I just picked up the Skyward X online using some coupons I had. Ended up under $200 so I’m happy with that. At 6’4” 210lbs, I’m super excited to try them. I put about 70 miles into the Superblast and I just can’t see the hype in them. Like you, I feel as though I’m fighting against the foam for some reason. Maybe my stride/foot just doesn’t work with ASICS foam but tbh that shoe does not inspire me to run at all.
I’ve tried the Novablast 4, not the Superblast, and Skyward X… to replace my Pegasus 38. HOKA are SO much better IMO. Well rockered, way more confortable, more fun. In terms of price, 200€ compared to 120 for the Novablast, if you search for the best price in France at the moment. I will receive Skyward in a few days. Also tried NB Élite V4 (with NB crew in a Running shop). Good one, confortable, easy run. But overpriced for me. Would be an other good choice if money were not a problem.
Superblast definitely loves marathon pace. Not so great at recovery/easy. I think Saucony Triumph 22 will emerge as the better value that’ll sit in both the recovery and steady long run.
I think the Superblast would be amazing if it were more rockered and Asics knows how to do it. The Noosa and Evoride lines are all about the geometry. However, at about 130 lbs. with a size 10.5 shoe, I think the Skyward X would be too much shoe for me.
Ima keep it real, I had a sloggy ass 5 mile run in the superblast two days ago & it was pretty much all down to the lockdown/upper fit. Superblast needs a lot of work in the upper / lacing system.
@@carsongunter2264 I really like the Prime X2. Soft, bouncy, and pretty stable for a high stack shoe. I also have the original Prime X non strung upper and they are great, just no where near as stable. I did end up getting the Skyward X as well and I absolutely love them. Very comfortable shoe and fun to run in.
I'd go for the endorphin pro 4 or superblast. Superblast is a little more stable and more planted feeling and the pro 4 is bouncier with more of a fun ride out of the box. My top marathon recommendation right now is the pro 4 but if you want more stability and a shoe to use for everyday miles then the superblast will be better for you. Cielo X1 is fun but has a bit of an odd feeling at some paces from the heel cutout, especially for heel striking
Lighter isn't always better. The tech in the skyward makes it so u can't really feel how heavy the shoe is. The ride is so smooth. So far it's been my favorite shoe this year.
I know you said skyward X is narrower in forefoot but that's the midsole. How is the actual FIT in the forefoot? Which one has more width and more room in the toe-box?
😂 I don't mind the look of the superblast but skyward x isn't winning and design awards. In the $200 category the Cloudmonster hyper looks pretty sweet but I know On isn't everyone's cup of tea
Skyward X is extremely tempting. Going to wait to see what Superblast 2 is like and also a better color for the Hoka. I usually don’t care but this is so bad I would actually not buy it.
love your videos - in the future if you could do a video on the best trainers for runners for flat feet that would be great. maybe including easy run, tempo and race day shoes as I am currently wearing the adidas adios pro 3s for race/speed but feel like they may be giving me some problems as I can't fit my insoles in them properly and don't think they have the best support in place. Thankyou and keep up the hard work.
