in the deportation of Spain to other countries in the Middle East. Jews in Arab countries underwent ethnic cleansing. The reading that I have done on the matter says that during the inter-war years, the word 'Palestinian' meant 'Jew.' The Jews were the Palestinians who were re-settling their ancient homeland. Indeed, there always was a Jewish presence in 'Palestine' from the time of the destruction of the temple (A.D. 70) until the beginnings of the Zionist movement in the mid-to-late 19th century. Furthermore, depending on the source one uses, between 52% and 65% of Jewish Israelis have their origins in the countries of North Africa and the Middle East. They and their descendants can tell of how the Arab nations did a very thorough job of ethnically cleansing their countries of their Jewish citizens. Finally, I find it very telling that many Arab Israelis have very quietly decided that, regardless of Israel's shortcomings, they are better of living in a Jewish state than in any of the surrounding Arab nations. A final note here: I understand the term 'Arab' to be a linguistic one designating the 22 Arabic-speaking nations of the Middle East and North Africa.

It sounds ridiculous to you for two reasons: 1) you don’t realise that most of the time they are talking about the bible 2) you don’t understand that Palestinian nationhood is something which developed as a concept alongside Nazism; such that the Arab leadership in the region was highly connected to the Nazis. Do not take my word for it, look at archival documents from the early half of the twentieth century. Look up old photos of ‘Haj Amin Al Husseini’, then look into his movements during the early part of the twentieth century. There may be condemnation of Netanyahu’s claim that the idea of the Holocaust came from him; but there is no denying that there was active collaboration and shared aims between the Arab leadership and the Nazis when it comes to treating Jews like lesser humans. Something else, folks who have beliefs about this topic which originate from hostile propaganda and related opportunistic info wars - it’s often claimed that the Jews ‘stole’ Palestinian land. There may be one of cases of this, but it misleads people about what was happening before ww2, which was mostly efforts to return to Jerusalem. Land purchase records demonstrate this but the campaigners don’t bother to look at this. In fact it’s also true that some early settlements outside of Jerusalem were set up (see this example rarehistoricalphotos.com/tel-aviv-sand-plot-1909/ )

The claim of the Jews to the land is HISTORIC, not biblical, anyone who traveled in israel knows how strong and deep the connection of Jews to that land is, there are Hebrew writings in every archeological site, that israeli kids can easily read today. Jews always lived in Jerusalem, zfat, akre and Tiberius, and even Napoleon himself back in 1780 initiate a movement of jews returning to palestine (google it). The last guy is correct too, in all of the wars that were forced on the israelis they have won. if that doesn't give them entitlement to that land , I don't know what will. Pro palestinians thinks that Israel started in 1948, but the mass return of jews to Israel started in 1860 with the "old Yishuv" at the same time when native american experienced the Trail of tears. if Israelis need to give the land they "stole" in 1860, than please expel all European Americans from New york, and give it back to the natives.

My answer to the question, as a third generation Middle Eastern Israeli Jew, that the Jews are not only a religion, they are also a people! how does it work? How can it be said that all Jews are related to a country in the Middle East, if some of them are Europeans, or Sephardi? Very simply, the most fundamental difference between Judaism and Christianity and Islam is this: Christianity and Islam are religions founded on preaching and spreading the religion to all the surrounding nations. Christianity sent messengers all over the world, and Islam conquered huge territories in order to spread the religion. Both Christianity and Islam have engaged in forced conversion throughout history, which is why they now number billions of believers all over the world. If you take a random Christian or Muslim, and investigate how the religion came to his family, you will likely end up with a charismatic preacher who taught them about Jesus and the New Testament, or Muhammad and the Kuran, or armed conquerors who converted by force or torture. Judaism is completely different. Judaism supported that Jews keep the Torah, and non-Jews keep the seven mitzvot of Noah's sons. Judaism is a religion of tradition. A tradition that passes between father and son, mother and daughter, rabbi and his community, and so on. And the tradition was preserved in such a way that thousands of years after the destruction of the house, all Jewish (religious) communities preserved it. In Asia, Europe, Africa, they prayed in Hebrew, observed the mitzvot and the Jewish Halacha, read Hebrew Torah books, performed the Jewish ceremonies, and always prayed that a day would come and they would see Israel and Jerusalem in its glory. The Jewish religion has never abandoned the desire to return to our homeland. If you take a religious Jew and investigate how Judaism came to his family, most likely it is a tradition that is thousands of years old, preserved despite the endless attempts to exterminate Judaism and the Jews. No, I am not saying that the land belongs only to the Jews, and I am not saying that the Arabs who lived here have no right or connection to it. I believe that Jews can live in peace with everyone in the Land of Israel. My midwife was Arab, and so was my teacher. I certainly hope that a day will come when Arabs will not be afraid to live among Jews, and Jews will not be afraid to live among Arabs. And I am a strictly orthodox Jew.

