You hit the nail on the head (you are exactly right). By not doing investigative reporting, we'll all assume our worst fears such as white supremacy, out of control social injustice issues , etc, resulting in watching more news (click bait). Perhaps, many of the culprits are mentally ill, and some of those people are performing copycat offences. Perhaps some of the culprits are looking for easy prey. Each case needs to be looked at in more depth.
As an Asian living in the US for the past 23 years I've experience racism from all races, so to me it doesn't even matter what race he is, the only thing that matters is he gets taken off the streets

Just a few years in jail? No, he is a danger to society. He needs a longer sentence, plus rehabilitation/therapy/anger management prior to being released. The victim will appear to heal, but no telling how many years he can experience effects, such as neck pain or headaches, not to mention anxiety.

I stopped wearing some patriotic and proud US service member clothing since these assaults happen. I still feel like an alien even though I voluntarily joined the service with all my self and been living here since. This is sickening. I stand with you! currently Filipino Combat Engineer here too! Plus I've experienced hate crime as well recently from a non-asian veteran from my street upon walking to my parking space. These hate crimes needs to end.
Both of my brothers are veterans, fought and served in the major wars the US waged during the 80's and 90's. Both of them are senior citizens now as and it worries me that this is how they will be repaid for their service.

This is a a symptom of a city and a state that over the years has coddled criminals at the expense of law abiding citizens. As a victim of a criminal on parole who stole over $200,000, I received no support from the authorities in SF. He was convicted of armed robbery and kidnapping and served 24 years of a life sentence and they couldn’t care less. He is still living in SF victimizing unsuspecting residents. Kudos to the SFPD, DA’s office, and the parole department.🤗

Last month, a 27 yr old Korean American Air force veteran was a victim of a hate crime. He was physically assaulted on the streets of LA city in Koreatown , and the assailant screamed out derogatory racist epithets while attacking him. There is a video about it on RU-vid.
What if people yelled at him, go back to Africa, where you belong ... Or to the white people there, go back to Europe! Cause the land of America belongs to the Indians. . Learn the history. This may be a controversial response but... I think the term "Asian American" has to stop. It's a tag more than it is a term that westerners use because to them all asians are "chinese" .. they can't tell or care to educate themselves that asians come different countries, and there is a big difference amongst them. However since "we all look a like", we normally get generalized as chinese - which is why Thai's, Filipinos, etc get blamed or insulted with anything related to China (go back to China, Covid, etc). Americans think we are all the same. Maybe it's time to retire the tag "Asian American" and just identify us for what country our ancestors came from: Japanese American, Filipino American, Chinese American, Thai American, etc..

I was assigned to 455ECES at Bagram Airfield, the assignment was equivalent to combat engineer. We wear vest with old school metal plate fully loaded, and M4 is the only thing to protect ourselves while we building concrete block under hundred degree desert sunshine. One day my own battle buddies cornered me to comment "do you think we built this nation for you? You are foreign!" Yea, my own fking battle buddies, the ppl I suppose to leave my back to when we dig into shit and trust lives for each other. Nope, there is no trust, not even in military, not even in your brother hood. Your skin is your tag, no matter what you give, those bastards never ever think about to slightly show respect. I have no regret to serve my country, it's been an honor, those looser wont let my faith down, Asian in US military is REAL, we serve just like others.

One thing IGNORED in the USA is the fact Filipino soldiers absolutely destroyed Abu Sayyaf in Marawi. They were absolutely incredible, saving civilian hostages and human shields, and every last one of the Abu Sayyaf leadership was killed. Sorry, these guys outdid even Seal Team 6.

When I worked in SF these last five years, I saw 3 robberies in broad daylight, all by the fellas. In one instance, at Market and 7th, two fellas grabbed an older man, beat the crap out of him until he was unconscious and laying in a pool of blood. They then proceeded to go through his pockets as he laid there. SF is not a safe place anymore.
