The Dominus records are a treasure in history. Even though Godfallos was not DM, it is still one of my all time favorite albums! 🔥 Asinhell was worth the wait too! 🙌 Great Show at Copenhell too guys!
My gateway into death metal was through nu metal bands first like Korn & Mudvayne and Slipknot then not long after that I got into viking death & melodic death and American death metal bands such as Amon Amarth & In Flames And Cannibal Corpse.
I remember listening to "Becoming" and thinking to myself that I really wish Poulsen would do some death metal again. Yes, I am one of those old farts who rocked out to Dominus back in the 90's. It was quite unique for the time. I didn't follow along when Volbeat was formed though. It's just not my jam. But I've always respected what he has been able to built on the early foundation of Dominus. Over the years I have been listening in on some Volbeat stuff here and there though. The metal inspiration always shined through the blinders in my opinion. It was clear to me that Michael never forgot his roots. And now we get this! I have to admit, I am pretty stoked about this project. The singles sound pretty amazing. It almost feels like the perfect storm of everything I love about old-school death metal. Looking forward to it. \m/
Death metal has been my favorite music genre since I was 16. I'm now in my late 20s. Scar Symmetry, Nile, Job for a Cowboy, In Flames, Gojira, Behemoth, Vader, and then Cannibal Corpse were my gateway bands. It happened so quick. It was far harsher and noisier than any other genres I had heard at the time, but even though I didn't understand it, I couldn't get enough. The adrenaline from the guitars and vocals floored me, and I never looked back. I just love it.
lo so che è un discorso da vecchio... ma i millennials dovrebbero prendere spunto da tutte le band nominate in questa intervista. Una delle mie preferite è DOMINUS, ho tatuato la cover di The First 9 sul polpaccio 😂 Il Death Metal è di noi ultra quarantenni 😂 I know it's old talk... but millennials should take inspiration from all the bands mentioned in this interview. One of my favorites is DOMINUS, I tattooed the cover of The First 9 on my calf 😂 Death Metal belongs to us over forties 😂
I was metalhead for around a decade, vocal for 6 years, and guitar for 2 years. Even though my band is left with me and one bassist, I'll never quit metal.
Grew up on classic rock and country, bluegrass, and jazz. Found punk rock through my cousin in middle school, metal came in high school after moving cities and some of the punks/hardcore kids I made friends with started bullying me. I made friends with the metalheads and they stood up for me. Then we were all friends. Now I’m a rapper and vocalist trying to branch out. Who knew a dorky dude from Bakersfield, CA could be so cool? I did, that’s who.
As a big fan of Volbeat and metal in general (I listen to a wide range of genres), my curiosity inevitably led me to Asinhell. And I was blown away by the work of Michaël's new band. The riffs are powerful and melodious, and Mark's voice reminds me a little of Lemmy in a Death version. In short, I've fallen in love with Asinhell and I'm very curious to discover the whole album.
