I have both the kayano 30 & gt2000 12. I enjoy running in both. Gt2000s for when i feel like picking up the pace & kayano when i just want to take care of my joints. What i like about both of them is the unobtrusive stability mechanisms. I dont appreciate a hard post under my arch. No doubt i will enjoy the 31. Thanks for the review!
What's a better bet kayano 30/31 or gt2000 12 for marathon distance of 4hr pace. Or are there other stability mid to high cushion shoe that u feel is better? Tried the tempus, may be it's only done 30km but it feels too firm and just gotten the Boston 12 which seems to have some nice stability character (in the shop) but yet to try on the road.
That midfoot piece isn't a more dense piece of foam. The way it was explained to me is that it's a bouncier, more responsive compound (and it feels that way if you push into it with your fingers). The thought is that it will help your foot push though the pronation phase of your stride; as a result allowing your foot less time to pronate. I don't know how much of that is just marketing speak, but it's pretty comfortable and doesn't feel posted, and it seems to work.
