We travelled back to North Carolina to see if Mama Nikko and Grandpa Beans are proud of or humiliated by their prodigal grandchild... Video by Henry Dean Ashnikko: / ashnikko / ashnikkomusic / ashnikko / ashnikko
The fact that she’s willing to make these videos and show them to her grandparents, it’s like she can’t really be that embarrassed at the end of the day. People who are actually embarrassed don’t make these videos, and if they do, they don’t show them to their grandparents. So, respect.
@@kevindagod She's doing it for herself anyone who goes into music knows it's either a hit or a miss and most people don't get rich and famous plus she's done interviews and explained the reasoning behind it
@@kevindagod She doesn't have to choose between her family and her career. Why would that even be a thing? And if she was only out for money, she'd probably have chosen something other than 'musician' as a career path.
Her grandma is probably like mine. I could call my grandma up, and tell her that I spent the weekend snorting yay off of dozens of naked guys. And she'd just be like "That's great baby! They were all nice to you right? Did you have a good time? You probably shouldn't do that every weekend, but whatever." 😂🤣😂🤣
@@alexscott1689 yeah, but that doesn’t mean it’s not sexual now. just because a words origin is rooted somewhere else, doesn’t mean that it’s meaning can’t change.
As soon as Halloweenie started playing I blushed SO hard from secondhand embarassment because I hadn't heard it before so it felt like it was ME showing it to her grandparents lmfao. I love this haha
I love that no matter their values and opinions they encourage her and lover her and want her to keep being herself. They are adorable. I would love to have such supportive grandparents.
I FEEL YOU!! Literally Halloweenie is so... eh ya'know (i hope) but like when people online or in the moment react to something with me all the awkward parts get way worse! And i felt awkward the whole video!
The fact that both of her grandparents simmered down and sat back much more comfortably after she explained that she was using her sexuality and femininity for power and not to objectify herself warmed my heart. They were uncomfortable because they didn't want their baby to sell her body and image rather than her talent, and as soon as that sank in for them they sat back and went "Oh no we'd never ask her to stop." Like thats real love right there. Accepting despite the discomfort, and even with that discomfort, they still just wanted to make sure she was safe. Very sweet.
she does objectify herself lol she just says its what its not. fake feminism just playing to the male created value of a woman < sexualization while womens value is much greater then this that we are told to be and emphasis lol.
@@primalblissco In what way is she treating herself like an object. She's taking control of what she wants. The male gaze is complicated but we can't just hide from it, because it will exist until the end of this patriarchal based society :(
@@justinjohnson6481 oh honey, nice defense. But I love all the flavors of ice cream in all the right places, except ya know the shit flavoured ones. Keep on keeping on and just go eat a pile already if you love it so much babe.
"LIFE is about *SEX* . Is life *ALL* about sex? No. Is life ONLY about sex? Nope. GoOD life is about *BALANCE* or u trippin, fallen, falling, smashing, hurting and maybe DEAD too early. People are weak and serve the "demon" that is ALL about terrible balance." -XXXX🦁XXXX+
Giiirrrllll! Your grandparents are awesome! This was epic! They are so supportive, even when they don't agree, they still understand the work, importance, confidence, & creativity their gorgeous grand daughter puts forth & loves! Supportive just like your mom is. That right there helps your success excel! So I definitely agree that a part 2 would only make sense since "Slumber Party" has been released since this.
Only recently been introduced to Ashnikko's music and wasn't sure if I liked it or not, but this honestly gained my respect. I'll be listening to more of her songs from now on.
Ok but actual sex addiction is bad and alot of sex addicts need to seek therapy Because they struggle with legit intamacy . Theres no wrong with sex but addictions are serious whether is be to drugs, sex , food , gambling. Its not good and it does have reprocussions . I have had lots of sex but I am not addicted sex . Real sex addiction isnt fun.
I agree! 😂 She is like "OMG WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO MY GRANDBABY!?" Then Grandpa is like "Kids grow up one way or another... but I don't think *MY* grandkid should be *THAT* abscessed with that"
Im a 50 year old mom to a gorgeous son who showed me the amazing Ashnikko around 2019, I got us tickets to see her in Toronto but due to Corona and lockdown it was pt off till 2022, by that time i was so sick i couldnt attend but that is where Boe met their soulmate. Anyway, I absolutely love this and wish she would do this again with some of her other songs, her grandparents are so sweet. Thank you for being your amazing selves everyone, peace and much love sent from Ontario, Canada.
I think it's beautiful, the relationship with your grandparents!! It's hilarious watching your grandparents reactions!! Thank you for the music and thank you for sharing with all of us!!
Awww that was really touching, it's amazing that you have supportive grandparents, they are so adorable! 💚💚💚 thanx for giving us a peek into your life ashnikko!
The way her music videos didn't make me uncomfortable at all but watching her grandparents react recontextualized it and now everyone is cringing slfkjsdlfk
Oh my God how precious are her grandparents. Even than grandma like she's clearly uncomfortable and still being so supportive and encouraging her family is so amazing
I LOVE how conservative they are and how they dont necessarily agree with her style but how they are SO Accepting and supportive regardless... i think some parents could learn a lot from this.
I think it comes down to loving your child more than you love your views. It’s so refreshing watching how much they love her, even if they disagree with her. And they aren’t saying that they disagree, they just go along with it. Sorry, my ramble is over now 😅😅
I totally agree. I think this is kind of a mutual thing. Ash's attitude towards them is also so cutely contrasts with her general artistic persona which is highly rebellious. They are well aware that what they share is precious and their views or ways of being is not something neccesarily harms it. Both parents and us can learn from them, I guess.
“I wouldn’t encourage her to stop” the fact that her grandparents can appreciate her amazing talent, whether it be their taste or not, makes my heart happy ❤️❤️
@@petlover345 people know what talent is, it varies as does music style. time changes, and art changes with time so we can either accept that people will like whatever type of music and media they will or we can be bitter and passive aggressive about it and waste our time on something we dont enjoy. i normally listen to metal and dont like much rap but ashnikko isnt bad at all once you get out of your comfort zone. and if you still dont like her then okay but you cant deny that people like her for a reason.
Yo they are supportive so much that’s so good. She was even encouraged to continue her dreams with music and keep writing music that has some symbolic meaning.
This honestly warms my heart cause as much as they may be uncomfortable, they are still very supportive, accepting and proud of you. I wish I had that kind of family.
Sweetest thing is, they are so supportive of their granddaughter despite being from a very different era. I miss my grandma even more after watching this. She was my greatest cheerleader :( Pop isn't really my thing but I like what you're doing around the bodypositivity for vulnerable, impressionable teenagers. Good for you Ashnikko. All the best from a grumpy old metal dude!
They are both so great! Told their opinions, laughed about and accepted her for who she is. Hopefully everyone struggling with their identity will eventually have a moment like that with their family.
