Wrapping silver in Saran wrap reduces tarnish. Drove me crazy you unwrapped and didn't rewrap to reduce tarnishes. Please be more careful with glass and china when showing us the goods. Was holding my breath.

tip for all, to tell cut glass from molded, run your finger gently over the "cut" places. If cut, they will feel as sharp as a razor, if molded they are dull and kind of rounded off.

Eileen Murphy that they don’t know cake forks, dessert spoons, soup spoons and other cutlery that you use all the time is even more surprising. Not to mention not knowing nickel silver doesn’t contain any silver or that their silver plate is worthless. Calling copper brass at the start as well. Bible that looks less than 50 years old - it’s really old! Radio control for a plane - never seen anything like it.

Never clean old silver or silver plate as the patina generally makes it worth more - that includes dinnerware. Every time you polish it there is a very fine grit that is found in all polishes that will remove parts of the silver or plate. PS. It is spelled and pronounced SHEFFIELD Shef - Field. Just tryin to edgumcate ya!!!!!! LOL!!!

Of course you polish silver! Just use silver dip to clean it up and use a soft cloth after... Also worth having a hallmarks book and testing kit. To be honest, once you've been dealing awhile you can tell solid silver at a glance even if it doesn't have marks. I've got great eyesight so can see the marks without using a glass, gives you a great advantage. I once bought an old cutlery box full of cutlery. The guy who was selling it had looked at a couple of the pieces and seen sheffield plate marks, so mugged the whole thing out for 2 bucks. I noticed most of it was solid silver at a glance. About 50 oz of silver in there..Rock on!!!

Not a great fan of Asian stuff - but have to admit this is one heck of a good unit. Wonder what happened to the owner. I always wonder that - especially these well packed and cared for things. The chest/drawer furniture looks like something that would have been bought at one of the decor stores a few years ago.

That brass piece looks more like copper, is not really expensive. That lighter looks like a Dunhill lighter - it could be gold or gold plated and is worth quite a lot. Those "saké" cups look more Chinese than Japanese, to me. Those Asian boxes look like they are either Japanese or Chinese lacquer boxes - could be worth something. In general, most of those Asian objects seem to be Chinese, to me. I might be wrong. The golden rim on the crystal glass is gold leaf, I reckon. Those old 19th cetury photos of ladies are personal in a sense, they could be the grand-mothers or great-grandmothers of the storage unit owner and in that sense are very precious to him or her. I treasure the old 19th century photos of my father and his sister and of my grandfather and great-aunts and uncles. They are very personal to me, they are part of my family history. That trunk by itself is worth good money. How to tell if a rug is expensive - look at the back, the smaller the "weave" the more expensive they are. Solid silver always has proper hallmarks. Given that nickel silver has no actual silver content, it is not worth anything to precious metal refiners. Unfortunately, there is nothing of value to extract. That "old bread basket" is more like a fruit basket, and as it is tarnished, it certainly is either solid silver or silver-plated. I think you might be disappointed by all that silverware, none of it seems to be solid silver but silver plated. Made in England must be Sheffield. Those little "tongs" are sugar tongs for picking sugar cubes to put in tea cups. Those are small reproductions of the old Chinese soldiers from the Terracotta Army, a collection of terracotta sculptures depicting the armies of Qin Shi - they are mass produced as tourist souvenirs. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4c_ADqshdSA.html Yes, Mom, I think you're right, it is straw art. Those two elephants are stands for large flower pots - they are probably not worth all that much. I've got one and I bought it new for not much money at all. Those two cylindrical ceramic objects are not stools to sit on, they to are stands for large flower pots. They don't go on top of the elephants, they are not "connected" to the elephants. I read "fragile" and "Sara", not jars. :) I need to go to bed now, have only watched until 52:46 - back tomorrow for the rest. I hope you had a very Happy Easter!

Not only is some of the art worth money so is some of the framing . You should be alot more careful with it so you are not creating damage that will devalue your overall price. I definitely saw damage to the framing that was caused by the way you handled them. Also put tape on the ones that have broken glass so it can't shift and damage the art or framing.

Some of those Chinese clay figures can be valued high so be sure to research well. AWESOME unit Wade. So much work but ultimately well worth it.

You find the coolest stuff, but I have to laugh - I cringe when you manhandle delicate or personal things as if you’re digging through the dirt for potatoes! (and pack breakables as if they weren’t) I hope you are able to find out the true value of these things before they get damaged!

Nickel silver, Maillechort, German silver, Argentan, new silver, nickel brass, albata, alpacca, is a copper alloy with nickel and often zinc. The usual formulation is 60% copper, 20% nickel and 20% zinc. Nickel silver is named due to its silvery appearance, but it contains no elemental silver unless plated.
