Been lucky enough to meet Allan Gray a few times over the years. He's every bit as amazing as you would expect him to be. Have a go at this though.... he's basically doing a teardown and rebuild of a rear diff in someone's small garage using nothing but hand tools and a bench vice. The master at work.... And he's not even a Nissan guy!
Man having a bearing adjuster is soooo nice. The old Toyota “8.25” diffs have shims. At least you can set these up on a table. Diffs with shims that have to be set up with the axle in are stupidly difficult and manufacturers should be ashamed. Good knowledge and kit though!
To the uninitiated, he seems like a mumbling, old drunk. But I can't think of anyone I'd rather have working on my Land Cruiser. Allen is the closest thing to Gandalf the Grey in real life.
