Geoff used to be the most handsome man in prog rock---WHAT HAPPENED? The poor lad didn't grow old well, did he? Everytime "Video Killed the Radio Star" came on my TV screen or I saw an Asia video, I was mesmerised by his beauty--had a major "man crush" on Geoff!
My thought was that Steve Howe quit Asia because he didn't think there was anything more to do for him in that band. Reunion albums? Check. Reunion tours? Check. Also, his last album with Asia sounded to me more like the Asia guys playing on a John Wetton solo album than a group effort.
I never knew that Steve was with Asia. Always associated his great guitar playing with Yes, which was the first group I really liked as a kid. LOL, along with KC and the Sunshine Band :/

People read too much into things. Downes had the same look after every question. He was just thinking of a response. As for Howe, an old time rocker focusing on a solo career post-Classic Rock radio means he has NOTHING going on and he was either fired or quit. Name one member of any classic rock band who got a solo career going after the concept of "Classic Rock" radio developed? It was a death sentence for new material. Downes was being polite.
It's a sad comment that the very artist who are the foundation of the music can't get new music played, it's why the form is dying - people complain about nothing new but they'd rather hear Stairway for the 10,000th time than listen to new music
I saw a GRAVITAS show at a club in Sept 2014. It was a solid gig, Carl, JW, and Geoff played well. Sam Coulson played well, different from Steve, maybe closer to Pat Thrall. The Asia formula was basicly intact. I wish they had attempted a more proggier album at least once before it's all said and done!
Say what you will, JW always the main focus as most front men are, probs from the beginning between Wetton and Howe, no secret .. RIp JW and to Steve Howes son Virgil
Geoff is truthful, two bands at an amateur level is a bit much, at this level with the commitments involved for both bands, and then other projects is a lot too much.
