I think Fordy was just being nice; “super blast is a superior faster more comfortable better all round shoe than the Novablast” is basically what he was saying while not throwing the Novablast completely under the bus 😂
Superblast the king, the champagne nova 4 the prince.. Both great, but ones super and ones not.. Super blast Speed ‘SBS’ for race days coming soon?! Love ya style fordy 👍🙏🏻
Agree 100% about the superblast ! Was indispensable in my last marathon block - great recommendation as usual - thanks ! I just signed up for my first 50k ( for fun not pace) - and I ordered the Novablast 4 The course is all gravel and the superblast outsole has too many cut outs for rocks to get stuck in … the NB4 outsole looks more gravel friendly :-)
Loved the Novablast 3tr! Did 900kms in them. Orderded the Superblast, excited to try them out soon. Great, these 5/6/7 minutes video's. Helpfull and to the point. Thanks!
I think a fair conclusion from this is that if you already have a pair of superblasts, no need to pick up the NovaBlast 4. If you don't own superblasts and want to save a bit of money, Novablast 4 is very comparable.
I just can't agree with your verdict on this. If they truly are extremely close in performance, surely the shoe that is considerably cheaper would be the recommendation to everyday runners?
I loved the novablast 2 so much I bought several pairs so I don't run out of them . They're my favourite and they wear really well , 500 miles easily highest mileage my pair have that on them and look like they'll double that !! Just like the MK1 , I've got 1200+ miles on mine and seriously they still give comfortable runs 🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️
Hi Fordy ... Hey as a 86kg runner who generally wears stability shoes like Adrenaline Kayano and Mizuno wave nirvana is the novablast 4 or superblast stable enough for me to have a great a time in it as everyone seems to be ? Lately ive been using less stability focused shoe like the Saucony endorphin speed 3 and still enjoy it without issue
The superblast is my favorite running shoe. I might have to glue a vibram on it for winter😉😂 i dont understand why they are so hard to find. The colorway you have for example seems to be superrare. I got the yellow ones and the outsole is starting to look a bit chewed up (around 300km on em).
I'll have top pick up a pair of SB's, especially after the comparison made to my all time favourite shoe, the OG Glideride. I can't wait. I'm around 105kgs so I compress the foam on the Nimbus a bit too much still
After back to back 10km. Tempo run in the Superblast and Easy run in the Novablast. In direct comparison, the Novablast feel too soft and not responsive enough, the Superblast just feel better and even though today was a slow easy run in the Novablast and yesterday was a Tempo in the Superblast, the Superblast just respond better and absorb everything better and yet give a little back. My feet, legs and everything just feels better after running in the Superblast 😍
So a few questions. I got a Superblast with about 450k in them, they still feel great for longer efforts and tempo. And yes you can do daily training in them but you might want something a tad softer for that. Is it worth getting the Novablast 4 in my case? Also to offload and lengthen my use of my current Superblast. Or just get a second pair of Superblast (which i'm not too keen on since they take quite some time to break in). Or just wait for Superblast 2? Considering that i thought the Novablast 3 was too soft and it bottommed out for me really fast.
Exactly what I was going to comment. Why not have both in rotation? Superblast for tempo/long runs and Novablast 4 for easy runs. I have both being shipped to me and probably will test that rotation.
I'm a heel striker runner which one should I buy? novablas 4 or superblast? or other recommendation? TIA SIR! please help me to choose my first running shoes :)
I'm an Asics fanboy. I walk in the GT2000 & Kayano, and for running/training Cumulus & Nimbus. I wish they would resurrect the Glideride, still have a new pair of v1 in storage. It seems to have died and been replaced by the Superblast? One question I've not seen addressed. Runners vs Triathletes. Do the latter, especially non-elite age groupers need a carbon supershoe for racing? On fatigued legs after the swim/bike even elites/pro only manage a 3hr marathon, age-groupers 4-5hr standard. Same for 1/2 ironman. Comfort and control is better than propulsion. The superblast has been put in the supershoe category as a high end daily trainer. Would it be just as good as a Tri raceday shoe?
First marathon in april. I liked the Superblast so much ive sold my Saucony pro 3 and bought another pair of Superblast. Will train in one pair and run the marathon in the second pair. Not realy aming for a time but 4 ish hours would be good.
@jollyroger1009 Not for the average runner like me. Done a half marathon in both and not much difference in times , but my legs still felt good after running in the Superblast and ached a bit in the pro 3 so for a marathon it was an easy decision. 😀
Hey Fordy, would love to get your advice. I’m kind of stuck between choosing nimbus 25 or NB4 for my slow/long/daily runs. I’m afraid that nimbus might be too soft while NB4 might not be soft enough😅. Which one would you choose? I currently have the propel v4 and Boston 12 as my rotation. Love your reviews btw! Cheers!
@@vtru2743 Nike Alphafly, vaporfly. Adidas pro 3 but they have carbon plates in. Nothing I've found without a plate currently beats the Superblast IMO, great shoe and the v2 is gonna have a lot to live up to
You're not making any sense. You're making an argument for the Nova blast 4. if you're saying that the NB4 is too much like the SB and there is a significant price difference, then why would you not go with the Nova blast 4 and save some $$??
He's saying it's closer to the superblast but not as good. So if you want the best shoe then it's the superblast. But if you're not bothered about having the best then novablast 4 will do. It's always harder to take a step down in performance imo so people with the superblast will know that the novablast isn't as good.
Novablast is 60 pounds cheaper, bought a pair today and they're outstanding! Used the boston 12 for daily training but think now the novablast 4 has taken that spot
You know when you have two good shoes you are reaching for, to put on for a run but have to choose one? The NB3 and superblast are that for me and I always reach for the superblast. I just bought the NB4 but haven’t yet run in them.
hey fordy, what do you think about the novablast 3 vs the propel v4? ive been trying to find a cushioned versatile daily trainer, also what do you think about the rebel v3 in the same context?
@@FordyRuns they all cost the same after discount right now at about 50 pounds for the propel and around 70 pounds for the rebel v3, the novablast is about 80 pounds. so what would you advise me to get if they all costed the same? since all three of them are all really cheap im just trying to find out whats the best
£80 difference and the NB likely to be more widely available and therefore more likely to be discounted. Unless you have deep pockets the answer seems sonewhat straight forward... ?
Hi its a question about daily running trainers ive been running in new balance 1080 I've had the v10 v11 v12 all good but im looking for a couple of rotation shoes is Adidas boston 12 a good rotation shoe and torn between 1080v13 asics novablast 4 or asics nimbus gel 25 many thanks
EVERYONE: NB4 is incredibly close to the SB. But for someone who can afford the SB, there is enough of a gap to splurge on it. Especially if you run for a living 😂. So his comparison ending with, "I'd get the SB", makes sense to someone like me who doesn't have either one....but is going to buy the SB over the NB4.
This did not help me to decide on which to order. 🤣 I had 2 pairs of NB3 and a pair of Superblast that were a 1/2 size too big. NB are past their life. I hate to spend $200 on a trainer. But im fighting some.knee and ahin pain on my left side.
If you're going to pick between two incredibly similar shoes, you're going to pick the $200 option over $140? hmm. I wish I had the same financial capacity to not give a shit about an extra $60. Most of us don't though.
Not to mention the NB4 is going to be easily had for 20% off at major retailers during their frequent sales. So, it's a $112 shoe vs a Superblast for $180 with 10% off at Asics... that's how I'm looking at it.
