While the umpire's calls today might not have been the best, credit goes to Taiwan's starting pitcher, who delivered an outstanding performance on the mound.
She took total control of a game with 12 year olds playing shame on her. Out of position every call. Stands behind the batter and blocks off the plate. She’s gotta get off her knees cus she blew that game
@@Yamudda13you’re telling me you’ve never seen an ump that didn’t like the up ball? Anyone who’s followed baseball for more than a year knows this is part of the game. Yes her strike zone was lower than most but it was consistent. The Taiwanese kid saw that too and adjusted accordingly. He got stung on a breaking ball that should’ve been called a strike but you saw he stopped hitting that spot. It ain’t all about power pitching princess. Her strike zone was lower than the standard. I’d tell you to go cry about it, but you already are 😂.
@@andrewkravmaga1833 you don’t need to follow baseball to know that’s ridiculous. Watch her behind home plate any other game. She changed the zone and like I said she’s out of position every play. Can’t move with the catcher. Then to call time is ridiculous. If an umpire ever talks to my player I’m getting thrown out of the game as manager. It’s not real baseball and I guess I’m frustrated because these kids are so good but it’s not the MLB… so why call an mlb zone. Umpires in college will give me those calls all day and that’s what decided the game. She costed him 25 more pitches which is 1-2 more innings of him pitching complete game changer. Then she fucked up the rest of her calls because she wasn’t sure of herself. It’s just embarrassing and a bad look for women. You have to be perfect if you are gonna do something that nobody has typically done. Jackie Robinson was perfect and changed history and broke stereotypes.
Easy to be dominate when the strike zone expands for Taiwan and shrinks fir Venezuela. This fame was a joke. Watch what she called as strikes for a high fastball, if you don't believe me.
@@brad3706 Clearly you didn't watch the game live. The umpire's calls this game were pretty consistent. Pitches above the letters was called a ball across the board, as it should be. The Venezuelan team is taller than the Taiwan team.
@@brad3706 There were a lot of strikes that went uncalled on both sides, but the difference is that Taiwan's ace was very composed, and most of the strikeouts were on swings and misses.
I'm not going to argue with the ump, but I don't think she's giving any strike above the waist yet. When a strike zone makes the difference in a championship game.
@@TonyC-le3ksjust because you crouch down further doesn’t mean you should get a better strike zone. Clearly the ump doesn’t know that and that’s why she’s umping little league
@owennmarino9059 cause it is the little league world series? These are umps that call higher level baseball like HS or college. Even with a tight zone it was 4-1...imagine what it would be with a wide zone?
Once again Chinese Taipei (Taiwan) is the smallest team I’ve ever seen in the LLWS that is so good at making contact with the baseball 🔥 I’m rooting for them
If the strike zone is supposed to be chest to knees, then they should call it that way. I was sitting here getting angry because so many of those early pitches were strikes the whole tournament, but not in this game for some reason. Definitely feel for the kid, the ump was being insanely tight with the calls.
It was a college strike zone - and that's being nice. Even if she was calling pitches like that in college, some players and coaches would've gotten ejected after some of those calls Credit to Taiwan for the pinpoint accuracy much of the game but the game became who could throw within that miniscule zone and it was so frustrating to see those kids dreams ruined by some ump's ego or desire to show they "belong." There was a thing we used to do when an ump was especially bad -- throw a high heater that the catcher "accidentally" misses, leaving the ump to take one right off the mask. Yepez i believe his name is - great talent - had every right to dial one up to 80 and ring her bell! Credit to him for keeping his composure all things considered. Hopefully the final isn't ruined by clown world umps.
Yup that’s why Japan could beat them as well. Velocity guys are hard to catch. Taiwan had one last year and it ended up being a big of an issue in a tight situation
Time to bring glory back to the island. It’s been tough but finally we have the recipe. Won like 10 of 11 last junior league World Series. Time to dominate llws again
@@RS-tz2zn lol we’re never banned. They changed the rules specifically for Taiwan. Don’t talk about what you don’t actually know the facts of. Plus Taiwan can’t even use all star teams. It’s literally one team for every elementary school. Keep yapping. We draw from a smaller talent pool
@@danjo1967exactly. “tHe VeNeZueLaN kId waS DoNe dIrTy!” The Taiwanese kid played the same game against the same ump and her strike zone and came out with 12 strikeouts. I don’t know what the fuck these mfers are crying for. Yes, her strike zone probably hurts power pitchers, but there’s finesse pitchers out there too. I’m probably a little bit biased considering Maddux was one of my favorite players, but I’m convinced the Taiwan pitcher is miles better than the Venezuelan kid.
