Why an old company like Ashok Leyland still cannot manufacture world class buses is a mystery. All the Chinese bus manufacturers like Youtong,BYD, Higer, Kinglong, Foton etc etc started their operations much later than AL yet they produce world class buses and export them to even developed world. AL till now hasn’t been able to manufacture a rear engine multi axle bus with 300-400 hp. But the Chinese companies produce them in good numbers. AL buses are very crude and primitive. Their buses are underpowered, engine make noise and rattle, seats aren’t comfortable and lack proper leg space. The luggage compartments door system are like the trunk cover. There is no business class bus with 2:1 seating arrangement. Don’t the CEOs of the company see what's being produced around the world. Import of CBU buses should be opened with lower tariffs so that Indian passengers can taste the luxury of modern buses.
