I actually feel bad for the dancers, cheerleaders, and other performers here. They did their jobs well and didn't deserve to hear boos when I know they worked really hard, and this woman ruins what would've been a great moment for them.
I'm sure they're grown up enough to deal with it, I mean it's what they ought to expect; no performer is gonna get overwhelming praise every single time.

She has a mediocre career that doesn't demand a lot of attention, and anything they may have heard in passing would have been laden with the magic of sound mixing. That was flawless and in a strange way hypnotic. It is true talent in every sense of the word and that is becoming rare these days. I just wish that dumb ass singing would move over so I can see the cheerleaders better

@Sarah Kennedy No, she was fully aware of the fact that her voice petered out before she could even get through a single song. The issue was that she--and others like her--were accustomed to being able to perpetrate any kind of farce upon the public and get away with it. This time it didn't work.
If you listen carefully, she's being booed from the get-go by enough of the crowd to be noticeable. The ending is just even MORE noticeable in the silence. There's no way she thought she was doing well.

I'm a singer, and what I do is mostly "rock" type stuff. Besides her pitchiness, what she's really not doing right is breathing. To scream, and even to sing correctly, you need to breathe from your diaphragm. If you don't and you scream (or sing) from your chest or throat, you won't have the power to back it up. Not to mention, if you don't scream correctly, you can really damage your voice.

I love how the second after she finishes the song, she has this look on her face that says, "Yeah, I was awesome." And then reality comes crashing down on her in the form of a stadium full of pissed off people booing.
This isn't just about Ashley. Say what you want about her performance ability, but there are literally a hundred different performers out there -- from the drummer to the dancers. Not to mention the people who put the whole thing together. If you watch the performance muted you can see some real talent and work put into the rest of the production. It's a shame they all get boo'd just because Ashley Simpson can't sing.

Krittie Mack I don't believe he was guilty. I don't really like the fact that Mike is a muslim, but I followed the rape case closely. I remember watching this live and as soon as she mumbled those first few words, I already knew it was gonna be torturous. Gotta love how the announcer hesitates on the follow up as well as that dude yelling "YOU SUCK!" at the top of his lungs over all the booing.
This was such an insane moment in the national consciousness. All pop-star girls are corporate creations, but Ashee Simpson was SO manufactured that she sailed into an event like this without anybody even stopping to ask, "does anybody like her?". I don't think people were booing her so much as they were booing all the fakeness about everything she represented.
There was a whole host of things wrong with Ashlee Simpson. I think this may have been right after the SNL incident. the Orange Bowl crowd, most who were Oklahoma drunk football bros, were not Ashlees demographic. They let her have it. Using Daddy's influence to make you an insta-star and having ABC make you change the lyrics of the song, then using the ANARCHY symbol while flaunting your privilege and obedience, my eyes rolled out of my sockets. She earned those booos, which was the only thing she ever legitimately earned in her life.
If I recall correctly, Ashlee's spin was that the crowd hated the entire show and she just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. That said, her performance was bad. Not Black Eyed Peas at the Super Bowl bad, but very, very bad.
I once had my headphones on in the middle of the night and I was "singing" along to Mariah Carey and I tried to do her high note thing and the neighbors called the police and told them they thought I was being attacked, that's how awful I sounded. My point is, I could do exactly what Ashlee Simpson is doing here and probably better.

The irony is... that anarchy symbol she was using to appear 'edgy' represents more of what the audience did in response compared to anything she was ever doing before, during, or after the time when she was up there.
