It was Supreme that ordered the hit on 50 cent. 50 was up against Ja and supreme was money laundering through Murda Inc. Supreme thought 50 snitched on him but was actually paying homage to him. So supreme put the hit out on 50. Its not clear that who shot him he just happened to give a name to the feds and the world which makes sense cause hommo got shot 3 weeks later and a dead person don't reply back. The whole point was to let supreme know that he wont snitch on supreme.

I remember all of this. I was born and raised in Southside Jamaica Queens. Grew up with 50 and Yayo older brother Jean. A lot of truths in this song. The Slim switched sides on me was referring to an OG from our hood name Chaz “Slim” Williams. 50 felt Chaz knew about the hit on him. Chaz was 50 manager early in his career. Chaz is also like #3 for the top 5 bank robbers in US history. 50 was shot by Daryl “Hommo” Baum (a steppa from Brooklyn . “Hommo” being short for homicide was also a close friend of Mike Tyson. He was killed a few weeks after he shot 50 in front of his grandmother house.

If you like this type of music from 50 check out "guess whose back", it came out before this and in my opinion his best work. He had mixtapes all over Jamaica queens and I remember when they first played him on the radio.. it wasnt received well by the djs because they were friends with the people 50 was dissing. Later on when he signed a major label his lyrics were more radio friendly. He even collaborated with people he dissed, missy elliot was one if I remember correctly.

This song is probably one of the greatest hip hop songs of all time. Timeless record. The guy who shot 50, "Hommo", was actually killed by someone from CMB, Cash Money Brothers. Those mfers didn't play. Idk if 50 ordered it, or if he was doing some dirt, but they shot him execution style.
9:38 I agree with what you guys are saying, but also consider this guy was authentic and in a world were the Godfather, Scarface etc is glorified people really respected that. When BJ says the old 50 was better I just think his story was better because he was the underdog that no one in the industry wanted to win, once he did well his story arc was over plus Hip-Hop shifted away from gangsta music into Kanye West style of rap. This is still one of the realest songs and albums ever and loved Asia's reaction to it.

This is his best song! Meaning this was as real for him as it’s ever gonna get. He was shot according to “records” 9 times! Also according to him it was someone close to him that did it. 50’s still here while the other just isn’t. That’s why this is the hardest rap song created to date!
