Yeah because people these days have fucking shitty taste in music. This shit right here is why music sucks. Check out NIN the band they copped this shitty parody off of if you want to hear what real and creative music is, and see what an actual talented artist is all about. Miley is cool in her own right but this garbage is why the industry sucks.
@@jobst537 lmao it's a song meant for a show on netflix and it's supposed to be stereotypical pop music, what do you want from it? chill and let people listen to what they like!
@@jobst537 music taste is opinion. Calm down. This song was made to be stereotypical kind of pop girly song thing. It was made for a show that revolves around a certain concept and if you were to watch it you would know this song makes perfect sense for it.
Otter Pop Culture and Julian 15 For those who are asking for the song on spotify: If you listen all the songs from Miley Cyrus’ new ep ''SHE IS COMING" on Spotify, you can unlock and listen to On A Roll after
As a Nine Inch Nails fan... this will never NOT be incredibly strange to my ears! Never thought 'Head Like A Hole' would be interpolated by Hannah Montana 😂😂😂😂
I remember when I first heard this and it was an instant banger, even though I usually don't care for simple pop songs. Then one day I listened to my teenage years' favourite bands, like Nine Inch Nails, and it hit me like a train. :D I guess I forgot how much I liked NIN.
That’s not accidental: that’s a revisited version of “Head Like a Hole” by Nine Inch Nails, which was a hit (and still is, if you go to a concert from them) back in 1990
@@chupaxf Plus the lyrics are deliberately chosen to sound like those tacky "inspirational quotes" you see all over social media. She sounds like she's joined a pyramid scheme trying to sell vitamins or cheap make-up on Facebook. "I'm on a roll, achieving my goals!" Hashtag bossbabe!
Heather Cameron well obviously because it’s from black mirrror, underneath all that there’s that dark undertone of what people really do to stars behind closed doors
@@herbaguskawiryan8081 The original doesn't "suck"... And the fact people like it doesn't make them edgy, they just have a different taste than yours. Besides, even if you dislike them, you should know they're a respected band and their songs were covered by many top artists over the years. There's a reason why the writers of this episode took inspiration from their song... It has quality in it.
My favorite thing about this song? Is how perfectly manufactured, and artificial it feels. It’s produced to perfection to fit the episode of black mirror. It is a plastic, artificially sweetened, lyrically shallow pop song. Perfectly executed for the episode 😍
Check out PC Music if you like this concept. It’s a whole record label/genre that plays on exactly this overproduced super pop sweetness - ironically, and somehow dead seriously all at once.
That's the point. The fact that Brooker chose a Nine Inch Nails song as the basis to cover and the most controversial plastic pop star of the day makes it doubly ironic
Because it’s a play on the Nine Inch Nails song that they use at the end once she’s a rock&roll girl. Point is, it’s actually based off of real songs that exist and weren’t made like “we must make a pop song that sounds like a hit”. Instead they just took a song a lot of people already like and changed it to pop... and it worked really well for the intended purposes… Almost as if to make the audience feel how Ashley felt (like
Don't say that lil guy....youre like 10 yrs old!You have the rest of your life to be disappointed by LOTS of shit!Just like the rest of us!Enjoy Ashley O
The fact that Ashley O has a Spotify page with millions of streams kinda blows my mind. Will Netflix follow up with it bc it makes money or is Ashley o just gonna fade away
@@Enel97 I mean , she's an actress too, so what's wrong with Making a full fake album showing all the society ugliness ? To me it's kinda awesome and brilliant, but kind of this is how real life worked for this industry.. but it could be awesome, releasing a full album created inside the black mirror world
@@jd2086 the whole episode was based on her experiences. So im pretty sure she isnt okay with fake personas. This kind of music is quite different from her current style. So im assuming its not something she wants to do. Which to be honest is a shame. The song is really nice (even though the rythm was taken from the NIN song from the final scene). Anyway I dont know. Im assuming this wont happen but even if it did I wouldnt have a problem. Just think its a little bit hypocritical after she starred in this episode and claimed its really accurate
Trent reznor allowed them to twist some of his songs for the purpose of the show because he liked the message. He will never allow them to destroy his work just for the sake of selling shitty albums to people who didn't even understand the episode.
Viochampagne this song was literally made to show how generic and boring pop songs are. I assume you haven’t seen the Black Mirror episode because the message is that the music industry is corrupt and all their songs sound the same. It’s crazy that fans actually asked for this to be a real song. Clearly they have missed the message of the show
Sam okay that great but it literally proves the stupidity of people. It shows their sheep-like behaviour in that they listen to the same music over and over and over again. You only have to take a quick look in the comments to see this song is a rip-off of another one. You think that was done by accident? This is literally part of a tv show. Black mirror is trying to show that the music industry has been destroyed by people producing the same stuff and yet people lap it up like it’s amazing. So sure, people can like it, but be aware that you’re falling into the trap that the song is trying to get you to avoid. The irony.
@@olliedylan1381 I don't get it because you backtracked a lot in your previous comments. Netflix didn't film this music video with Miley only for RU-vid, they filmed it so they could use it for separate clips in the episode. Netflix released this video promotionally to get more profit since more people unironically liked the song.
@@rogervalkriye4133 It's not just a cover. They changed the lyrics enough that it's a completely new song. But if people haven't heard of NIN or don't like listening to that kind of music, you can't blame them. Everyone has different tastes.
Can you imagine if this Nine Inch Nails song covered by Miley Cyrus replaced Billy Ray Cyrus featuring, Nine Inch Nails sampling "Old Town Road" at #1?
@D V Many astounding episodes from Black Mirror involved women and people of color. You had the opportunity to develop a valid argument, but you are just a racist and sexist prick.
netflix: the music industry is toxic and exploits young people into producing songs that are fake and have no real meaning everyone: YASS STREAM ON A ROLL BY ASHLEY O! xx
They didn't make it to represent shitty pop music, they made it to represent a song that the artist doesn't stand behind, but still has to record and promote because of the pressure from a label.
@Franco Antonio Rizzuto YOU didnt. Ashleys music wasn't bad. She was always a good singer. This is a good song. As is the one she sings in the concert at the end. The episode was about how she wanted to change music styles and try to be free to explore what she likes and be different and they werent letting her and about how the dumb teenagers only wanted the usual pop songs. The episode makes fun of rachel for being dumb and glorifying this song. But it never once shows the song as bad. If anything it makes it clear that people latch on to music for different reasons( jack latched into "alternative" music because thats what her mom used to. Rachel latched to the pop songs cause she liked the idea of the idol because she had no idea of the darkness of the industry. This was never about the song. As a person who doesnt usually listen that much to pop and especially miley cyrus... This song is good. Its a good pop song. The episode was not about how the song was bad only the image the singer sold to the fans being fake.
@@halfaxianbecause it sounds horrible, as a NIN fan 😭 I mean it is MY opinion, I don’t personally like pop songs, I just hyperfixate on NIN and don’t like the fact some random ass woman I’ve never heard of in my entire life decided to make a song that (pretty much) copies a song that was one of my favorites from NIN. Again, is just my opinion, and my opinion is pretty biased because I’m hyperfixating on NIN and don’t personally like pop music 😭