The umpire strike zone was unstable, both team pitchers were facing same situation As a good pitcher, have to find way to adapt it instead of showing emotional…
I give it maybe 3, max 4 calls i would give yepez, especially with either 2 strikes or none. But imo not the most egregious umpiring ive seen. Was pretty tight for LL tho. Venezuelan bats just got overpowered
Yes, Thaught I was only person that saw that! When u keep the bat in bunt position it’s a strike period! Doesn’t matter where the ball crossed the plate
The ump had a couple bad calls early but basically every ball 4 in the third inning was CLEARLY a ball. They were either eye level fast balls or ahalf a foot of the plate. Hell, the pitcht that got the strikeout for the final out in the 3rd inning was a breaking ball that never once crossed the plate and was a bit off. Fine with her giving Venezuela a gimme as it ended up close, but naaah. Venezuela's ace had an off day. It happens. Wasn't on the ump though.
Agree with this everyone saying the ump but I saw the same game you did. I think in the first ending she may have missed 1 or 2 strikes but other than that she called the game correctly. Every ball she called was definitely a ball. Kid just had a bad day and that happens.
@@denzelmalcolm6721missed a lot more than that should've been out of the inning 0-0 just because you crouch to bunt doesn't make a ball over your head a ball its a clear strike when they stand up its below the letters
home plate was a postage stamp. Ridiculous at this age, imo. Both were great teams and had great performances -- both have reason to be proud. Great job, Wheels, as always.
Those fastballs at the top of the zone were at the elbows at the beginning. Those calls changed the game as the other team knew to throw offspeed to get strike calls.
I’m sorry I don’t think the calls in the beginning were strikes other than maybe one. The slider should have been a strike yes for Chinese. But This is classic pitcher getting frustrated and throwing a fit because he isn’t getting calls. Then pitching 4 straight walks in the third. None of those are strikes.
What a strong team Taiwan is. They have class too, the way they bow at the end. That's a good group. Venezuela also is a very good team. To me, I think the pitching made the difference here. Good group of kids. I liked it when the SS helped the runner put his shoe back on. Good sportsmanship.
Loved that the Venezuelan pitcher shows emotion. All apart of the game and it’s good for kids to show frustration even on the biggest stage. Some might disagree and that’s fine.
He uses a soft wrist when throwing the ball, and his cousin ball is harder and faster than his. So he had to use slider or curve ball to lure batter strikes out.
@@chung-chitien4650 that fastball slider combo was just nasty...then he would throw in a curve every once in a while. Also props to whomever is calling the pitches...breaking pitches in the first few innings to negate Ven's aggressiveness...and then fastballs in the later inning after getting the batters to think.
@@sportgeek2028are you stupid. “Everyone” aka you, thought Taiwan would lose. Most people thought Taiwan would win because they have been so dominant in the pass. Clearly you’ve never watched little league before
Not consistent strike zone. Idk why at the end she was calling balls on all of Taiwan’s ace’s strikes when she was giving those as strikes earlier? Donsent she wanna go home earlier 😂
I was under the impression that the person behind the catcher with the mask on was an umpire...ya' know, the person that is suppose to know what a ball or strike is ...
Just because you crouch to bunt doesnt make one abo e your head a ball its still a strike when they stand up and its below the letters horrible umpiring
Pitcher throwing a baby tantrum doesn’t help. Literally walked 4 hitters in a row because of it. He is the reason they lost. Not the ump. Should of adapted.
I agree, I only saw 2 or 3 calls that could have gone either way. Even those would be balls at the high school level and above, but you see them called for strikes fairly regularly at the little league level. The rest were clearly balls, and the pitcher just got in his own head and couldn't overcome his emotions.
The umpires were bad all tournament but WOW the international championship is a bad time to have their worst showing. Home plate ump should never be behind the dish again.
Taiwanese teams are always 12 years old. They are smaller than many 13 years old kids. Taiwanese teams are strictly in Elementary schools. Their strike zone is of course smaller. Yet, you have to respect them to compete only by 12 years olds. They used to have big kids. But recent 30 years, parents learned to have fun and watching kids win or lose.
@FieldVisit you understand LL actually promotes volunteers right? The whole tournament is run by volunteer. One of the stadiums is literally called Volunteer Stadium
@@TonyC-le3ks who cares? Let the rest be volunteers. I’m not trying to be mean but a volunteer firefighter still gotta fight fires.. someone gotta call the game correctly
@@TonyC-le3ks it being an actual competitive game is what makes it fun for these boys.. when the ump is clearly in the way of the game is my point. It’s not about winning and losing as much as it is the integrity of the game
Umpire completely took over the game in the first inning...... Taiwan probably would have won anyway since Venezuela couldn't hit a decent pitcher just like against the Japan kid.
