To kick off the 2016-2017 season I want to do a video titled, "Ask Me Anything". I will shoot it when I have at least 10 questions. You can leave your question in the comment section, or you can email it to me at: KeepitRealRN.com@gmail.com
Questions can be about nursing, but don't have to be. You can literally ask me anything.

1) What made you cut your hair when you first started this channel and why did you grow it out? 2) What books or resources do you recommend for nurses new to or wanting to get into the ER or ICU? Thank you for the videos you make! You really do "keep it real".

OK, here's a set of questions: I'm just starting this adventure (finishing up my pre-reqs, been accepted into nursing school, and start OFFICIAL classes in January). Sometimes I wonder if I'll really use this information ON the job or if this is just a foundation to "thinking nurse-y". In your job...do you actually utilize what you learned in microbiology and chemistry? ...AND... If you could go back into nursing school - and yet somehow know all the things you know now - is there anything you would have done differently/paid attention to more/etc that would have made your time and career as a nurse better or easier? Is there something that you have to shake your head at (with new nurses coming out of schools) and think "why aren't they teaching these folks -------- / to do ------ better?"

Craig, I have been watching your channel for a while now and I know you have a great deal of experience in ICU. I'm a new RN, I was an Lpn for 2 years at a nursing home prior and I'm starting an ICU job in a few weeks. I know there is alot to learn in this area but can you list some things I can study about in the mean time before I start my job so that it won't be overwhelming at first? thanks, Pritchard, RN

What are your thoughts on new grads going straight into the ICU? What are your tips for getting used to working overnights? Do you take your vacation time? If so, what's your favorite way to spend it?

Is having your own malpractice insurance a good idea?

I will answer this in more depth in the video but the bottom line for me is that it helps me sleep better at night.

What was your inspiration for becoming a nurse and why? I'm not sure if you already answered this previously, but I gave it a shot.

Thank you for asking. I have not thought about this for a while. Challenge accepted.

Have you tried travel nursing? Opinions??

Yes I have. To do well with it you need to have a sense of adventure, be confident, be a fast learning, and be able to assimilate quickly.

How do u maintain a normal life/schedule working nights?

I will address this in more detail, but the bottom line is that to survive nights you need to redefine what is "normal".