What I have read by the way is the Canaanites referred to in the Torah were likely the city dwellers along the coast while the early Hebrews were pastoralists, but they all were related ethnically. One of the new trends is for Palestinians to call themselves descendants of Canaanites (they used to say Philistines) (and it could be true of course but Canaanites are long gone from the nations of the world)... but the purpose of it is to find yet another way to erase Jews or disconnect Jews of today from any connection to ancient Israel. Here is my explanation as a Turkish born American Sephardi: Let's say the family called the Smith family owned a large piece of land somewhere in New Mexico USA where siblings and cousins - extended family lived a modest life. One day another family - the Andrews family - comes along and offers to buy all that land, houses etc. for a very good price. The Smith family take advantage of this once in a lifetime offer and sell the land to the Andrews family. The Andrews cultivate the land, start a farming industry, educate their children who later start building technology and an industry. Three generations after the Andrews' bought the land and their grand children are living there, one day the grand children of the Smiths come back and tell them this was their grandfather's land and they want it back. Would this be acceptable? Would it be legal? After the Zionist congress in 1898, Jews bought land on Ottoman controlled Palestine. (The land records, the deed records still exist). For example the Sursock family - Christian Arabs - sold their vast amount of land around the Jezreel valley to Jews from 1901 to 1925.In 1948 there were lands owned by Jews as well as land owned by Arabs, everything else was passed from the Ottoman Empire to the British Empire by Treaty of Versailles. UN decided to partition the Palestinian land left after Jordan was carved out from Palestine, to be shared between the Jews and Arabs, each ethnicity to create their own sovereign state where they held the majority of the population and dividing the British land in proportion. This way Arabs received about 60% and Jews 40% of the land. Jews accepted the deal and declared independence while Syria, Egypt, Jordan and Iraq, without asking what the local Arabs of Palestine wanted, decided to wipe out Israel and the rest is history as we know it.

Some of the people left by themselves, some were replaced (though finding this info is extremely difficult as it doesn't fit Israeli propaganda), but I'll find it. These Jewish people were expelled from the land for 2000 years. Their ancestors had to live somewhere until 1948 so why does it matter if a couple hundred years ago their ancestors lived in Morocco or Spain? The ancestors from Morocco or Spain had ancestors too and they trace back to the Biblical land of Israel. The land belongs to the Jewish people because God says the land belongs to the Jewish people. Their land deed is in the Bible. The truth is, Jesus Christ is God and He is coming back. Everything is happening on His time. He is the Creator, The Beginning and the End, The Word, The Messiah, etc. He said in the latter days the Jews would return to their homeland and that is what is happening. The Jews are God’s chosen people, and He is not done with them. If you have an issue with this then talk to Jesus Christ who is The Almighty God about it. No matter what you think or how you feel will stop or prevent the truth. The Jews will call out for Jesus at the end of the tribulation, and He will return. Jesus Christ is God and He came to this earth 2000 years ago wrapped in flesh. He came to this earth to shed his innocent blood and die on the cross for everyone’s sins. He is the Lamb of God. Anyone who puts their trust in Him and Him alone will be saved and will spend all eternity with Him in Heaven. Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.” John 1:29 John the baptist 29 The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

In 132 AD the Emperor Hadrian resolved to stamp the Jews and their religion out of existence. He sold all Jewish prisoners into slavery after the revolt of Bar Kikhba, forbade the teaching of the Torah, renamed the province Syria Palaestina, and changed Jerusalem’s name to Aelia Capitolina. He renamed Israel to wipe out the national identity of Israel and the Jews. So if you are looking to 'restore Palestine to the Palestinians', you need to give it back to the Jews.

British-born Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, and Indians can read the Quran, which is written in Classical Arabic. Interestingly, there are ancient rock inscriptions depicting a similar form of Arabic that date back to around 1000 BC. Does this mean their ancestors lived in those regions? The answer is clearly no; shared linguistic or cultural traits don't imply shared ancestry. Now, consider this: thousands of Jews were expelled from Israel by the Romans and migrated northward, eventually becoming part of European society over a span of 2,000 years-roughly 80 generations. Given the long distances and time involved, it's unreasonable to claim that any kind of "Jewish purity" has been maintained over those 80 generations. While some individuals may have retained their ancestral lineage and could have a legitimate claim to the land, certainly not all do. So, to make things fair, why not say that only those with more than 50% original Semitic DNA should have the right to return? European Jews were welcomed to Palestine in 1948, partly because Palestinians had already been living alongside the original Jews who had moved to nearby Arab lands after being banished by the Romans and who later returned to Israel. Over time, many of those Jews converted to Christianity and later to Islam. Therefore, Palestinians are likely partly descended from ancient Jews as well as from Arabs. This blending makes it difficult to distinguish their exact ancestry. Where this discussion becomes unreasonable is in assuming that every person who identifies as Jewish has an inherent right to the land of Israel. Many Jews with blonde hair and blue eyes from Ukraine and Poland are likely converts to Judaism. The exact genetic makeup is uncertain because, notably, consumer DNA tests are banned in Israel, likely to prevent any challenges to Zionist claims.

If it was my land lost I would be salty too tbh, but by now (60 years later) its a fact that can't be changed, I would just accept it and try to make the best of the situation I am in.

You're being sarcastic but that's what I actually believe. I was born in America and so were my parents but I don't consider myself to be an "American" because this country we're living on is all stolen land. We are absolutely the colonizers here. If you're not 100% indigenous to this continent you don't belong here. That goes for you, me, and everybody else with ancestry from somewhere else. We should all vacate this continent and go back to where our ancestors were from. We're the invaders.

The 2000 years since the destruction of the 2nd temple is the blink of an eye in terms of genetics. Jews fled to places in Europe but even with some intermarriage over the centuries it doesn't change genetics. It's how you got people who are pretty brown, in places like Lithuania which is north of Poland. Some of those brown people emigrated to the US, first to the East Coast and then California, and a few generations later there was my mom, who was pretty brown and I'm a bit too brown to be considered "white" in most of the US. People would say "You're 'something'" or "Really, what are you?" it's pretty funny. My mother and her people wanted to bury the past so thoroughly that we kids were told we're a bit brown because we're part Navajo. At least it's a bit more imaginative than the old Cherokee lie. But it turns out not to be true. I'm probably about 2 years out from making aliyah.
