Western media generally really does the bare minimum in "research" before writing anything about BTS and she's very right when you think about how they don't talk a lot about the creators behind Beyonce's music or many other big western artists. They really try to paint the picture that others are responsible for BTS's music or success especially when it's a western collaborator. Yes give people credit for the work they did but also don't inflate how much of a contribution they gave to downplay BTS's involvement. Western media almost always has an agenda with writing about BTS there are an extreme few journalist that have any integrity any longer and a lot of times when we do get a great piece it's because either A.) The journalist is army or B.) the writer is wanting good clicks/comments on their articles this time. I remember when I heard about BTS being featured on an interview on cbs Sunday Morning which caters to an older demographic, they had a real opportunity to do something different like interviewing older army or talking about their charity work. But I was rolling my eyes during most of it because it was your stereotypical portrayal of a boyband with "teenage female fans" and talking about their merchandise they sell like the Mattel dolls etc. The tv network has involvement in the music industry, if I was a bit better at research I'm sure I could find the more direct ties to the industry itself. So naturally they already have a screwed view point as it doesn't benefit their pockets to paint them as anything but a current fad.

I have found her videos very informative and knowledgeable. She is ARMY for one but also is in the entertainment industry. She is the only person I follow that I joined her Patreon channel.

the prostitutionthing is actually true and happened very recently actually. the problem is western media doesnt distiguish between labels/companies in kpop/korea. when a scandal happenes they call it a kpop scandal and make people who dont know about bts, kpop or korea think its ALL of kpops scandal. thats the main issue is there are many dark things that happen in kpop/korea along with many music and entertainment industries around the world including the u.s but they ONLY paint kpop and korea as 1 thing instead of many different labels, different artists and different experiences throughout the industry and when a scandal happens it doesnt mean everyone is involved it just means something bad happened with 1 artist, group or label. they purposely paint it as a ALL so that westerners will avoid ALL kpop including bts because they saw this terrible thing happened once 5 years ago that didnt even involve more than 6 idols. the burning sun scandal is what many westerners know of when it comes to kpop as well as the big 3 labels horrible treatment and abuse. bighit was created because bang pd didnt like such practices. thats why bts succeeded more than any big 3 group before them and the ones succeeding are either using bts to prop themselves up or doing the same things bts did. i suggest if youre curious to know about difficult topics like the one that includes prostitution i suggest to react to rotten mangos videos like the sewol, itaewon halloween, the burning sun scandal, a kris wu she explains all these issues very well but bring awareness. majority of things westerners think about kpop dont apply to bts but sadly not everything is wrong or misinformation. its just the fact that media misleads the public but that doesnt erase the horrible things from occurring too.

I'm glad you talked about sexual preferance. Too many people like to assume BTS' sexuality just by looking at their clothes, how they hug each other a lot and how they dance. I saw reactors assume Jimin was gay while they were watching his 'Serendipity' performance.

lol. I think I’ve been watching too much BTS content because I already knew most of this. I also never listened to rap until BTS and now I watch and absorb the lyrics. I’m 61 and have music written in my soul and bones. This is the first time in my life I actually paid attention to the actual artists rather than just the music. 😊💜💜💜💜. At this point I agree with the Borg, “Resistance is futile.” 😅😅

This was a slightly surreal, but delightful, experience. A content creator I follow, reacting to another content creator I follow. I'm glad you enjoyed her video, and that you are thinking about checking out more. I think you would really enjoy them. You are both great content creators. So I thank you both for your hard work. 💜

I loved this commentary. BTS are so multi-faceted that it takes lots of work to truly grasp their artistry and impact on the industry. Thank you for your comments.❤❤

You also have to be careful not to put Asians all in one basket.

The Western media cares about BTS s* appeal because they are of the believe that BTS is just a boyband like all the others Western boybands and that their fans are exclusivly teenage girls and that is the interest of those so they will read those articles. I'm on Koreaboo and read the fan articles and a lot of them are about looks and what the Idols wear. It's often very superficial. So I can't even 100% deny that fact even if it is far from the main appeal. The channel Asian Entertainment and Culture is very interesting. I have seen many of her vids and she did a vid for each chapter of BTS biography and even for each episode of it. And that "prostiution" thing isn't that old. It came up again with the SOPA scandel a few years ago if I remember it at least as questionable. DKDKTV had a vid about it. There was also the male group that sued their female boss for inapprociate behaviour among other things. Personally I love bby gang mag's video essays that followed "you are wrong about K-pop" and how and why Western media report so much nonsense. "No dating"... in part also because debuting groups are usually minors. I believe in South Korea 20 is the age of consent. There is also the need to seem to be aviable to their fans and we have seen sasaengs go way over the top. If I remember correctly it was only last year when a sasaeng approached Taehyung (?) with a marriage certificate in the evalator of his home. Yuzuru Hanyu (Japan) is a very famous figure skater even as he retired from competition. In summer he told everyone how happy he was to marry the love of his life. But she was a "civilian". A month (?) later he told the world they were divorcing because she and her family could not live with how reporters and his stalker fans stalked them. They decided it together for her mental health. I think it is easy to missinterpret them on occassion like "Go Go". Which is why I watched 2 vids "explained by a Korean" to do so. Personally I like the briefings on the HYBE channel or vids like the T&D vids as well. You nice! Keep going! 💜
